My favorite place to eat Chinese food in Montreal! All their meat options are delicious, we usually order the two-meat plate with char siu pork & chicken & its amazing every time. Service is very standard, nothing special, & the place has a charming, weathered appearance - lots of old movie posters. A little grungy but the food really makes up for it. We love ordering take out!View more
Last time I came here was before COVID. Unfortunately, it's been a disappointment. Used to take the lunch combo. Took the Cantonese chow mein & pork soup noodles.
Cantonese chow mein : they used oyster sauce to make the sauce… big no already. Too salty but not even flavour. Dish was really small for a Chinese dish. There was no'Wok fire' taste at all, felt like cooked at home.
Pork noodles : broth could had a bigger hit of flavour, overall it was ok.
Milk tea was good.
Btw : What happened to all Asian employees ? Even the chef isn't Asian.View more
Dobe & Andy came highly recommended as a must-try spot for Chinese BBQ in Montreal, so we were really looking forward to it-especially coming from Toronto, where great & affordable Chinese BBQ options are everywhere.
Unfortunately, it ended up being a big disappointment. When we arrived, it was a bit chaotic & unclear whether we were supposed to line up or just wait to be seated-there wasn't much direction. Once we got seated & looked at the menu, we noticed the prices were quite high compared to what we're used to in Toronto. Still, we were hopeful the food would make up for it.
But when the food arrived, the portions were underwhelming for the price. The large green vegetable dish alone was over $14. The BBQ pork (cha siu) was a major letdown-dry, thickly cut, & lacking flavor. The roast pork was also dry & didn't come with nearly enough sauce. The BBQ duck was decent, but nothing special.
Overall, we left pretty disappointed. Honestly, I could walk into any Chinese BBQ spot in Toronto-even the ones inside grocery stores-& get better BBQ pork than what we had here. It just didn't live up to the hype.View more
Best authentic Chinese restaurant I know! Great staff, friendly, fast, courteous. Great pricing. Highly recommended!View more
The food is very tasty & not overly greasy. The only way I could describe it is what I imagine Chinese food tasted like in the 70s. I will definitely eat here again & recommend to my friends. Hidden gem.View more
Now THIS is a Chinese restaurant! The food was the best I've had in Montreal & the atmosphere really added to the feel. Brings me back to my time in Hong Kong. But the service was the best part. Zoe was a gem, a national treasure, & if you are blessed to have her wait your table I guarantee you won't be disappointed. May she be blessed by all the deities she believes in.View more
As a traveler from Hong Kong, I can tell that the atmosphere feels like the old times in Hong Kong. However, the food I have ordered was not that great. Firstly, BBQ Pork & Roasted Pork are supposed to have different tastes, but the restaurant seems to have similar marination. Secondly, BBQ Pork & Roasted Pork are supposed to have certain percentage of grease to have better "grilled" tastes, but the meat here were too thin & so not tendered. Thirdly, BBQ Pork & Roasted Pork in Hong Kong are affordable food for the general public, which is manifested in the great portion & great price. The food here are not that expensive, but the portion of meat seems to be too not generous. Fourthly, BBQ Pork & Roasted Pork are supposed to have some kind of black & crispy texture at the edge (膿邊 in Chinese), but the meat here certainly ignore that important part. The iced milk tea is good that the tea base is Hongkongese. The use of milk makes it more compatible with the Hong Kong style. The size of the milk tea is big, which is quite similar to Hong Kong. Overall, I would say that in Canada, especially in Montreal, you cannot expect too much in Chinese food. But it's generally ok compared with other Chinese food in Northern America.View more
Not whole lot of authentic Chinese flavor in the food. The place is affordable for a cheap meal.View more
Best Chinese food I ever had!!!!! The whole atmosphere of this place, the music, the decorations, their incredible service is just one beautiful thing but then is time for the food to show up ... COMPLETELY FANTASTIC Wonderful experienceView more
One of my fave Chinese food spots in Montreal. Love the roasted pork, chow mein, & fried rice.View more
GREAT Chinese restaurant to go to for an afternoon lunch. I had duck chow mein, bok choy & a 3 meat plattet of bbq pork, roasted pork & duck. We also got this amazing hot sauce that I wish I had at home.View more
The food is very delicious! As a Chinese person who is very authentic, I think the food would be loved by all.View more
LUH ITERALLY the best Chinese food I've ever had in my life. I was groaning the whole time. You're a god damn idiot if you don't eat here today like right now why else would you be reading this reviewView more
The food is super tasty & basic. The menu of Chinese food standards hasn't changed in years Perfect for the student budget or for a family wishing to pay Fast Food prices for a sit down, home cooked plate of classics. Gluten free options are very limited, but if you tell them they can serve you a good meal.View more
Amazing Chinese BBQ meat! Very nice & friendly services. Will definitely come back if we ever have a chance. ❤️View more
Food was amazing! Everything we ordered was a hit! Roast meats platter, hk pork chop over rice, yang chow fried rice, chow mein (crispy noodles), Chinese broccoli, etc. Will definitely come again when in town, wontons, etc.!View more
I'm disappointed to post this review as I'd like to support this restaurant & gave it several opportunities to find a customer for life. First off, I would say I visited half a dozen times previously with mixed results including closed without notice, & out of bbq meat by 6pm. My most recent visit will likely be my last try. I rsvp'd (through Instagram & confirmed with the person running their Instagram) for a special dinner offered for Chinese new year. The menu sounded delicious & I invited friends & family to come along. When we arrive, we're informed that they are sold out of all the dishes that were part of the special menu & were not even aware of our reservation. The hostess was very apologetic & offered a slight discount on our meal. We should've walked out because the food that followed was not worth the hassle. More brown gravy than food, more rice than any other component, each dish was a disappointment. Worst example: We ordered eggplant & beef, a pretty traditional Chinese dish. We got 2 pieces of eggplant to share across 6 people, & probably a handful of pieces of beef. Add 2 cups of plain brown gravy & a bowl of rice for $20. I rarely leave bad reviews. But I wouldn't want others to be blindsided like we were.View more
We were downtown Montréal & my family wanted Chinese food. I really did not want food that I could eat at home But, I am so happy we went to Dobe & Andy Chinese restaurant. The food was amazing & our waitress ( Zoe) was incredible & very knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were on point. The barbecue meats are so good. If you are in Montréal, don't miss this restaurant. Thank you, ~ ZoeView more
Honestly, not very good. Everything is very very salty, oily, & sweet (more so than other Chinese food) Our chowmein was clearly sitting in an oven to keep hot because the edges were burned & black. The soy chicken & BBQ pork were quite good, but the duck was overly salty. The service was slow but nice. After being seated, the food came really quickly.View more
If you've never been to Dobe & Andy don't walk RUN! It is probably the best Chinese food we've had, every dish is delicious. We discovered them last year & we probably have it twice a month. Best wonton soup I've had & don't snooze on their Chinese new year special!View more
Been a regular here for years for good reason. Probably the best HK style Chinese outside of HongKong, easily a contender for the best in Canada much less North America. Amazing portions for the price & all the meats are done perfectly. Every dish is beyond delicious, highly recommend checking out everything on the menu. Don't sleep on the specials either. Unfussy & straightforward old-school ambience with great staff. See you soon Dobe & Andy's!!View more
Very nice & simple restaurant, serving traditionnal & modern hong kong style food. Fast & amazing service too! Highlights : - Char Siu Pork - Crispy roast pork belly - Well Seasoned fried chicken! They kept to same retro style as the old restaurant (it was a chinese noodle before) & it brings out some childhood memories ♥️View more
I had a hard time finding this place but I asked some Chinese kids & they pointed me in the right direction. The young last who greeted me also took my order when I told her what I was looking for & brought my food out to me. Haha I literally only wanted a small portion of the crispy pork belly & char shui over some rice & it was delicious! At to the fact that they were playing Taylor Swift's Red album & I was in heaven! It was a very simple meal that I wanted & got. Also my first meal in Montreal after checking into my hotel. I would recommend! *Sorry about the pic. I always forget to take one before I start eating!View more
Hits the spot for a particular type of Chinese food craving. Fried rice was better than expected.View more
Had a lot of expectations about this place with all the rave reviews. I must say that this was my first time eating this sort of Chinese food.
I was a bit disappointed. The food was good, but not as good as what I was hoping. We had the soya chicken & char siu signature dishes. We had a preference for the char siu, but we're disappointed nonetheless, both lacked flavor & texture in our opinion.
Service was very quickView more
Had some of the best Chinese I've had in years. Would recommend!View more
Decent Chinese food. The wok hei on the stir fried bok choy was pretty good but the noodles were cold & not as firm as I would have liked. The duck was good but the char siu was rather dry. Friendly staff.View more
