Our family had an excellent meal here. The menu changes seasonally. We stuck to the vegitarian options at our visit & thoroughly enjoyed it. It is run by the son of the original owner. He is the head chef & was very friendly & helpful with our menu selection.
Went for dinner here while visiting from out of town & had the best time. Chef Simar & the whole team were so welcoming & helpful with recommendations. The food was incredible. We started with the samosay pakoray, then the murgh tikka masala & the madrasi bakra with rice & garlic naan. For cocktails we had the patiala sunrise & the gulaabo. Highly recommend & can't wait to come back. Thanks, Darbar!
We had an amazing family birthday dinner. The food was incredible, & everyone treated us like family. Thank you for this lovely experience that we won't soon forget!
I'm almost reticent to write this review as I selfishly want to keep this place my fave secret spot in Montreal. But it is too good not to share & they deserve all good things. This was our fourth or fifth visit - it's become a pilgrimage every time we visit Montreal. The cuisine is freshly prepared & incredibly delicious. The chef is present, hospitable, eager to talk ingredients, heat levels, preferences. Truly a gem.
Accueil chaleureux, les deux serveurs sont vraiment très cools.
La nourriture est excellente & l'ambiance du restaurant aussi : lumière tamisée, musique, couverts & assiettes au style indien
Bonne adresse !
Absolutely GOATED. Simar & his team have worked together & created an experience that punches far above its weight class. They have mastered the basics of service & gone well beyond in service, with Simar personally taking into account your tastes when preparing dishes.
& let me get to the food. They have a life changing murgh malai, the texture & flavor pushing the limits of perfection of what chicken is capable of.
The mains continue to impress, with a jalfrezzi that changed the mind of a pepper hater & a tikka masala that will top the list of any indian food enjoyers. The spice can challenge you, if you've chosen to ask Simar to crank up the heat a bit, but if it's what you asked for you'll find yourself wanting more & more.
Finally the desserts. While I was filled nearly to the brim, I was presented with two lovely scoops of experimental kulfis. A beautiful falooda & a nice mellow malai, each complementing the complexity & simplicity of each other.
Simar understands amazing food & I hope he continues to advance his passion when it comes to darbar.
Without a doubt a must-go for anyone in Montreal.
Small tip: While they may have seats available, make sure to book a reservation to make sure you get a seat as it is a pretty small place.
