Review Summary

DaWa Chicken earns high marks for crispy, juicy fried chicken and flavorful sauces, with a wide menu that also features Korean favorites like tteokbokki, bibimbap, and creamy noodles, all presented in generous portions and a modern clean setting. The chicken is consistently praised for its quality and taste, often described as authentic and reminiscent of Korean fare, and the sauces and cheese toppings are frequent standouts. Service is repeatedly highlighted as friendly, attentive, and efficient, with staff able to switch between French and English, contributing to a welcoming vibe. The experience is enhanced by a bright, cozy atmosphere and reliable consistency, making it a popular go-to for dine-in or takeout, and many reviewers say they would return and recommend it. Some drawbacks include the lack of bone-in chicken options at certain locations and occasional timing issues or conflicting kitchen closings that can slow the service, as well as the mixed reception of some dishes like seafood pancake, though the chicken and tteokbokki remain top picks. Overall, DaWa Chicken comes across as a strong favorite and a solid value for flavorful Korean fried chicken.

I can't believe it took me that long to find that gem!!
. Portions are incredibly generous, both my friend & I took home a full lunchbox
. The chicken is probably the best I got in a long (looong) time. Tasty, great sauces, & so light. We took the bestie combo 2, & all flavors were to die for.
. We also took one individual plate to share, & honestly, we were really full. & that's considering the fact we entered the restaurant claming to be starving.
. The woman that attended to us was extremely thoughtful, & it made the whole experience all the more enjoyable.
. Sensorial bonus: the lightning, & also the similiar leather covers for the table, it was the best to touch.

Dawa Chicken is excellent - I absolutely love it. The chicken is consistently high quality & always very tasty. It's one of those places you can rely on, & the flavor never disappoints.

The only downside for me is that they don't offer bone-in chicken. I always have to order boneless, which is a bit disappointing, as I really wish they had the option for bone-in or even a whole chicken. They could also at least offer to buy a whole chicken instead of half the half ! At the NDG location, they offer this differently, which I personally prefer.

That said, this location is much closer to me, so it would be far more convenient if they added those options. Hopefully, they'll consider improving this in the future, because overall, I truly enjoy their chicken & order from them often.

I recently visited DaWa Chicken in Plateau-Mont-Royal. While there were some definite highlights to the meal, the experience was a bit of a mixed bag due to service speed & one specific dish.

The Good
• Fried Chicken Combo: This was the star of the show! The chicken was perfectly crispy & flavorful. We really enjoyed the variety of sauces & the crunch.
• Korean Rice Cakes (Tteokbokki): These came with fish cakes & a generous layer of melted cheese on top. The texture was great & the flavors were spot on. Highly recommend these two!

The Bad
• Seafood Pancake: This was a major disappointment. It felt like it was rushed on high heat-the outside was overcooked/burnt while the inside remained raw & gooey. It wouldn't hold its shape & just fell apart when touched. Definitely wouldn't recommend ordering this.

The Service
• Wait Time: We waited about 40 minutes for our three courses to arrive. For a casual dinner, that felt significantly too slow, especially considering the kitchen timing issues with the pancake.

Final Verdict: Go for the chicken & the rice cakes, but maybe skip the pancakes & be prepared to wait a while for your food.
