Overall, reviews describe Frite Alors! as a casual, spacious spot with a local, relaxed vibe and solid seating options where poutine, smash burgers, burgers, and sides are the main draw. Poutine is consistently praised, with generous toppings and flavorful cheese, and several versions including Montréalaise style are mentioned; the fries are generally crispy, and portions are described as satisfying though a few comments note small portions for certain poutines. The smash burgers are a standout, and the menu is seen as reliable with reasonable prices, a good beer and cider selection, and quick or friendly service in many visits. Attentive and professional staff appear in most reviews, though a few mention slower service or longer wait times, particularly during busy periods or for takeout. The atmosphere ranges from calm midafternoon visits to lively evenings with a pedestrian street setting and outdoor seating, and the place is described as a good option for a Montreal style casual meal that patrons would return for when in the area.
This place absolutely sucks.
Service is horrible. Servers completely inattentive. Burger embarrassingly small & burnt to crisp. Never asked how we wanted our burgers cooked. Never brought over a single glass of water. Ordered a gluten free bun & only 30 mins after ordering did a server come over to say they didn't have them. It still took another 20 mins to come out. The gluten free meal, we were told would be in the house for the screw up. Still charged full price for it. Embarrassingly crap.
The space is quite spacious with plenty of seating. It wasn't too loud, & the place has a very local, laid back feel. I went in the early afternoon on a weekday, so it wasn't busy at all. It felt calm, quiet, & comfortable.
The menu includes poutine, smash burgers, burgers, & a few side dishes. I ordered the sausage poutine. It was really good & came with a generous amount of sausage. The food arrived quickly, about 5 minutes after ordering.
There was one male server working the floor. He was friendly, attentive, & very efficient. He moved constantly, stayed flexible, & paid attention to every table. Very professional overall.
Definitely worth trying. I would come back if I am in the area again.
La cuisine est typique mais très bonne. Le serveur bouclé est très gentil & très à l'écoute. Vraiment les burgers sont excellents je recommande on reviendra c'est certain !!
Merci pour ce bon repas !

Amazing!!!
It's was delicious! Cheese burger with gluten free bun, with a gf cider to wash it down!!!
I had the wonderful Ambre as my server. $ well spent....I'll be back!! Lol!
This establishment came highly recommended from a friend who has lived in Montreal for 8 years, with a few locations around the island, we were told to patronize the St-Denis location because it has seating & is very kid friendly. The children's menu includes a poutine option for double cheese curds called LA Skouik-Skouik, I strongly recommend asking your child to pronounce it fully if you're not a native Quebecian.
The Frites are double-fried Belgian style in beef tallow, which is my favorite way to cook potatoes in general. The 100% Canadian beef burgers are also fantastic.
Strongly recommend this location if you're visiting or if you want some of the best poutine in the area (sample size=3).
The Baconsoucisse was the best poutine I had during my stay in Montreal. Service was quick, & the draught blonde beer was tasty. The smash burger was decent.
My go to for some of the best smash burger in town, easy, fast & cheap, good beer to match it with. Fries & poutine were really tasty & crispy. Wasn't busy when we went but service was fast & efficient. All in all an easy place if you're craving a burger & some fries.
