Review Summary

Fung Shing is recognized for consistent quality, with wonton soup and spicy beef dishes among the favorites, along with crispy duck and generously portioned plates that make it a reliable choice for families and larger groups; the service is often described as friendly and attentive, the atmosphere warm and casual, and the prices fair for the area, with guests praising authentic flavors, well balanced garlic and ginger notes, and a menu that ranges from dumplings and spring rolls to beef, pork, seafood and vegetable dishes that arrive hot and flavorful; many reviews call it a Montreal classic with a long history and a welcoming staff, while others highlight speedy service and a comfortable setting that feels both traditional and expressive, leading to frequent recommendations and plans to return.

Got takeout - Shanghai noodles, wanton, & general tso chicken - every dish was fabulous

The restaurant is clean, we'll put together, & styled beautifully.

The person working tonight was an older gentlemen, very helpful & even gave us some complimentary hot tea!

Highly recommend trying this restaurant when in Chinatown!

Average food. Tried their chicken & beef fried rice. The chicken was quite bland & the beef tasted like it was just fat & no meat.

One of Montreals best Chinese restaurants. Owners are incredibly kind. BBQ pork rice is fantastic & the star of the show is the crispy salt & pepper pork. The pineapple chicken, calamari & Hunan dumplings are all great as well

My wife & I were really in the mood for some good Chinese food & since we were already in downtown Montreal, we decided to walk over to Chinatown which has in my opinion the best Chinese restaurants in Montreal. We chose a real, "Old School" restaurant named Fung Shing on Boul. Saint-Laurent which has been around since 1976. The interior reminded me of when my parents took me to Chinese restaurants as a kid. Great memories! We selected from the menu, Hunan Dumplings, Lemon Chicken, Beef with Ginger & Pineapple & Stir Fried Vegetables, & let me tell you we experienced an explosion of flavours from each of these dishes. The portions were extremely large & we could not finish all of our food. The restaurant packaged it up for us to takeout so that we could bring it home & enjoy this absolutely delicious food once again.

Come here for the wonton, crispy chicken & chow mein since I was a kid & the quality/quantity is still the same, excellent!

My latest delivery was quite disappointing. The lemon chicken which had thick chicken & light batter, now has thin slices of chicken with thick batter: exactly the opposite of what I want. The special won ton soup was also very average.

So far, I have had delivery 3 times from this restaurant & the quality has been very good. I finally found a lemon chicken that has good amounts of chicken with a light batter on the outside.
The vegetable fried rice has fresh tomatoes in it, making it pleasantly juicy & light. I also tried the soya chicken & BBQ pork; both were very good. My favorite though, is still the lemon chicken for now.
