If you're in Jean Talon Market & are looking for some delicious authentic Mexican food , I would highly recommend you try the Enchiladas Mole & the Platos Del dia.
Fantastic place for authentic Mexican food, located in the center of Jean Talon Market. We've been regulars for many years, & they don't disappoint. It has a great shop inside with a huge variety of Mexican ingredients. Great stop for a meal while doing some food shopping
Best nachos I've ever had are from here. Mains were decent but not bad. Very authentic Mexican style food.
Went here for lunch & found it to be a solid Mexican spot. We got the 1/4 kg chicken tacos & the sopes with chorizo. The tacos were solid, chicken was juicy & tasty & the tortillas were soft (in a good way). The sopes were good but I found the chorizo to be a bit salty but my partner enjoyed them. I wouldn't necessarily come back here but I would recommend to someone who has never tried real Mexican food.
I've been a big fan of El Rey Del Taco for a while. After all they have some of the best tacos & taco meat selections in town. The competition is town is fierce, but they are still in the mix. However, I'm here to talk about breakfast. Jean-Talon market early in the morning when the stands are prepping is always a pleasurable walk & stopping to have breakfast at Rey is a big part of it for me. Talking with Don Javier who welcomes you with a freshly brood pot of coffee & a selection of authentic Mexican recipes is a heartwarming sensation. Whether it be gorditas, chilaquiles or any other option on the menu; everything is freshly made.
Why not if you are looking for a real mexican experience. Simple & tasty. Dishes are well made. Do not forget the churros!
Best mexican food I have ever eaten I hope you visit the restaurant choke & die
Great real Mexican food, love their ceviche mixta, lots of homemade soups, large menu & helpings,
Amazing & authentic Mexican restaurant! Staff was friendly if a bit slow, but the place was nicely decorated with some of the brst Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico! Amazing horchata & quac, I would recommend both, & the choriqueso for sure. If you like it or want to try something new, the beef tongue tacos are great as well.
El Rey del taco is my favourite Mexican restaurant in Montreal!! It's everything you want- authentic, delicious, affordable, & has a great ambiance. I believe there's even a terrace at the back in the summer. The food we had (fish tacos & meat nachos) was amazingly fresh & served quickly. Yummy drinks as well. Will be back asap!!
The food was amazing, Great portion sizes with the option of a smaller portion of 4 or 6 tacos. The horchata was amazing. The space was cozy. Great service. Sold Mexican goods at the back of the restaurant.
Definitely a top spot for Mexican. Went for breakfast & was not disappointed.
The service was good, however, the food left much to be desired. While the guacamole & churros were good, the other dishes fell short of expectations. The flavors were disappointingly bland & lacked the vibrant, bold tastes typically associated with Mexican cuisine. Considering the price point, I expected a more memorable culinary experience. Unfortunately, the lackluster flavors failed to justify the cost. Despite the high ratings from other patrons, my personal experience did not live up to the hype.
Authentic Mexican cuisine, delicious & generous. A must try on your Montréal list, right next to Jean Talon market
