Food was overall excellent, we ordered the albacore tataki, the duck, the agedashi tofu & the lamb ramen. The tataki was very well done, fish was very fresh & the outsides were very nicely charred. The wasabi chimichurri was a perfect accompaniment. The duck was flavourful, moist & also charred very well on the outside, but we personally found the mushroom & accompanying veg to clash with the flavour slightly. The lamb ramen was the highlight of the dinner, the lamb chashu was generous, tasty & the texture was wonderful whilst the lamb broth itself felt like a hug. The noodles were also very well done, & still had a bite to them.
Service was also friendly & accommodating. Hope to be back soon!
A unique dining experience! The building has a charming vintage feel, & part of the kitchen is right in the middle of the restaurant, giving it an energetic, interactive vibe. We sat at the bar & loved watching the action unfold. We ordered the chicken nanban, the temaki sushi, & the aged miso duck dish. All were delicious, but the chicken was definitely the standout for me. The bathroom layout is a bit awkward, but it's a minor detail. Overall, I'd definitely come back again!
This was our first trip to Montreal & this was our favorite restaurant on the trip. We had the tasting menu & the food was great all around. The sashimi with the lemony sauce & the duck breast were my favorites. We also had some gin cocktails that were really good.
The atmosphere is cool & we were able to see some of the cooking & preparation of sashimi from our place at the bar.
Overall we really enjoyed it & would definitely recommend!
Vraiment excellent!! À bientôt!
Quelle belle expérience!
It has been a while since I enjoyed a menu to this point.
Carte de sake impressionnante, nourriture delicieuse.
Mais assez dispendieux
Nice little hidden gem in Chinatown. The food was really good, felt like fine dining without the fine dining price. There are many great options to choose from & almost everything was very tasty. Reservations are definitely required for this place. The service was good, courteous & knowledgeable.
We ordered the chicken namban, agedashi tofu, donburi, sea urchin butter with bread & the lamb ramen. The ramen was the highlight for us, it was really flavorful & brought us back to Japan. The sea urchin was very tasty too, but if didn't feel like it had all that much seaurchin in the dish to be called a sea urchin dish. The donburi was also very tasty, though the nori was stale & took quite a bit of chewing. The tofu & the chicken namban were my least favorite. The tofu was a bit plain, though the sauce was very tasty. The chicken was a bit mushy & didn't really fit the rest of the meal, where everything was very well crafted.
The sashimi was a mix of hits & misses, the scallops were especially fresh & delicious, but the salmon was not fresh at all. The Agedashi Tofu was excellent, & the duck dish was also quite good. The environment is fair; a bit old & not particularly Japanese in style, but still acceptable. However, the biggest downside was the price, portions were quite small, making it feel overpriced for what we received.
À chaque fois, l'expérience est mémorable. Le service est excellent, la nourriture juste du wow. À bientôt, encore !
Toujours un plaisir au fleurs & cadeaux! Bonne bouffe, bonne ambiance & excellent saké.
