A Mexican restaurant along with Mexican store.
We were at the Jean-Talon market & we dropped in this place for lunch looking at the choices the restaurant offered for vegetarians.
The food & the service were good.
Honestly some of the best Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico. Definitely some of the best chilaquiles I've ever had. Great little spot next to Jean talon market.
This Mexican restaurant is a great spot, especially after spending time at Marché Jean-Talon! I've been here multiple times, & it's always a reliable option for a satisfying meal. I usually order the *Burrito Tradicional* with steak, & it's packed with flavor & generous portions. The steak is well-cooked & tasty, though I do find it a bit too salty for my preference on my each visit. That said, the overall quality & experience keep me coming back.
The location is super convenient, right across from Marché Jean-Talon, making it a perfect place to refuel after exploring the market. The atmosphere is lively, & the service is friendly. If you're in the area & craving Mexican food, this is definitely a solid choice!
Avid eater from Toronto, but these are easily the BEST tacos I've ever had. A sit down restaurant with a small grocery section at the door. A must stop location if you are visiting the Jean Talon Market area. They were having a 6 tacos for 18$ deal which is great value. Had 3 carne (which comes with onions & peppers) & 3 suadero tacos. While both were very delicious, the carne were my favorite. Their house red salsa is hot & peppery, but so delicious I basically drank up the salsa that came with the complimentary tortilla chips.
Authentic Mexican food. Opens early & owner is very friendly & inviting. Always a trusty source of Mexican food at the Jean Talon market.
The food was amazing & the place was close to the farmers market so it was to walk around & see people shopping & all the different types of veggies, fruits, maple syrup, eggs etc. They had two types of salsa medium & hot so we bought extra to take home.
If you're in Jean Talon Market & are looking for some delicious authentic Mexican food , I would highly recommend you try the Enchiladas Mole & the Platos Del dia.
Fantastic place for authentic Mexican food, located in the center of Jean Talon Market. We've been regulars for many years, & they don't disappoint. It has a great shop inside with a huge variety of Mexican ingredients. Great stop for a meal while doing some food shopping
Nice tacos restaurant! A classic in the Jean Talon market. I liked it. Ad an alternative in other Montreal areas, I recommend Victor Tacos (in St- Henri), or yhe more recent but very good Delicioso Mtl next to Beri Uqam.
I've been a big fan of El Rey Del Taco for a while. After all they have some of the best tacos & taco meat selections in town. The competition is town is fierce, but they are still in the mix. However, I'm here to talk about breakfast. Jean-Talon market early in the morning when the stands are prepping is always a pleasurable walk & stopping to have breakfast at Rey is a big part of it for me. Talking with Don Javier who welcomes you with a freshly brood pot of coffee & a selection of authentic Mexican recipes is a heartwarming sensation. Whether it be gorditas, chilaquiles or any other option on the menu; everything is freshly made.
Authentic Mexican cuisine, delicious & generous. A must try on your Montréal list, right next to Jean Talon market
Love this place! I often come here by myself to have the Mexican breakfast after browsing the Jean-Talon market. The portions are very filling & the flavour is there. Service is quick & attentive, but discreet. It's very popular on the weekends, with returning customers from all backgrounds, & many families! They also have a small grocery section where you can buy Mexican ingredients, as well as house-made dips & salsa!
Spare yourself the coin there are so much better / more authentic taco joints in the area. Overpriced, fad flavours, overhyped. Jean-Talon market trap.
