The interior design mirrors the cultural vibrancy of the region through intricate textures and warm, ambient lighting. This establishment represents a significant destination for those seeking a comprehensive exploration of Mediterranean-inspired dishes prepared with technical precision. Each plate emphasizes the rich, diverse culinary landscape of Syria while maintaining a focus on structural balance and traditional ingredient sourcing.
Damas is widely celebrated as a premier culinary destination in Montreal, offering an exceptional Syrian dining experience defined by vibrant, authentic flavors and meticulous presentation. Guests frequently praise the stunning, elegantly designed atmosphere, which serves as a warm and inviting backdrop for shareable dishes like the signature hummus, tender lamb racks, and flavorful mezze. The service is consistently highlighted as a major strength, with professional and knowledgeable staff members often going above and beyond to ensure a memorable visit through thoughtful menu guidance and attentive care. While some diners express differing opinions regarding the pricing and portion sizes, many view the premium cost as justified by the high quality of ingredients, the complexity of the culinary craftsmanship, and the overall immersive experience that keeps patrons returning for special occasions.
One of if not the best middle eastern restaurant on the continent. Fuad, Mark, Alex & his team took excellent care of us. & made sure all of our needs were met.
One of the most overrated & overexpensive restaurants I have been to. The food is hit & miss some plates are good but mostly are under average. Definitely not recommended. If you want a good experience for the price there are many other choices.
We had the tasting menu & really enjoyed it. There was a generous amount of food, unique flavors, & everything tasted great. The only downside was that some parts of the culinary experience weren't explained very clearly & felt a bit rushed, especially when multiple dishes arrived at once. Overall, it was a great experience, & I'd definitely return for the food & atmosphere.
I went there with my husband. We tried the shared menu. My biggest disappointment overall was the cost versus what you got. In reality it costs $200 a person for a type of small raw beef appetizer, one shrimp, one piece of beef, I kafta meat ball & a small dessert. You also got a salad with some dips which was tbh my favourite part but the cost did not suit what you got to be honest. The shrimp dish was very fishy, kafta glaze was very good, kafta was ok, beef also was not my favourite dish but really good presentation.
If you go here I would at least not recommend that shared menu. Beautiful place though, great decor, the salad, baba ghanouj was on point, love the homemade pita. Great staff
We visited Damas for a 40th birthday & it was a fantastic experience.
3 of us had the tasting menu which we all really enjoyed. The thought & detail put into each dish is really paramount & as someone who appreciates food really elevated the experience.
1 of us was pregnant & the team at Damas could not have been more accommodating without making her feel like a burden. Great care was taken in each of her dishes (non tasting menu) to ensure she was safe.
The staff were friendly & attentive without being overbearing. The team also provided a birthday card which was a really lovely touch & meant a lot.
Highly recommend this restaurant & the tasting menu.
In town with our in-laws & Damas was nothing short of perfection. The menu is designed for sharing, allowing everyone at the table to experience an incredible variety of flavors, & every dish exceeded expectations.
From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. Our host, who appeared to be the manager, was warm, welcoming, professional, & genuinely helpful. As restaurant owners ourselves, one of the things that stood out most was the culture of the team. Every single person in the restaurant seemed engaged, focused, & busy. No one was standing around-everyone was contributing to the guest experience & working together seamlessly.
Nick, our server, was excellent, knowledgeable, & helped guide us through the menu. But the true standout of the evening was Mac. His attention to detail was on another level. He kept our table impeccably maintained throughout the entire meal, anticipating needs before they arose, clearing & resetting with perfect timing, & ensuring everything remained spotless & organized. The dining room was busy, yet he never missed a beat. As fellow operators, we know how rare it is to find someone who takes that much pride in their craft. Mac was a major part of what made the evening so memorable.
Exceptional food, exceptional hospitality, & an exceptional team. Damas is a special place & a masterclass in how great restaurants should operate.
Takes dishes I used to eat as a palestinian kid at home to new heights. I know its authentic syrian but all levant cuisine is similar so it brough back many memories. The falafel & hummus was so smooth & packed with flavour. The fatoush was one of the best I ever had, it shined more than expected. The Mulokhia with cofit duck was great but the slightly burnt garlic taste, although some like it, was not my favourite but im only nit picking at this point as it was also really good & the duck was cooked to perfection. The cocktails were unique & so good that I would chugg it unconciously if I wasnt paying attention. The kunafah for dessert was also very nice. I want to come to try new dishes.
