This time around, we actually sat & took the time to dine.
Their noodles is something else & this time it was different.
Located inside a building, not hard to find. I'm usually in for these type of food for the price & quality. This place, the quality was not there. Ordered the roasted pork/BBQ pork combo. Roasted pork had more fat than meat, the skin was chewy. BBQ pork is usually moist but it was on the dry side, sauce should've been added but zero was added. Young Chow Fried Rice was the only decent part of the experience.View more

Dobe & Andy came highly recommended as a must-try spot for Chinese BBQ in Montreal, so we were really looking forward to it-especially coming from Toronto, where great & affordable Chinese BBQ options are everywhere.
Unfortunately, it ended up being a big disappointment. When we arrived, it was a bit chaotic & unclear whether we were supposed to line up or just wait to be seated-there wasn't much direction. Once we got seated & looked at the menu, we noticed the prices were quite high compared to what we're used to in Toronto. Still, we were hopeful the food would make up for it.
But when the food arrived, the portions were underwhelming for the price. The large green vegetable dish alone was over $14. The BBQ pork (cha siu) was a major letdown-dry, thickly cut, & lacking flavor. The roast pork was also dry & didn't come with nearly enough sauce. The BBQ duck was decent, but nothing special.
Overall, we left pretty disappointed. Honestly, I could walk into any Chinese BBQ spot in Toronto-even the ones inside grocery stores-& get better BBQ pork than what we had here. It just didn't live up to the hype.View more

On a aussi pris un plat de nouilles guilin qui n'était pas mauvais, mais pour ce genre de plat, vaut mieux aller au Noodle factory.View more

Meilleure valeur à Montréal Dobe & Andy se taille une place de choix dans le quartier chinois. Après plusieurs visites, un de nos endroits préférés pour un repas sans prétention mais qui laisse une bonne impression. Allez-y pour un choix de 2 viandes (porc BBQ + canard) & ajoutez-y un légume vert comme du gui lan (broccoli chinois, servi avec sauce aux huîtres). Les oignons verts font toute la différence. Service rapide & amical par un staff efficace & allumé sous un feu roulant de commandes des clients. Salle à manger décorée d'images retros de films style Kung Fu avec un plafond rappelant les meilleurs années du Funkytown ou du Palais des Miroirs. Mise-à-jour octobre 2024 : le spécial du jeudi, boeuf Hofun à essayer, très bon, seulement disponible le jeudi de chaque semaine. Beau, bon, pas cher. Fortement recommandé. Disclaimer: I went to this restaurant at the end of the day, about an hour & a half before closing on a Monday. So I'm not going to judge too harshly. I really enjoyed the vibe. I kept thinking I was in a movie in the 80s. Which is great. The service was great. I'd like to try another dish before I make a final judgment. Because the chicken fried rice & dumplings were super good. My BBQ beef was a little "bony." What can I say? I'd still recommend it, though. Also, it wasn't super expensive for what you got!View more

Ordered BBQ Pork through Doordash, honestly, it. was. incredible. I bought 1lb of BBQ pork & a side of steamed rice & they paired very well together, I ended up saving half of the BBQ pork for another meal because it's a good portion. (I mean it is a pound). Very worth it.View more

As a traveler from Hong Kong, I can tell that the atmosphere feels like the old times in Hong Kong. However, the food I have ordered was not that great. Firstly, BBQ Pork & Roasted Pork are supposed to have different tastes, but the restaurant seems to have similar marination. Secondly, BBQ Pork & Roasted Pork are supposed to have certain percentage of grease to have better "grilled" tastes, but the meat here were too thin & so not tendered. Thirdly, BBQ Pork & Roasted Pork in Hong Kong are affordable food for the general public, which is manifested in the great portion & great price. The food here are not that expensive, but the portion of meat seems to be too not generous. Fourthly, BBQ Pork & Roasted Pork are supposed to have some kind of black & crispy texture at the edge (膿邊 in Chinese), but the meat here certainly ignore that important part. The iced milk tea is good that the tea base is Hongkongese. The use of milk makes it more compatible with the Hong Kong style. The size of the milk tea is big, which is quite similar to Hong Kong. Overall, I would say that in Canada, especially in Montreal, you cannot expect too much in Chinese food. But it's generally ok compared with other Chinese food in Northern America.View more

Food was a 3/5 for us, the meats (bbq pork & duck) were both just too salty which perhaps we are the outliers who find that many restaurants in Montreal serve extremely salty meat. Loved the laid back ambience & staff tho. Would return for a nice cold ice tea out of the hot sun.View more

Really delicious BBQ pork & duck. BBQ pork was fatty & juicy, the duck was very flavourful. The large vegetables was smaller than expected but still quite tasty, a good amount of garlic used. I'm disappointed to post this review as I'd like to support this restaurant & gave it several opportunities to find a customer for life. First off, I would say I visited half a dozen times previously with mixed results including closed without notice, & out of bbq meat by 6pm. My most recent visit will likely be my last try. I rsvp'd (through Instagram & confirmed with the person running their Instagram) for a special dinner offered for Chinese new year. The menu sounded delicious & I invited friends & family to come along. When we arrive, we're informed that they are sold out of all the dishes that were part of the special menu & were not even aware of our reservation. The hostess was very apologetic & offered a slight discount on our meal. We should've walked out because the food that followed was not worth the hassle. More brown gravy than food, more rice than any other component, each dish was a disappointment. Worst example: We ordered eggplant & beef, a pretty traditional Chinese dish. We got 2 pieces of eggplant to share across 6 people, & probably a handful of pieces of beef. Add 2 cups of plain brown gravy & a bowl of rice for $20. I rarely leave bad reviews. But I wouldn't want others to be blindsided like we were.View more

Honestly, not very good. Everything is very very salty, oily, & sweet (more so than other Chinese food) Our chowmein was clearly sitting in an oven to keep hot because the edges were burned & black. My favourite restaurant in Montreal, the value you get for your money is difficult to beat! Love their bbq pork (siu yuk), It comes by default with a delicious scallions sauce. Make sure you order three meat choices if you're really hungry, also some rice on the side, it will still be quite affordable. Ps - there is a relatively affordable parking in the basement of the building.View more
