Overall a good experience. The ambiance was great both indoors & outdoors. The food was good, especially the sushi, which was great quality with really good flavours. There was a bit of a delay when we first arrived, we waited a while to be acknowledged & seated, but once we were served, everyone was friendly (it may have just been a busy night).
Head Chef Mertz, along with chefs Jian & Ken, & one of our server Reina were very welcoming & took time to make sure we were well taken care of.
Would recommend, but there's room for improvement with pacing, attentiveness, & acknowledging guests when they arrive.
AVOID THIS PLACE. It's rare to find high-quality food served with such a blatant lack of respect for the customer.
This restaurant is clearly taking advantage of the fact that they are currently the only ones offering this specific cuisine in the area.
They know people are traveling from both close & far for what should be a pleasant, unique experience, but instead, they treat you like an inconvenience once you're through the door or half way through your visit. You get forgotten at some point.
The prices are astronomical for the'service' provided. We spent more time trying to flag down a server either for water refill, an additional plate, & even to get the bill, than we did actually eating. Being short staffed seems to be their most convenient excuse.
It is a total bait-&-switch: you come for the food, but you leave frustrated by the wait & the feeling that you've been exploited because you have no other local options for this type of meal.
***The most insulting part?***
Look at the history of reviews here. Whether it's from a year, 6 months, 3 months, or just days ago,'Candice from customer service' copy-pastes the exact same robotic, templated response to every single complaint.
Oh Candice Candice & management at Ekki Sushi: Save your templated responses, It is crystal clear that no action is being taken to improve. You are not listening, just checking a box while continuing to overcharge for a miserable service experience.
We are never coming back.
Do yourself a favor & stay away until a competitor opens up who actually cares about their guests.
The deluxe platter is just amazing. The sashimi melts on your tongue. There are also a lot of different flavors to taste. It's also a really good portion for two. We were full with the deluxe platter & a miso soup.
Ambiance is ok, we were late on a Sunday night so there was not a lot of people. The service was ok, but it didn't quite match the quality of the food.
We've been going here for the past three years on an annual guys trip & we absolutely love this players. Definitely a superior quality of food.
We had a great time at Ekki Sushi. The staff was very friendly & attentive. The service seemed slower than other sushi places but the presentation of the dishes made the wait worth it. Quality was good, on par with other sushi restaurants. The nice thing about this restaurant is how secluded it is which makes for a very peaceful experience. Definately worth the drive for a change in pace from the village where all other tourists hang out.
Good Sushi in Tremblant.
I recall coming here in Aug. 2021 so we decided to try it again in Aug. 2025.
The decor is still minimal but elegant & the service was great. We sat at the bar position that let's us watch & talk with the Chef - Chef Merts.
The food & sake selection had changed from 2021, but the new menu is of high quality. Chef Merts found out it was Ruth's birthday & he made us a special birthday dessert.
What amazing experience we had! The quality of sushi was absolutely exquisite! The flavours, the presentation, the freshness was truly remarkable. Jose gave us a very professional service & very friendly
Amazing quality of sushi. But the servers need to chill & be a bit more friendly
I got takeout twice. The food is spectacular. The first time, however, I had to wait double the expected time. Tonight I was going to go there for a third time. I arrived at 7:40. I was told I would need to wait for 10 minutes before I could place a takeout order. I waited 25 minutes only to be told that they wouldn't take my order. The host was very apologetic.
It looked somewhat busy, & I get that it takes time to make high-quality sushi. But stay a little later after you've made me wait for 25 minutes just to place a takeout order.
Again, the food is totally worth the price, but I don't think I'll be going back.
The service was quick & very good. Very nice quiet scenic space. The restaurant is located inside the campgrounds. Parking is on a hill. It was not a far drive from Tremblant. The quality of the food was very good.
Wow! The sushi was beautiful & tasted exceptional. It was also reasonably priced for the quality! You must try it if you're in Tremblant
Just love this place! The location is beautiful in the Tremblant area, the decor inside is right on par & the service was beyond what we expected. Our waiter was full of recommendations & we ate like kings. The quality & quality of the fish was perfect & we will definitely be back.
One of the best meals I've ever had! Incredible quality of ingredients, fantastic service, & beautiful decor.
Food is on the more expensive side, but it was worth every penny, & I'll be sure to stop by here again!
Today I placed a pickup order for 5:00 PM & arrived a few minutes early at 4:50. Despite the restaurant only having one table occupied, I was told my order was running late & it would be about 10 more minutes - which I was totally fine with.
However, 20 minutes later, I had to ask again, & this time I was told it would be another 5 minutes. My food finally came out at 5:35.
I really wish the staff had communicated more clearly from the beginning. If the delay was going to be 30 minutes, just letting me know upfront would've made a big difference. Even a small gesture, like offering water while I waited, would have gone a long way.
That said, the food tasted great - no complaints there. Just wish the service matched the quality of the food.
In short - it was one of the best sushi dinners that we have ever had. All of the dishes were mouthwatering, of the highest quality, taste & presentation.
We had miso soup & edamame, also yakitori scallops (we were surprised by having them been served first) as appetizers, then eel & salmon rolls, as well as a torched tuna sashimi($25 for two pieces).
Fried ice cream was excellent, as well.
Yes, this place is pricey, rolls & sashimi range $20-25, but the taste was well worth the price.
However, the drinks are overpriced.
A glass of wine is $15, but charging the same for alcohol-free mocktails & beer $15( for local) & $21 (for an average Japanese blanche) we found simply unreasonable.
The service was prompt & friendly - we'd definitely return when in Tremblant.
Mertz's sushi is hands down the best I've ever had! Every time I visit Mont-Tremblant, I make the 1.5-hour drive just to pick up his sushi from Bel Air. The freshness, authenticity, & attention to detail in every bite make it far superior to anything I've had in Montreal. Even as takeout, the quality remains outstanding-each piece is perfectly crafted & full of flavor. If you're a sushi lover, you must try Mertz's sushi. It's absolutely worth the trip!
Cozy beautiful place in the midst of mountains at Mont Tremblant. The food is exquisite. Best sushi I ever had. Ingredients are top quality. Fish simply melts under tongue. Even the rice has a grain quality of its own. Chef Merts is a gem & so nice & funny too. Kudos to you!
Great food. The quality is definitely there & while the prices are a bit elevated it's definitely worth it. Special attention is given to the presentation but the quality of the food is also superior: both the flavor & texture are noticeably better than even the other good sushis out there
