Frite Alors! garners consistent praise for its Montreal style poutine, crispy double fried frites, and solid burgers, with many noting the poutine as among the best and the fries as a standout, though several visits mention cheese portions being light or gravy not meeting expectations on some days. The atmosphere is described as casual and welcoming, with a lively street vibe and pleasant terraces in the summer, and staff are frequently praised for friendliness and attentiveness even as service can be slow or erratic during peak times. Value is generally considered good with reasonable prices, lunch specials, and a good beer and cider selection, though some complain about portion sizes or paying for smaller formats. Dietary options appear mixed, with some reviews noting a vegan or plant based burger while others say vegetarian options are limited. Overall, the place seems to deliver tasty burgers, strong fries and poutines, and a fun hangout vibe, prompting several patrons to say they would return, especially on nice days or for a quick casual meal.
The space is quite spacious with plenty of seating. It wasn't too loud, & the place has a very local, laid back feel. I went in the early afternoon on a weekday, so it wasn't busy at all. It felt calm, quiet, & comfortable.
The menu includes poutine, smash burgers, burgers, & a few side dishes. I ordered the sausage poutine. It was really good & came with a generous amount of sausage. The food arrived quickly, about 5 minutes after ordering.
There was one male server working the floor. He was friendly, attentive, & very efficient. He moved constantly, stayed flexible, & paid attention to every table. Very professional overall.
Definitely worth trying. I would come back if I am in the area again.

We visited from Alberta, wanted delicious poutine while in Montreal, & were not disappointed with our experience. In fact, my friend who had not yet experienced a poutine which she enjoyed, really enjoyed it! I was delighted that she finally could understand my enjoyment of poutine. Both the poutine & the side salad that we shared were delicious! Would highly recommend this place!

Food was good, but it took 20 minutes just to get our order taken & another 30 to get our food. We were originally going to eat at the restaurant, but ended up taking everything to go after we got tired of waiting. I don't know if we just caught them on an off day, but the overall experience was slightly disheartening
