Dawa Chicken is excellent - I absolutely love it. The chicken is consistently high quality & always very tasty. It's one of those places you can rely on, & the flavor never disappoints.
The only downside for me is that they don't offer bone-in chicken. I always have to order boneless, which is a bit disappointing, as I really wish they had the option for bone-in or even a whole chicken. They could also at least offer to buy a whole chicken instead of half the half ! At the NDG location, they offer this differently, which I personally prefer.
That said, this location is much closer to me, so it would be far more convenient if they added those options. Hopefully, they'll consider improving this in the future, because overall, I truly enjoy their chicken & order from them often.
A wonderful modern-style Korean restaurant, but they have the major traditional dishes as well. I have to highlight the exceptional quality of the food here, & the consistency of the experience. I've now ordered from or been to Dawa on Mont Royal over a dozen times in the past couple of years & have always been very impressed with everything.
The recipes seem authentic to me, especially the spiciness level of the tteokbokki (if you ask for spicy, they have milder options). It does remind me of the food I had in Korea.
The fried chicken, their signature offering, is really nice & is very different to what you may consider as Western/fast food style fried chicken.
Good choice of Fried Chicken flavours, but lacking in other traditional Korean options. I was also craving some Samgyupsal.
I only popped in here to kill time before a dinner reservation nearby. Meaning, I wasn't planning to eat, just drink a little, but we got a golden fried chicken combo to split & ate ALL OF IT. This is a very legit Korean fried chicken!
It reminded me of local hole-in-the-wall'chimek' spots in Korea -'chimek' stands for chicken & beer ('mekju'). Plenty of soju & magkeolli options (get the peach if unfamiliar). Very good & very nostalgic.
Would recommend coming here & getting comfortably wasted with friends! Or, just come get their amazing Korean fried chicken
