Loved our time at Escondite. Catherine's service was amazing! She was super friendly & professional. We loved the guacamole & steak tacos. We'll definitely be coming back!
J'ai bien aimé mon expérience dans l'ensemble. J'ai adoré mon entré de gyoza. L'entrée de cheviche de crevette était bon, mais les crevettes étaient un peu trop dures... peut-être un peu trop cuites?! Pour terminé, j'ai pris les tacos al pastor qui était délicieux, mais j'y aurais ajouté un peu plus de sauce. Je recommande 3 plats par personne, car les portions sont de type tapas.
Tres bon mais pas assez copieux pour le prix. Beaucoup de bruit & difficile de s'entendre parler. Nous avons eu 2 pauvres tacos pour 12$ & trois pauvres churros pour 7$ ... c'est tres correct mais je ne conseille pas forcément

From the moment we walked into the restaurant, she greeted us with a warm & welcoming smile, setting the tone for a delightful evening. Throughout our meal, Vicky was attentive & knowledgeable, helping us navigate the extensive tequila menu & offering great recommendations to pair with our tacos. Her genuine enthusiasm for the food & drinks was infectious & added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Vicky's attention to detail & her ability to anticipate our needs made the dining experience truly exceptional. She made sure our glasses were never empty, & our plates were always promptly cleared, all while engaging in friendly & informative conversations about the dishes & their origins. Her friendly & personable nature created a relaxed & inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. Vicky's passion for the cuisine & her dedication to providing top-notch service made Tacos & Tequila night a memorable & enjoyable experience. The tacos are delicious. I love tacos, so I go to many different Mexican/Latin restaurants, & their food is usually good, but this place has amazing texture in their bajas fish & sirloin steak. I got the bajas fish taco, fried chicken taco, & Korean sirloin beef taco. The moment I bit into the bajas fish taco, I felt the soft fluffy but crispy texture of the batter of the fish. I'm very impressed at this fluffy texture. It was so delicious. The fried chicken taco was lacklustre, but still good, similar to what I get elsewhere. I was expecting the sirloin taco to be tough & chewy, as they usually are, but this was marinated, soft, & easily bit, chewed, & swallowed. The flavour was great on this taco, too. I didn't get the chance to try the shrimp taco that I wanted to try, & some other flavours, but I will definitely go back when I get the chance & try the other ones. Edit: I came here in early 2023 & you were still able to get individual tacos of whatever flavour you want, so you can try more flavours. I came here again in November 2023, & this time, you had to get two tacos of whatever flavour you choose. Very disappointing.
Awesome place to grab some tacos, definitely the best I've had in the city. Service was super fast, they really know how to pump the food out! Prices were super reasonable for the quality

I've never had such poor service in a restaurant. From the moment we were seated at our table the waitress made it very clear we were unwelcome. We asked questions about the menu & got very little by way of response. It took forever to get our menus & then an hour to be served & then the order was missing items. When we addressed it she had an attitude & walked away. She never asked if we'd like another drink or if we needed anything.
The food we did receive was, fine. The chilaquiles looked like something you made at home when you're drunk & throw stuff in a bowl - my colleague said it looked like dog food. Fried chicken taco was good - never received our guacamole & chips. The fish taco smelled so bad it made me wonder if it would make me sick. Fresh fish doesn't smell. I'm very surprised given I'd heard great things about the food. Maybe an off night?
When we were able to flag her down she pointed & yelled at me that the item we were waiting for was'coming'. I can completely understand when a restaurant is swamped - it happens - but she made no effort to speak to us or advise us. Every interaction with her made us feel that we shouldn't have come & she didn't want us there. We were there for dinner while on business - we wanted more drinks & were prepared to spend money, but it was clear that it was impossible to order & that she really didn't want our business. Even when we went to pay, she never made eye contact or asked us how our food was, instead stood there with crossed arms looking away. I get it - everyone has a bad day - but I travel all the time, & eat in restaurants frequently & never in my life have I had such poor service. I can understand a kitchen it busy, & service is slow, but that's where the server is supposed to shine. Check in - ask if we need anything. Ask if we want another drink - instead it ruined our evening. I honestly can't recommend this restaurant to anyone - which makes me so sad, because it's a beautiful space in the old port. I'm so disappointed.

Honestly, I had high hopes for this restaurant but was utterly disappointed.
The lunch menu is restricted to tacos only, the portion are really small & prices expensive. The food is regular for the price being charged. Basically, you would need to spend at least 20$ + taxes & tip for lunch...way too expensive.
My guest has a tiny piece of plastic in his taco & I had a type of thread in my taco.
J'ai adoré cet endroit! J'ai été charmé par l'ambiance chaleureuse & le décor à l'allure vintage. Mes amis & moi avons partagé un menu de dégustation élaboré par notre serveur. Ce dernier était très sympathique & poli. Il nous a servi rapidement. La guacamole est l'une des meilleures que j'ai eu la chance de goûter! Les tacos au boeuf & au poulet ainsi que les quesadillas étaient délicieux eux aussi. Les prix sont très abordables. J'ai dépensé 20$, service inclus, & je suis sortie du restaurant avec le ventre bien remplie. J'ai très hâte de retourner chez Escondite pour déguster d'autres plats savoureux!
Quelle surprise. Vraiment, je n'avais jamais entendu parlé de ce restaurant, & j'y allais en espérant rien. Au final, ce fut une de mes expériences culinaires les plus agréables de l'année.
Le décor: à couper le souffle
Le service: Omniprésent. Il y a vraiment beaucoup de staff... seul bémol, je n'ai vu aucune femme travailler, mais c'était p-e un hasard.
La bouffe. Ho la la, la bouffe. J'en bave encore. Les tacos a la morue (jamais je n'aurais commandé ça, c'est ma compagne qui voulait essayer) étaient absolument sublimes. Les tacos au poulet frit étaient eux aussi très très réussis. Ceux à la langue de boeuf étaient surprenants, malgré que le gout de chipotle remportait sur pas mal tout le reste. Le ceviche de crevette était très réussi.
Ma compagne a pris un drink au mescal. Elle a presque léché le fond du verre tellement il était bon.
Seul bémol, les portions sont somme toute petites & les prix un peu élevés. Mais en groupe, si tout le monde commande 2-3 assiettes, les saveurs sont absolument au rendez-vous.
Je suis allée à 2 reprises au Escondite &, à chaque fois, la nourriture était exquise & le service impeccable. Un must = les quesadillas & les tacos (celui au poisson & celui vegé). Incroyable!!!

belle decouverte. Montreal a finalement un cheval de bataille de taille pour ce qui en est de la cuisine mexicaine,
un menu actuel, traditionnel & actualisé aux tendances d'ajourdhuit! c'etait delicieux.
les ailes de poulet a l'erable & au chipotle, le taco au smoked meat ainsi que la quesadilla a la truffe noire.nous n'avons pas essayé les cocktails. je garde ca pour une prochaine fois.
belle atmosphere & bon service. pas chere en plus!
