We went on a date, my wife & I. It was my first time going, but I'd heard great things seeing as how this restaurant is considered an institution. I was not disappointed. Apparently they had just recently renovated, the space was beautiful. The food & the service were both excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions or date nights or anytime you're looking for high-end execution on Portuguese cuisine.
There is one option for small 8oz steak, fillet mignon. I wanted ribeye which only comes in 16 oz & all other options are for 2 people really, so I had fish. But I wanted steak. It's not a big choice. Seafood side better if you like mussels & octopus. The service is amazing.

Our appetizers were amazing, dessert was incredible, the mains are nothing to talk about.
It's pricey- be prepared to spend $60-130 per main ans $30 per appetizer.
They short pour wine- supposed to be 5oz. was 3.5oz - 4 oz. Seriously by the glass was a rip off.
It's a corporate credit card restaurant if you know what I mean.
Had an absolutely wonderful dining experience here! The atmosphere was warm & welcoming from the moment we walked in. Our server was attentive & knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. The food was exceptional - fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, & beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor. The portions were generous & well worth the price. The restaurant was clean & well-maintained, & despite being busy, we didn't feel rushed. The dessert was the perfect ending to our meal. We'll definitely be returning soon & would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal & excellent service. Five stars!
It was my first time dining at Ferreira Café, & I truly loved the experience. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the elegance of the space. The Portuguese azulejo bar, refined wood details, & soft lighting create an atmosphere that feels both chic & inviting.
The food was absolutely delicious. Each dish was beautifully balanced & made with incredibly fresh ingredients, many inspired by Portuguese terroir. The attention to detail was evident in both the flavors & the presentation.
The service was excellent: attentive, professional, & warm, without ever feeling overwhelming. I felt well taken care of throughout the evening, yet completely at ease.
Ferreira Café left a wonderful first impression. Everything, from the cuisine to the setting & the service, came together effortlessly. I would gladly return & highly recommend it, whether for a business dinner, a night out with friends, or a special occasion.
It was our first visit to Ferreira Cafe. The service was excellent. Our sever Marco was very knowledgeable. We ordered the appetizers of Eggplant & the house cures smoke salmon. Both were very tasty & satisfying. For our Entree/Mains we both ordered the House dish of 30 years. Black Cod. The entree was tasty but it failed in one major area. It was Luke warm & not HOT. Whereas our server came over to ask if we were enjoying our appetizer, no one came over & asked how our first bites of our entree were & we were also not offered fresh ground pepper. In 2026 it is very RARE not to be served HOT food when fine dining. If I had that experience previously on a return visit to a restaurant I will ask for the food to be hot. At the end of the meal we still were not asked how our meal was. I finally volunteered that the fish was Luke warm & food taste much better HOT. The response was weak & tepid. No apology. Just,'I'll Let the Kitchen know'. We were sitting behind the glass wall watching the cooking. There were a lot of staff. Whether it was the fault of the waiter or the expediter is moot. No apology & weak response is not a very guest or customer centric friendly answer. We eat out for dinner every Saturday night. The enjoyment of he meal includes the food, how it is prepared & service, the service & the atmosphere. We will probably give Ferreira another try sometime in the future. But when I am paying $299 for two. I expect better from a seasoned restaurant. Why would any restaurant be satisfied with serving lukewarm warm food?As in any retail experience? Your last touch is the most important. It was poor here. I will tell friends my unvarnished experience & hopefully this is a one off.
Best Portuguese restaurant in Montreal!!!!
I had such an amazing experience here. My friend & I visited Montreal during weekends & we chose this restaurant to try first, & we were so impressed by how nice staffs were, how good the foods were, & terrific service!!
The food was flawless with perfect balance. We reserved a bar but asked to change it to a main table if possible. They helped us secure the table & even offered a glass of wine for free while waiting.
I visit Montreal at least once a month & this will be my next go-to restaurant.
I appreciate how generous you guys are. & wonderful chefs !!
The ingredients are so fresh & fine.
My girlfriend & I booked this restaurant for Valentine's Day. She has severe allergies to milk, eggs, & all nuts. We clearly informed the waiter of her allergies so the kitchen could modify the menu accordingly.
Everything seemed fine until the main course. After just one bite of the polenta, she immediately began experiencing an allergic reaction. The staff later confirmed that the dish did contain allergens because the kitchen had mixed up the orders.
We asked to leave right away to go to the hospital, but the situation was made worse when the restaurant could not locate our coats. We had to wait an additional 10 minutes while they searched for them, delaying our departure during a medical emergency.
We then spent five hours in the hospital resuscitation room.
What was meant to be a special Valentine's evening turned into a frightening experience. We expected far better from a high-end restaurant, especially when it comes to handling serious, life-threatening allergies.
