Reviews for EVA's
Reviews often mention
brunch(46) pancake(26) recommend(23) chicken(19) eva's(17) royalmount(17) fresh(13) highly recommend(11) breakfast(10) coffee(10) birthday(10) attentive(10)I came to eva a couple months after it opened (this review is long overdue) & I was expecting the food & experience to be so much better than what it was. I tried the egg & cheese sandwich (eggslut). For 17$, to be served a sandwich on white POM bread with undercooked eggs (it was still super slimy) & kraft singles cheese (not even real cheese) was shocking. No sides nothing. The service was ok, slow. For that price for a single sandwich, the ingredients should be high quality. Do better EVA !
So many of these reviews seem targeted & fake. The service & food has always been amazing there & I go regularly. I was there recently on Mother's Day & Mo & the whole team made a phenomenal job getting it done on this chaotic day. Great spot for brunch always !!
Place is cute for pics, food is good too , nice place to have brunch with friends
Un service agréable avec le beau sourire de Isabela. Une superbe fille
I was actually present during the situation being described in the recent review, & I feel it's important to share what really happened. The manager was not aggressive or racist at all he was simply doing his job & handling a very busy Mother's Day service professionally.
The restaurant was clearly packed, & the group involved did not have a reservation while many other guests did. From what I witnessed, the staff remained calm despite being spoken to disrespectfully. In fact, some comments made by that family toward other Black customers nearby were uncomfortable & inappropriate.
It's unfair to publicly accuse staff of racism when they were simply following reservation policies during one of the busiest days of the year. The manager handled the situation far better than most people would under that pressure.
I've been here before & always experienced respectful service, good food, & hardworking staff. One-sided reviews can seriously damage a business, so I think people should hear both perspectives before judging.
Called the main line for all of the restaurants ahead to make a reservation & was told reservations weren't possible unless it was for a group of 20+, but that we'd'have no problem' getting seated at Eva's. That could not have been further from the truth.
We arrived, waited at the front for over 10 minutes without being acknowledged once, while multiple groups behind us were seated first. When we finally approached the manager to ask if there was a waitlist or process, the first thing out of his mouth, in an openly hostile tone, was:'Do you have a reservation?'
We explained the situation & instead of attempting to resolve it professionally, he became immediately defensive & aggressive:'Who did you talk to? Not me.'
It was Mother's Day. People expect busy. What they do not expect is arrogance, disorganization, & staff who treat customers like they are inconveniences for walking through the door.
I'm not sure whether bias or racism played a role in how this particular manager chose to speak to us, but the level of aggression & hostility was absolutely concerning & completely inappropriate for someone responsible for guest experience.
The bigger issue here is not one rude interaction. It's a service model problem. If your front-of-house leadership communicates with guests this way, it damages your brand far beyond a single table. People will tolerate waits. They will tolerate mistakes. What they won't tolerate is being dismissed & spoken to with contempt. This particular manager is undoubtedly causing high turnover rates with wait staff in an industry already struggling to retain employees.
Whoever owns these establishments should seriously evaluate who is managing customer experience, because attitudes like this cost reputation, repeat business, & revenue faster than they realize.
We brought our business elsewhere, where we enjoyed ourselves, ate well & tipped generously.
Manager was incredibly rude. I am a 22 year old girl, was trying to do a surprise brunch for my mom on mother's day, & the manager, a grown man, was being extremely aggressive & combative to me for no reason. As the other reviews pointed out I think this might be a case of racism. Extremely disrespectful behavior, & honestly a bit scary. I hope the staff here are not treated as bad as the customers are!
I would give zero stars if I could, the manager treats people like absolute garbage. He's rude, aggressive, & I could never in my right mind give money to an establishment that employs someone like that.
I hope that no one has to deal with him ever again, I'm glad we left & didn't spend any money here....
slow service with staff that doesn't really seem to care. people around us walking out due to slow service. manager not friendly & staff congregating around bar chatting. two items on the menu not available (mtl cheesesteak & club sandwich). meal was decent but would not return
Wow the manager here is very rude & disrespectful. He yelled at us & said he'never talked to us' when we had called on the phone.
I will never step foot in the place again! Imagine how the workers are treated if this is how he treats his customers... just a sad & miserable environment overall, someone needs to step in & get rid of him.
I've been to their other locations & have never had an experience so negative!!!!
Came into the restaurant expecting a good experience, but the host was not welcoming at all. Even though the restaurant was far from full, we were seated in a corner that felt isolated & uncomfortable. The overall vibe made us feel unwanted, so we ended up leaving after only 2 minutes. Very disappointing first impression
It is 11ham, Already out of smasheroos & chicken & waffles.. Considering the popularityof these plates & going there for the first time I was disappointed. The service was alright but you can't afford to not be able to provide the most popular items at 11h am on a friday. There's some work to be done there...
I had a very disappointing experience at Eva's Royalmount. The place looks beautiful & trendy, but unfortunately the food & overall experience did not justify the very high prices.
I ordered a simple egg & cheese sandwich on toast for $19 + tax & service, & it did not even come with any vegetables, salad, or potatoes on the side. For that price, I honestly expected a complete plate or at least some sides included. The portion was very basic & underwhelming for the cost. Even coffee was an extra $5, which made the final bill feel even more unreasonable for such a simple breakfast.
The quality was average, & there was nothing unique or exceptional compared to many other brunch & café places in Montreal that offer much better value for the same price or less. For the amount charged, I expected fresher ingredients, better presentation, & a more memorable dining experience.
Another issue was the tipping system. The suggested tips started at 18% & higher, which felt excessive & unclear. In Quebec, customers are already paying taxes, & the standard suggested tip is usually 15% before taxes. Automatically pushing higher percentages creates unnecessary pressure for customers & should be explained more transparently.
But I do want to mention that the waiter was amazing - very polite, professional, & friendly throughout the experience. The service from the staff was honestly one of the few positive parts of the visit.
Unfortunately, the restaurant itself feels overpriced for what it offers. I really wanted to enjoy it because the location & concept have potential, but overall it did not meet expectations. I would not return or recommend it based on my experience.
The food is great, but it is pricey.
Unfortunately, the service really brings the experience down. The person at the front was extremely rude, & the waitress wasn't much better. There was no sense of customer care, & no effort to acknowledge or apologize for issues.
Overall, the lack of basic customer service made it a disappointing visit.
Very expensive but honestly the breakfast was great. The fruits were fantastic & you get soo much. All those berries! So good. It's not a place I would go to everyday due to the crazy price but it is good. Coffee is fanastic!
This place is amazing. I may be a little biased by the name, but it's truly phenomenal.
My cousin took me there for my birthday yesterday & we were warmly greeted by either the owner or manager (I unfortunately didn't catch his name). He gave us such a genuine, welcoming reception that set the tone for the entire experience.
Our server was also incredible-attentive, detail-oriented, & consistently kind throughout the meal.
The food? 10/10.
The ambiance? 10/10.
The service? 10/10.
I would absolutely recommend this place & will definitely be coming back, even just for the atmosphere alone.
I also received a birthday treat from the gentleman who welcomed us. Thank you again for making the afternoon so special!
We had a lovely dinner. The waitress was fantastic. It was a nice spot & the food was outstanding.🥰 We were very glad that we came.
The bagel for 2 for 37$ ( lovers) is one average bagle cut in two ( 4 slices) two boiled eggs, some salmon, tomato, cucumber & 1/2 avocado. This is what regular breakfast places give & its for one person. So why y'all charging 37$ for less food? & sub par bagels??? Either give more food or bring down the price!!!
