I tried the egg & cheese sandwich (eggslut). For 17$, to be served a sandwich on white POM bread with undercooked eggs (it was still super slimy) & kraft singles cheese (not even real cheese) was shocking. No sides nothing. The service was ok, slow. For that price for a single sandwich, the ingredients should be high quality. Do better EVA !
Called the main line for all of the restaurants ahead to make a reservation & was told reservations weren't possible unless it was for a group of 20+, but that we'd'have no problem' getting seated at Eva's. That could not have been further from the truth.
We arrived, waited at the front for over 10 minutes without being acknowledged once, while multiple groups behind us were seated first. When we finally approached the manager to ask if there was a waitlist or process, the first thing out of his mouth, in an openly hostile tone, was:'Do you have a reservation?'
We explained the situation & instead of attempting to resolve it professionally, he became immediately defensive & aggressive:'Who did you talk to? Not me.'
It was Mother's Day. People expect busy. What they do not expect is arrogance, disorganization, & staff who treat customers like they are inconveniences for walking through the door.
I'm not sure whether bias or racism played a role in how this particular manager chose to speak to us, but the level of aggression & hostility was absolutely concerning & completely inappropriate for someone responsible for guest experience.
The bigger issue here is not one rude interaction. It's a service model problem. If your front-of-house leadership communicates with guests this way, it damages your brand far beyond a single table. People will tolerate waits. They will tolerate mistakes. What they won't tolerate is being dismissed & spoken to with contempt. This particular manager is undoubtedly causing high turnover rates with wait staff in an industry already struggling to retain employees.
Whoever owns these establishments should seriously evaluate who is managing customer experience, because attitudes like this cost reputation, repeat business, & revenue faster than they realize.
We brought our business elsewhere, where we enjoyed ourselves, ate well & tipped generously.
I had a very disappointing experience at Eva's Royalmount. The place looks beautiful & trendy, but unfortunately the food & overall experience did not justify the very high prices.
I ordered a simple egg & cheese sandwich on toast for $19 + tax & service, & it did not even come with any vegetables, salad, or potatoes on the side. For that price, I honestly expected a complete plate or at least some sides included. The portion was very basic & underwhelming for the cost. Even coffee was an extra $5, which made the final bill feel even more unreasonable for such a simple breakfast.
The quality was average, & there was nothing unique or exceptional compared to many other brunch & café places in Montreal that offer much better value for the same price or less. For the amount charged, I expected fresher ingredients, better presentation, & a more memorable dining experience.
Another issue was the tipping system. The suggested tips started at 18% & higher, which felt excessive & unclear. In Quebec, customers are already paying taxes, & the standard suggested tip is usually 15% before taxes. Automatically pushing higher percentages creates unnecessary pressure for customers & should be explained more transparently.
But I do want to mention that the waiter was amazing - very polite, professional, & friendly throughout the experience. The service from the staff was honestly one of the few positive parts of the visit.
Unfortunately, the restaurant itself feels overpriced for what it offers. I really wanted to enjoy it because the location & concept have potential, but overall it did not meet expectations. I would not return or recommend it based on my experience.
Great service & food at Eva's. Ophelia was amazing & took care of excellent recommendations. Thanks to Moe for a sweet mimosas moment for the birthday ladies. Will definitely visit again ☺?
I enjoyed my birthday brunch at Eva's. The server Ophelia, was exceptional, patient & understanding. From the booking (last minute on my part) to the service (complimentary mimosa for me), the staff & Mo, were awesome!!!!
Thank you!!!
I had a great experience at Eva's at Royalmount & a big part of it was our server, Gleb. He was super friendly, attentive, & made sure everything at our table was perfect the whole time. He checked in at the right moments, gave helpful menu suggestions, & had a really positive attitude that made the meal even more enjoyable. He also brought us free mini pancakes. The service felt genuine & welcoming. Definitely one of the best restaurant service experiences I've had - thank you Gleb!
From the chefs, the hosts, the crew & the management, I cannot say enough great things about Eva's in Royalmount. As soon as the doors open for business, it fills up quickly with hungry patrons looking for a hearty fixing of breakfast & brunch classics. Some exciting curveballs thrown in to exhibit a range of flavor & influence from different geographic locales.
The Chicken & Waffles served up unlike any other on the island. The eggslut is indulgence personified, & of course you can't go to Eva's & NOT have their photo-worthy Sunrise mimosa. Bagel & Lox? Got it. Sausage, Bacon & Eggs? I got that too. French toast? It didn't stand a chance on my plate. The Philly? You'll find it done here like no other place. Highly recommend. Go enjoy & show your love for the homegrown Real City talent. This is fresh excess at it's best.
Yes, it's competitively priced, but you'll find satisfaction & value at all price points offered on the menu. For the entire family to enjoy! A+ -KG
The best staff at Eva's Royalmount: Thomas, gab, Valeria gleb, Dimitri, junior, Bj, Thalia,
Agatha. OMG the food here was so good & the service was 10 on 10. I loved it so much. I highly recommend everybody to come here. The coffee is superior. Definitely the best brunch place in Montréal. The service was the best part of it.😍
This was my first visit to Eva's restaurant. I tried the chicken Quesadilla. It was pretty good. Well seasoned & served with a dollop of sour cream + pickled jalapeno slices. The very nice waiter recommended I try the mini pancakes with fruit that he said is a very popular item on the menu. Rightfully so. It was delicious. To drink I got the lemonade which had a light fizz & a zingy lemony flavor. Lightly sweetened which was perfect. Overall good experience. Will definitely go there again.
