Guess what I ordered?
Hint: It wasn't a bowl of plain noodles.
I got a massive plate of rice noodles with bean sprouts & a grand total of three tiny pieces of meat.
When I asked the staff where the protein was, they told me'this is how it comes.'
To be fair, the noodles tasted decent, but they are absolutely not worth $15
Look, I know the restaurant business is hard right now.
If they need to charge extra for a proper portion of meat, I'm more than happy to pay for it.
But cutting corners like this is just unacceptable.
It has not changed ... 30+ years. The house special rice is as good as ever 😍 This rating is a bit overrated - from my nostalgia.
May 2023: the place has not changed much; some how the wonton soup & the special house rice (not on the menu any more) did not taste as good as I remember.
May 2026: interior refreshed; cute, friendly hostess/server fluent chinese/english/french; good house special rice (not in the menu).
Thank you for your continuing presence
Had an amazing experience at Fung Shing Chinese Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious & everything we ordered really hit the spot.
We started with the Tofu & Seafood Soup (large) which was comforting & full of flavour. The Deep Fried Wonton (large) & Pan Fried Pork Dumplings (large) were perfectly crispy & packed with filling. The Spring Rolls were a great starter as well.
For mains, the BBQ Pork & Half Roasted Duck were highlights - tender, juicy, & full of that classic roasted flavour. The Beef Fried Rice (large) & Beef Chow Mein (large) were both generous portions & very tasty. We also ordered Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, which was cooked perfectly & balanced out the meal nicely.
We were a group of 7 & the portions were great - everyone left full & completely satisfied. The food came out hot, fresh, & full of flavour. Definitely a great spot for family-style Chinese food. We'll absolutely be coming back! 😋🥢
Came in Christmas Eve for wonton soup, rice. Tea, & comfort. I found everything wonderful & delicious. I will make this a stop on my daily walks.
Average food. Tried their chicken & beef fried rice. The chicken was quite bland & the beef tasted like it was just fat & no meat.
One of Montreals best Chinese restaurants. Owners are incredibly kind. BBQ pork rice is fantastic & the star of the show is the crispy salt & pepper pork. The pineapple chicken, calamari & Hunan dumplings are all great as well
Very authentic flavors. The waiter very patient & friendly. My favorites are fried wonton, seafood soup, garlic lobster, salt pepper pork chop, general tao, fung shing chicken & salted fish fried rice, fried calamary & fried shrimps
Meh. Ordered Singapore noodles, beef fried rice & it wasn't even seasoned. No salt whatsoever. Was really boring & bland. Would not try again.
Ordered on DoorDash. Young Chow Fried Rice & Beef with Black Bean Sauce. Both were excellent.
My latest delivery was quite disappointing. The lemon chicken which had thick chicken & light batter, now has thin slices of chicken with thick batter: exactly the opposite of what I want. The special won ton soup was also very average.

So far, I have had delivery 3 times from this restaurant & the quality has been very good. I finally found a lemon chicken that has good amounts of chicken with a light batter on the outside.
The vegetable fried rice has fresh tomatoes in it, making it pleasantly juicy & light. I also tried the soya chicken & BBQ pork; both were very good. My favorite though, is still the lemon chicken for now.
