I really liked Fleurs & cadeaux. Reminded me of a true Japanese restaurant & food was really good. However, I am removing stars for Service as tip was calculated after total + tax on the terminal which was trying to lead me to leave even more tip than I intended to. This tip culture is becoming insane. Fortunately I paid attention (I got caught last week at another restaurant) so I ended up rounding the tax amount & gave more than 15% but before tax, a generous tip but below suggestions. This gave me 50$ for our group of 6 which is a good tip (around 16%). Stop it.Voir plus

Food was ok. Portion is small & nothing was outstanding. For the milk bread, the proportion between the puree & bread was really off. So we had a lot of leftover puree. Sashimi was also just ok.
I forgot about the 2 hours dining policy written on the reservation page & the waitress didn't mention it when we arrive despite that we told her it was our first time here. When we said we wanted desserts, she said she already let us overstayed so she would need to check. Although at the end, she said we can stay another 15 mins, our mood was ruined. If it's an important meeting, I don't suggest to come :(
Replied to owner: as we booked the restaurant a week in advance, & 2 hours eating time is NOT a common practice in Montreal, I believe a restaurant should inform the guests especially when we we said it's our first time visiting. Throughout our dining time, the 2 hours time frame was not mentioned until we asked for desserts. For a $100+ per person restaurant, I don't think the service met the standard nor the food.Voir plus

Fleurs & Cadeaux blows us away each time we visit. At this point, I'd be willing to plan a trip around coming for dinner. The food is exquisite, especially the creativity of the vegetable dishes. The fish melts in your mouth & the cocktails & wine are delicate & well-curated. The staff are always knowledgeable, thoughtful, & friendly. To top it all off, the ambiance is wonderful. This gem of a place blew me away. It is a MUST visit if you are in Montreal. Right when I walked in, the decor hit me with a chill retro vibe along with the music being played. The tapas style eats will teleport you to Japan. The tuna sashimi, the marinated duck, are both a must.Voir plus

It's a very cute restaurant with tasty food. My issue was that it took 2 hours to get through 4 dishes. If they were hot fired dishes maybe that would be ok, but 2 sashimi courses & a cold salad should not take that long to serve. If you like leisurely dining & aren't super hungry maybe this is a good place for you, but we were not satisfied. Especially after spending over $300 for 4 courses & a bottle of wine. Bons produits mais ça ressemble un peu aux tapas dans le sens où il faut prendre plusieurs petits plats (minimum 20-30$ chacun) & on se retrouve très vite à une facture de 130-150 CAD pour deux avec taxes & tips. Sympa à faire une fois mais pour le prix je ne suis pas sûr d'y retourner.
