Darbar is widely praised as an intimate, cozy, family run Indian restaurant in Montreal where flavors are rich and dishes are prepared with care and from scratch. Reviewers note attentive service and a warm, personalized dining experience with moments such as the staff coming to the table to explain dishes and tailor them to spice preferences. The menu is described as authentic and varied, with balanced spices and fresh ingredients and occasional seasonal highlights. The ambiance is consistently described as cozy and charming, with real candles, dim lighting, and a mix of quiet dinners and lively jazz on select nights, plus a winter indoors and summer patio vibe. Pricing is considered reasonable for the quality and for sharing plates with friends or family. Dietary needs are well accommodated, including gluten free and vegan options, and staff are noted for asking about spice tolerance and customizing dishes. While most experiences are outstanding, some reviews mention slower service in a small, busy space and a few dishes that were less impressive. Overall, this spot is seen as a standout for authentic Indian cuisine in Montreal and a must visit for food lovers.
Had such a great experience at Darbar Restaurant! The food was absolutely exceptional & felt incredibly authentic to Indian cuisine. The lassi especially was a true Punjabi experience
The atmosphere was beautiful, & there was even live music when I visited which made everything feel extra special.
Most importantly, the service was outstanding. You can really tell the head chef is deeply passionate & dedicated to what he does, & it truly shows in every detail
Highly recommend!
Meilleur Korma & Saag à vie! Vraiment!
What a delight this restaurant is! Chef Simar visited us at the table over dinner before taking our order, & even checked on us after preparing our meal. The garlic naan was to die for; every curry & dish we had was painstakingly made lactose-free for us, & we couldn't be more pleased. The Patialo Sunrise was delectable; the Ambala Whiskey Sour delicious. Please come support this excellent business!
Ordered veg Thali, Shahi paneer & garlic nan
I could have gone for zero stars but Google does not allow.
1) starting with Thali all food was spilled & messed ohk maybe it could be a mistake of delivery guy.
2) I got a very weird combination of baigan bharta , nan Palak with chana & plain rice who eats them together? This shows their laziness that what they have already made for Ala carte they give in Thali no pre decided thing that's why they haven't even put on their uber to choose.
3) first bite of any I mean anything, the massive level of turmeric they add ohh my god straight to the dustbin.
People who have come from job & tired please do not order from this place ull sleep Hungary...

I've had the privilege of enjoying Indian cuisine across many countries, & this restaurant easily ranks among the very best. My colleagues & I had an outstanding experience from start to finish. A special thank you to the owner/chef for taking the time to speak with us personally & for the excellent recommendations - they truly made the meal memorable. 🙏
Only great things to say! Thank you to chef Simar & our waiter Arindom. An amazing experience as usual from the food to the service. They provide an unique experience & personalized menu which shows how much they care for their clientele. My favourite indian restaurant in Montreal, by far.
Absolutely amazing experience for anyone that wants authentic north indian cuisine. The staff is very willing to please & is more then happy to help with anything that might make your culinary experience more enjoyable. If you have the craving or the desire to try out some wholesome indian cuisine, do yourself a favor & try Darbar.
Belle surprise! Nourriture très goûteuse & généreuse. De la vrai cuisine indienne comme on l'aime. L'entrée Murthy Malai était vraiment délicieuse & le poulet au beurre à se lécher les doigts.
