About

Foiegwa presents an unapologetic interpretation of French culinary traditions fused with high-calorie comfort food staples. The menu centers on classic bistro fare, characterized by rich preparations like signature foie gras, escargot, and steak frites. A standout feature remains the heavy, indulgent burger that balances traditional butchery with an elevated, buttery decadence. The interior environment channels the aesthetic of a classic Parisian haunt, utilizing a narrow, packed layout that emphasizes intimacy and constant movement. Mirrors and brass accents define the space, creating a dense, high-energy atmosphere that rejects minimalism in favor of maximalist flavor profiles. Guests encounter a straightforward approach to execution where ingredient quality dictates the composition of every dish. This establishment prioritizes consistent, robust portions that favor saturation and classic technique over modern, light-handed culinary trends.

Review Summary

Foiegwa is widely celebrated as a cozy, charming boutique bistro that captures a vibrant Parisian energy in the heart of Montreal. Guests frequently highlight the restaurant for its exceptional, flavor-forward menu, with standout dishes such as the truffle pasta, decadent foie gras, and signature brunch offerings like the croissant Benedict and pancakes. While the majority of diners praise the warm, professional, and friendly service, the intimate size of the space means it can become quite crowded and noisy, often requiring advanced reservations. Although most reviews are glowing, occasional feedback mentions inconsistencies in portion sizes, varying service experiences, or specific dishes missing the mark, yet the overall consensus points to a memorable, high-quality dining experience that many are eager to repeat.

I love this restaurant. Went last week to enjoy an early celebration of my birthday with my family & decided to try the late menus & others ( may I say they take out the dessert wich it's a shame but completly understand). Tried the oysters/ Salade cesar & the tartare. No comment cause everthing was delicious I will love to see an option to add chicken to the Salade cesar but thats me. For the main wee chose the duck & the fish of the day wish was salmon again the meat were excellent but may I say pairing duck & pepper with onions feels pretty strange. Im not a fan of spinach & it did felt a bit to healthy & not savory enough thanks it had that delicious hollandaise. Finally I couldn't expect more for the profiteroles they were perfect.
Also a must try is their French fries with truffle!

Cozy little restaurant with a great ambiance & good service. I went for their special night-time'menu table d'hôte', the portions were good & the taste was okay. The price point is fair too. Good experience.

The oysters, nice portions of fois gras, tartare & very tender perfect hanger steak. Will definitely return!

What a charming spot - highly recommend.

From the moment we walked in, the space felt quaint, cozy, & inviting. The service struck a perfect balance between polished & relaxed, which made for a really enjoyable dining experience.

Everything we ordered was delicious - the Caesar salad, roast chicken, beef tartare, & truffle fries were all standout dishes. The spicy margarita was great, but the espresso martinis we had as a nightcap were definitely the highlight.

One small note: I'd recommend asking for the truffle sauce on the lighter side. While the flavour was excellent, the fries at the bottom of the plate became quite saturated, making them a bit too rich to finish. That said, the truffle fries paired perfectly with the beef tartare.

Dessert was beautifully presented, though a touch heavy on the chocolate - one of the cream puffs ended up a bit soggy. Still, this didn't take away from what was easily our best dining experience during our time in Montreal.

We'd absolutely love to come back.
