Le Escondite Cerveceria de Barrio est un restaurant mexicain situé au centre-ville de Montréal, à quelques pas du Quartier des Spectacles. On y sert de savoureuses spécialités mexicaines et des cocktails Tequila maison.
Escondite ressort comme une adresse mexicaine très appréciée pour son ambiance chaleureuse, son décor et son service attentif, avec des tacos variés (agneau, birria, al Pastor, baja fish) et de bons cocktails; les portions et les prix varient selon les plats, certains clients trouvant les portions petites ou les prix élevés pour la quantité, mais la plupart louent la fraîcheur et les saveurs ainsi que le menu découverte et le service multilingue. Des temporisations existent parfois: service lent, heure de fermeture plus tôt que prévu ou notes négatives sur quelques plats; toutefois l expérience globale est très positive et donne envie de revenir.
Première fois au Escondite à Montréal, étant habituée à celui de Repentigny. Le repas était absolument délicieux & à s'en lècher les doigts! N'hésitez pas à prendre le trio de sauce pour accompagner les tacos, ça donne un bon kick savoureux! Nous étions assis au bar & nous avons eu un service impeccable avec les barman très attentionné !! Très belle soirée arrosée !
We loved our visit here & are so glad that we found this place while visiting Montreal. There were three of us & we decided to try the tasting experience while sitting at the bar. The bartender explained to us what it was, took in account our food allergies, & provided us with an amazing experience in some amazing food options & drinks. The staff were so friendly & really made our experience wonderful. Thank you!

I tried to bring my parents who were visiting from out of town here a couple of days ago for lunch, a Monday in February. After waiting maybe 10 minutes it was about 12:45 which I assumed meant the lunch rush was dying down. There were some empty tables & three seats at the bar. Eventually the maitre d came over & asked if we had a reservation. I didn't, it being lunchtime on a Monday. He immediately said they couldn't help me & walked away. I was shocked given the empty tables & spots at the bar. We had gone to a much fancier restaurant the night before without a reservation & had been offered bar seats which we gladly accepted. If he had even been nicer about it I wouldn't have felt the need to write this negative review. My family always stay at a hotel around the corner from here but we'll never go back.
Endroit sympathique, service excellent, le menu découverte a été savoureux & à la hauteur de nos attentes. On vous le recommande. Sans réservation, nous étions au bar avec un service rapide & les employés sont toujours prêts à échanger.

It was packed at lunch today. I sat at the bar as I was solo. I had a margarita & fish & steak tacos. Damn so good & tasty. Wish I could have had a couple more. I'll be back soon.
Amazing experience as always! The portions could be small for some but I think they are perfect & more importantly very tasty. The service was incredible from the moment we walked in, & the bartender was a true standout. After I asked for a surprise drink, they took the time to craft the perfect cocktail. You can tell they really care about what they do. Highly recommend!
Great Experience! The food & cocktails were great. We sat at the bar & met a fun & dynamic Bartender called Ariel who suggested some avory cocktails. Overall we've spent an amazing evening there! Will def go back.
Can't say enough good things about how amazing Kike is as our bartender. Food's great, menu's solid, but Kike's service is the star of the show & will have you coming back for more!

The quality has gone down
Most items are now flavorless & bland, wings no longer taste of tamarin & are barely sauced. El chapo has no sauce, it just tastes like costco chicken, mango salad has no spice. Nachos 2.0 is gone. Not sure i'll be ordering again

To start with, the drinks were phenomenal - Darlene is a master bartender & our specialty margaritas were so well balanced & tasty - truly some of the best margaritas we've ever had. Then we decided to be adventurous & try the tasting menu as the price was unbeatable. Every single course was delicious & we were so full but the food kept on coming. Really the perfect meal! We will be back next time we are in Montreal!
Première expérience, super ambiance, personnel sympathique & de bon conseil pour le choix du menu. Les tacos sont savoureux & judicieusement relevés. La barman avait beaucoup de style pour préparer les cocktails.

Honestly, one of my favourite places to go have a drink or to eat in the Montreal area. Sometimes, I even go on my own to have a nice & relaxed meal. Also, they make me feel at home over there. Yona & Quique, who are always managing the bar (among others), make amazing cocktails, & it is super fun to have a chat with. 100% recommended! :-)
Première visite dans cet établissement sur la suggestion d'un ami. C'est en plein centre-ville & c'est aussi un bar. Le service est attentionné, efficace. Pour les entrées, on a choisit le ensalada de mangos & le Jamaica cevice, c'était délicieux, frais, bon mélange des textures. En plats principaux, tacos pollos hermanos & all pastor. Encore une fois, on a sentit la fraicheur des ingrédients & c'etait très bon. Pour finir, Key lime, la creme de citron etait bonne, la mousse de coco un peu trop généreuse à mon goût. Il va falloir y retourner pour aller tester les autres plats.
Amazing place. Innovative & welcoming & flexible. Everything we requested we got. We were blown away. The drinks were perfectly balanced (& we take our margaritas very seriously & rarely like a restaurant margarita in Canada). We had Catherine our server commend the bartender! All the food was fantastic especially the cauliflower general tao, the dumpling nachos were tasty & fun, the cauliflower tacos & the fried chicken tacos were amazing. Best of all was Catherine. Her attention to detail, positive & fun attitude, all while she was juggling many tables, ability to explain everything & keep water & drinks flowing, all without lingering & managing many other tables, was brilliant. From the moment we arrived at the restaurant to the moment we left, we felt welcomed, cared for, & appreciated. It was a fantastic experience all the way around.
We had eaten at another one of Escondite Cerveceria de Barrio restaurants on a previous visit to Montreal, & really enjoyed it. They describe themselves as "Escondite Cerveceria de Barrio are Mexican restaurants situated in Montreal, West-Island, Laval & Repentigny, that serves Mexican inspired goodies & house crafted Tequila cocktails." We'd already had lunch, so the choice of small plates was ideal. We chose some guacamole to start with, followed by some very tasty tacos. Really nice: well presented & very delicious. We ate: - Guacamole served with smoked paprika totopos - Coliflor: corn tortilla, paste, crispy cauliflower, black bean pepper crema, coriander - Cochinita Pibil: corn tortilla, pork cooked in banana leaf, marinated onions, black bean paste - Ensalada De Mangos: mango, cucumber, coriander, peanuts, shallots, pickled shallots, crispy chamoy dressing, serrano chile Also posted to my food blog on Instagram @AbbeyKing16
