Review Summary

East Side Mario's presents a polarized dining experience where guests frequently praise the generous portions, affordable pricing, and the popular all-you-can-eat soup, salad, and bread options. While many visitors enjoy the friendly service and lively atmosphere, others report significant challenges regarding lengthy wait times, inconsistent food quality, and issues with restaurant cleanliness, particularly in the washrooms. Experiences seem to fluctuate based on staffing levels and management, leading to a divide between patrons who consider it a reliable family-friendly staple and those who have been left disappointed by slow service and lackluster culinary execution.

Excellent service Bonne bouffe poulet parmegian.

We reserved days in advance for a small group (9) but were seated at tables designed for six with myself given a place with my plate straddling the crack between two tables. Arriving at 5:30 nobody asked if we wanted drinks, taking 15 minutes to bring water. The salads were good but the bread was served with what tasted like margarine (!) & one of our party had her order forgotten & wasn't served until we were almost done. A number of us had veal or chicken parmagiana which was soggy & drowned in non-descript tomato sauce with no detectable parmesan. Several didn't eat more than half of it & declined an offer to take the rest home. The menu doesn't have any lighter choices or options other than pasta as a side. The place was very busy by the time we left but we won't be going back.

Update six months later, despite multiple exchanges with their customer sat group & assurances that someone would contact me, no such contact has happened.

My friend & I had an amazing experience at this restaurant.
We came without a reservation on a Saturday evening & we were quickly assigned a table.
We really didn't have to wait long at any point during our experience.
We arrived at 18h20 & left with a full belly at 19h30.
We received the menu quickly & the waiter came 5 minutes later to take our order.
Parmesan cheese was offered both when we were served the appetizers & main dishes.
The virgin bloody Cesar was excellent.
The Italian wedding soup was very good, my friend even ordered a second serving.
The garden salad was very refreshing & had just the right amount of dressing.
My friend thinks the Canadian calzone was very good. It was served with a side of marinara sauce & spicy oil.
I really liked the spaghetti & meatballs.
All the staff were very friendly & polite.
I read a review saying the waiter did not put his leftover food in a container he will take home. I had the same experience, the waiter left us a container to put our leftovers in, but I think this is completely fine considering the prices at this restaurant are affordable. I would expect the waiter to do it for me if I were dining at an expensive restaurant.

A masterclass in how not to run a restaurant.

We arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday night without a reservation & were seated quickly. That was the only thing that went smoothly.
Then came the waiting game. Forty minutes passed before anyone brought menus or acknowledged us. I started noticing something odd-no one around us had food. It felt more like a holding area than a dining room.

When the waiter finally showed up, we ordered a 4-meat pizza, chicken & shrimp scampi, a Brio, & a Corona Cero. He came by after a good 30-40 minutes to tell us the shrimp might take a while. Apparently, they were catching them fresh.

The food arrived just before 8pm. My pizza looked like it had been ready for ages-dry, barely warm, & the crust? Pure white bread. Not pizza dough. Not even close. It tasted like someone tried to recreate pizza based on a vague description & a blurry photo.

My girlfriend's scampi didn't fare much better. She said the sauce was'unusual,' to put it nicely, ate most but left half of the chicken, & asked for a takeout box. The waiter dropped a plastic container on the table & walked off. No offer to pack it up-apparently, that's now a DIY task. Isn't that why we tip?

To top it off, the $3.99 Corona Cero was listed as a $5.49 Becks s/a on the bill. I didn't bother arguing. The waiter never came back for the card machine anyway-I paid & left, just glad it was over.

Now, to be fair: the staff on hand seemed to be doing their best. But it was painfully obvious they were understaffed for such a busy night, & the whole experience suffered because of it.
This wasn't my first visit, but it will absolutely be my last. If you're in the mood for long waits, dry pizza, & DIY leftovers, this place has you covered.

I've been to other East Side Mario's & was always so pleased .. sadly this location was horrible .. our waitress was ok but we never received our homeloaf bread until we asked for it & recieved it end of the meal .. I ordered Veal Parmesan which is a favourite of mine but my pasta was cold , sauce was cold thé veal was warm, thé coating mushy .. the waitress offered me a salad which didn't make sense salad is supposed to be unlimited FREE with a meal .. happy that my drink was delicious but I'll never recommend this location

To start , we were just really excited to have driven an hour to bromont & get to the restaurant. I did love the atmosphere , reminded me of the eastside marios when i was a kid. But that was not the issue... First we ordered drinks , the bloody was fine but the amareto sour has salt around the rim instead of sugar( you should have seen his face , when he tried his drink🤦‍♀️) so we sent that back ti get a new one. We also ordered a coke (which never got to the table) The garlic bread & salad were good but the soups : the italian wedding soup had 1 meatball in the whole bowl & the tomatoe roasted agrlic soup was Litterally a marinara dipping sauce we ended up using to dip the bread in. (Also we waited 10 minutes to get some forks knives & spoons on the table while the soups were already infront of us..& the restaurant was not a full house at all) By the time the plates got to us ,thw waiter asked if we wanted cheese(3hich he never came with so we started to try the food .. the chicken parm was all sauggy & my penne arrabiata was cold .. really cold.like out of a fridge cold.. We didnt touch our plates & when he came back to ask if all was ok (5 min later maybe ..with no cheese) we just asked for the bill (we reallllly arent picky eaters ,but we did explain why we werent taking the food to go) the waiter was kind enough to not charge one of the plates . We wished it was a better supper .
