Darbar is widely praised as an intimate, cozy, family run Indian restaurant in Montreal where flavors are rich and dishes are prepared with care and from scratch. Reviewers note attentive service and a warm, personalized dining experience with moments such as the staff coming to the table to explain dishes and tailor them to spice preferences. The menu is described as authentic and varied, with balanced spices and fresh ingredients and occasional seasonal highlights. The ambiance is consistently described as cozy and charming, with real candles, dim lighting, and a mix of quiet dinners and lively jazz on select nights, plus a winter indoors and summer patio vibe. Pricing is considered reasonable for the quality and for sharing plates with friends or family. Dietary needs are well accommodated, including gluten free and vegan options, and staff are noted for asking about spice tolerance and customizing dishes. While most experiences are outstanding, some reviews mention slower service in a small, busy space and a few dishes that were less impressive. Overall, this spot is seen as a standout for authentic Indian cuisine in Montreal and a must visit for food lovers.
What an amazing experience, first of food was so delicious, we tried different dishes & all of them had such an amazing flavour, made freshly & with care. The service matched the food. Few times I have received such a friendly, anthemic & honest service where the server's priority clearly is to help & accommodate. Will definitely go back again.
Stunning. The patio section created the perfect ambiance for eating al fresco on a warm summer evening. The staff, including the chef, was exceptional & very personable. All the food was made fresh upon our order & you could taste the difference. Best Chicken Tikka Masala
(& garlic naan) I have ever eaten. I can't wait for my next visit to Montreal so I can get another meal at Darbar.

Excellente adresse! Les plats étaient délicieux, les serveurs donnent de bons conseils & le chef est venu se présenter. On s'est senti très choyés. On reviendra!
Thank you for accommodating our group of 11 in your lovely restaurant. I know the size of our group was a bit of a challenge, but the food was great, the nan was the talk of the team & we had a great time. Thank you again I'd will recommend others to visit when in Montreal.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in a city with an abundance of great places to eat.
The food is exquisitely prepared. The depth & complexity of the seasonings is truly impressive. The service is very friendly & attentive. & the prices are, in my opinion, very reasonable.
The best Indian food we've had in Montreal. The owner & Chef took the time to greet us & explain the menu. We were a party of 6 & felt well cared for, not rushed & comfortable. The recommended wine was perfect, the beer tasty & the food bursting with flavor. Darbar is a small space with outdoor seating. We enjoyed it all.
This was our first visit to Montreal & so to Darbar & this was an amazing first experience
Simar & his team of committed, well mannered & cheerful members ensured an excellent service, great taste & memorable cocktails.
Overall, full marks & top recommendation.
