This is my second visit to Darbar while visiting Montreal, & it has become a must stop on any visit. Chef Simar & his staff are welcoming, & the food can't be beat!
Big fan of Indian food & have had a hard time finding a restaurant in Montreal that reminded me of my time living in Mumbai but after trying Darbar, I am sold ! I had heard about it from multiple people & was very happy that I finally was able to try it, worth the wait & worth the price ! The portions are generous & the blend of spices/creaminess of the sauces is just heavenly ! The owners are also incredibly sweet & even offered us some beers on the house ! Definitely worth the detour ! 10/10 food & 10/10 hospitality !🫶
Our family of 5 went to Darbar for our 8p reservation on last Sunday. We ordered masala tea, chicken malai kebab, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, malai kofta, garlic naan, & gulab jamun. The food was wonderfully delicious. The lady who waited our table was very friendly & attentive. Coming from NY, we are not easily impressed with Indian food. This small family run restaurant is a gem. Highly recommended!

I had the pleasure of dining at Darbar during Jazz Fest. They were able to get me & my friends in for a last minute reservation & kept the kitchen open late to accommodate us. Despite us being the last people there, we were not rushed, & were given excellent service. The food was top tier, & the staff was amazing. Definitely recommend for anybody looking for the best Indian food in Montreal!
I've been to Darbar Restaurant several times now, & it just keeps pulling me back! This time, I celebrated my birthday dinner on July 8 with my son & my boyfriend, & once again, the experience was exceptional from beginning to end.
The food was absolutely amazing-delicious, rich in flavor, perfectly seasoned, & beautifully prepared. Every bite was a treat. Even my boyfriend, who isn't used to spicy food, absolutely loved his meal, which says a lot!
One thing that truly sets Darbar apart is the hospitality. The chef & owner is incredibly welcoming & takes the time to personally visit every table to make sure everyone is enjoying their meal. That personal touch makes you feel like more than just a customer.
The food, the service, & the warm atmosphere are why I keep coming back. I highly recommend Darbar to anyone looking for outstanding Indian cuisine. We can't wait for our next visit!

I can't thank Chef Simar & his team enough for a very special night on the occasion of our daughter's graduation from McGill. Darbar has been our favourite restaurant in Montreal since she moved there, so it was the perfect venue to celebrate her graduation. Even better, I contacted Chef Simar in advance & he organised a gorgeous cake for her, as well as letting us get there early to decorate the table. Our daughter & her friends were blown away, as were we. It felt like so much more than just an evening at a restaurant.... It was like a great family party with the most delicious food imaginable. Now we need to find another reason to keep coming back to Montreal & Darbar!
Very delicious food & the service was top notch, including from the chef himself who stopped by the table to say hello & offer customized dishes for our kids. The Carolina reaper & coconut curry was a stand out, as were the chicken kebab appetizers. It's clear that everyone at Darbar takes great pride in their work & the restaurant. I would recommend to anyone visiting Montreal!
Four of us (myself, my wife & our 2 adult children) visited Darbar on Thursday evening. It's a smallish restaurant, not noisy with a nice atmosphere. We had a reservation but arrived early. We sat on the terrasse & had a drink while we waited for our table. The cocktails were excellent. Shortly after being seated at our table Chef arrived, greeted us & before discussing the menu noticed our son's'FROM' sweatshirt. Chef & his girlfriend are FROM fans & this lead to a discussion about the series. The chef then discussed the menu with us. All 4 of us decided on the sampler platter (I forget the name of it) along with an appetizer for 4. The'kids' opted for the meat option while my wife & I had the vegan option. Chef changed the standard vegetarian option to vegan for us. The food & service was excellent. The waiter checked in with us a few times & Chef also stopped by to make sure everything was ok. As we were leaving Chef chatted with us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction (which it was) & for a general chit-chat. It's obvious that Chef is a natural'people person' as we saw him visit each table in the restaurant. We had a great time & great food....we will be back.
Another GP Canada ... & another fabulous dinner at Darbar. Our family visits beautiful Montreal each Spring to take in the Canadian Grand Prix. & each Spring Darbar is number one on our list of must-visit restaurants. The Punjabi cuisine is truly phenomenal--culinary genius combined with unabashed passion. Thank you to Simar & the staff at Darbar for yet another memorable F1 family'Dinner at Darbar' experience. Simply amazing!
