El Chalateco is widely praised for authentic Salvadoran comfort food with pupusas, yucca, tamales and other staples described as delicious and well seasoned, offered at reasonable prices and in generous portions. Reviews consistently note a warm, friendly atmosphere and attentive service that helps create a feel of Latin American hospitality. The menu is varied with vegetarian and vegan options and features combo deals that include a drink, which many say adds strong value. Horchata and maracuja juice are frequently highlighted as fresh and flavorful, while a few guests find some dishes a bit too salty or the service slower at times. Some comments mention smaller pupusas or occasional inconsistency, but overall satisfaction runs high and many say they would return, sometimes making the trip from afar to do so. The place is often described as one of the best Salvadoran spots in town, with generous portions and affordable pricing that keep customers coming back.
Tasty, delicious, & well-priced. It's very hard to find a meal for under $20 these days, but you can find it here. Everyone is kind, efficient & accommodating. An excellent spot
Absolutely delicious food! Everything is flavourful, authentic, reasonably priced the portions are good. they have very interesting combo meals that allow you to try multiple things & have a drink included in the price. I got a delicious & fresh maracuja juice, a pupusa & enchilada. Warm & friendly
service.
If I have to compare the size of the pupusas with another restaurant like La Carreta, the pupusas from El Chalateco are smaller, the price follows too. Well garnished in the pupusas & tasted the melted cheese on each bite. The taste is really good. We also ordered a plate of Yucca, again very small size for the price. But we did love the garnish on the side, marinated onions were very good!

Traditional food , reasonably priced. Taste of El Salvador with a Latin atmosphere ! Just missing a stunning mural of a beach. 🏖? Or a delicious canoa.
Best food of El Salvador!
Food & price are good. Service can be quite poor as they definitely often forget stuff & are pretty unorganized. I would suggest setting defined responsibilities for the service staff.
100/10!! Wonderful restaurant. Food is amazing & a great price. The restaurant is very clean. I tried the horchata, loroco pupusa, res, & fried yuca for dessert. Everything was so good!
Love love love this place. I’ve been several times & the food is amazing each time. The pupusas are really good & tasty. As well as the plátano frito, mondongo & yuca frita. The prices are also very good !

platanos con crema,Yucca,...Now,if you want something different & delicious this the place!& yes, i love their prices too lol
I think their vibe is more friends gathering/group than romantic or formal dinner but i looooove their food :)
