Delicious, filling, & super cheap gnocchi -- what more can you ask for? This cute, Instagram-famous shop window serves nothing but gnocchi with homemade tomato sauce; you can only get it to-go, & they don't sell anything else (although you can choose to dress it up with cheese &/or red pepper flakes). Although they only make one thing, they do it incredibly well -- the gnocchi is super soft & pillowy, & it's clear that they started as a tomato sauce shop. The sauce is remarkably flavorful, with the right balance of savory, acidic, & very slightly sweet. It's especially tasty with the pepper, although beware that they like to pour a vat full of red pepper flakes on top. It's served in a Chinese take-out container with chopsticks, which is very cute & feels a bit like a clash of cultures.
The staff is super friendly, & it's 100% worth a stop, especially at their price point of $5 for a giant take-out container. They don't have any seating inside, but there are a few benches nearby that you can plop down on.
The comfort of Nonna's gnocchi starting at $5?!
Delicious gnocchi that is soft & pillowy & a hearty portion to boot.
Tomato sauce was a smidge on bitter side but probably just our batch
Still delicious & highly recommended
$6 gnocchi with cheese, it really doesn't get any better than this ! i didn't expect much for the price point, but the sauce was surprisingly great, the gnocchi was a good texture, & the portion size was generous
This place was quite busy when we arrived. We tried the gnocchi with tomato sauce from the takeout window & it was delicious. The gnocchi were soft & pillowy, & the sauce was so good we ended up buying a jar to take home. Simple, comforting, & full of flavour. We will definitely be going back.
The gnocchi & sauce at this hole-in-the-wall is some of (if not the best) food I've eaten in Montréal. For under $6 you can get a delicious, authentic takeout box of freshly made gnocchi, topped with a rich tomato pasta sauce, plus chili flakes or parmesan cheese if you like. We loved it so much that we returned to buy the gnocchi & pasta sauce in bulk, taking it home to Toronto & flying it to Vancouver to share with family later! Note that they accept cash & debit. Highly recommend visiting, I'll be back!
Tried the gnocchi for the first time. I've wanted to try for years but live far away. Got my fix & maybe I'm missing something but sorry can't say anything special about what I tried. The sauce was weird because I was expecting to be blown away & it was strange. Sauce was bland. Gnocchi was nice & plump & filled the container but that sauce just took your taste buds away from the gnocchi. Used to live in the McGill ghetto & hung out around the Main for decades so I know the area well. Changed a lot & not for the good but still a nice place.
Why the hype? People by the droves picking up a quick box of gnocchi with tomato sauce… cheap ($5) but quite disappointing, mainly because of the sauce. The gnocchi itself is good, not too large & plentiful, but it's destroyed by the sauce which is most definitely from a can; an industrial-sized one. Had I known, I would have asked them to hold the sauce & just do Parmesan & chili flakes. Oh well. The price is right.
Efficient service, super affordable ($5) & tasty gnocchi. I would definitely go back for a quick local bit to go. The gnocchi were very soft & fresh & the sauce was pretty good, I had the cheese gnocchi.
The hardest store name to remember but also the easiest to find because when you search up'delicious 5$ gnocchi' Drogheria Fine is the first place that pops up. All year long no matter the weather, when I'm in a rush for a quick meal this place is my first thought. The gnocchis are chewy, plump & everything you can wish for in a comfort meal. The portions are seriously generous + the tomato sauce is always so rich & with little extra cheese it becomes perfection. If you want to feel like you're on cloud nine from the flavours come here. I love this place (& it's vegetarian).
Stopped in yesterday & despite a long line, it moved rather quickly.
Menu is definitely very limited (gnocchi with cheese with option to add spicy or gnocchi with extra cheese & spicy).
The gnocchi was pillowy & filled to the brim of the takeout container for $6. Sauce tasted good but would've paid more for them to use real parm cheese than the typical store bought parm.
Chopsticks come with the gnocchi but charged extra for forks which is a bit annoying as chopsticks were not ideal for it.
For a quick, cheap snack we would definitely go back.
The price is great, that's about the only positive thing about the gnocchi. They're a bit too chewy, like they were overcooked. The sauce is basically chef Boyardee's, its oily, acidic & tastes like basic tomato sauce. The parmesan is not fresh so it smells. Also dislike the chopstick gimmick.
This is the best dang Gnocchi place i have ever eaten. I live in Ottawa & I purposefully pass by Montreal to stop here EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. it is GOD send. Eating the Gnocchi here feels like I died & went to heaven. Eating the food here feels like an oasis in the Sahara dessert. The sauce is amazing. The service is fire. Everything is good.
Cool little street food-type stall offering a nice cheap meal! The gnocchi are basically little tiny balls of dough after steeping in the sauce for a while but they're still good! The sauce was nicely spiced & tasted great. Can't complain for the price.
