Review Summary

Reviews portray Damas as a standout Montreal dining experience, renowned for its rich Syrian flavors, fresh in-house pita, and bold mezze that include dishes like lamb, octopus, fattoush and kebabs, with the tasting menu and wine pairings often highlighted as a must try. The atmosphere comes across as warm, elegant and intimate, and the service is generally attentive and knowledgeable, with a strong drinks program to match the food. Some guests question the value for money, noting high prices and varying portion sizes, and a few report slower service or occasional misses during busy times. Brunch is also praised for its flavorful, well composed offerings and cross cultural flair, making Damas feel like a Montreal institution that many would return to for special occasions or to explore more of the menu.

Really enjoyed Damas. Good was good. I found the tasting menu pricey for what we got. With wine & 15% tip it was 300$ per person. Next time I would opt for à la carte options.

Amazing!! Came here for dinner with my husband while visiting Montreal & everything about our experience was wonderful! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful & the service was fantastic. We ordered the tasting menu & every dish was delicious. You can tell how much thought & care is put into creating each dish. I am not the most familiar with Syrian food but our servers kindly explained each dish to us which made it very accessible & informative. Each server we interacted with was incredibly kind & attentive. & I can't emphasize enough how good the meal was. I would very highly recommend visiting Damas!

Phenomenal Food & Extraordinary Service!! My partner & I had never tasted Syrian cuisine before so we both decided to try the tasting menu & we were blown away by the whole experience. Such unique flavours! We will be back!

Absolutely outstanding. Nico was our server & he was great. We got the chef's tasting menu with the cocktail pairing. My wife says it was the best meal she's ever had. I've been wanting to come here for years & this definitely met all our expectations.

Very different middle eastern food, good ambience, wonderful service & great dessert.
We had the tasting menu, most of the things where kind of different, with a variety of taste.
I don't eat seafood, they were happy to accomodate my requests.
The kibbeh & the main course lamb were outstanding dishes, others were also good, but these 2 standout.
The dessert was also very different, never had something like that ! Must go place in Montreal

We had the tasting menu with the Mediterranean wine pairing & everything was perfect! The service was above & beyond anything experienced in Montreal. Every single dish was incredible & the wine paired perfectly with each dish. The atmosphere was also very pleasant!

Damas is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Montreal. From the moment you walk into the gorgeous dining room on Van Horne, the experience is just unmatched. The service is always incredibly warm & attentive, & the atmosphere feels so special without being stuffy.

But the food is the real reason I keep coming back. The Syrian flavors are so rich, vibrant, & perfectly balanced. Everything is incredibly fresh from the cold mezzes right down to the charcoal-grilled meats. Whether you go all out on the tasting menu or just share a bunch of plates, you honestly can't go wrong. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but it is absolutely worth every single penny for the quality & the overall experience. A true 10/10.

Best restaurant in Montreal in my opinion. The staff is very welcoming & knowledgeable, each dish has a distinct flavour. I recommend the tasting menu to try a bit of everything.

The food itself is exceptional. Flavours are unique & on point, & everything is cooked very well (for the price point, would hope so!). Would recommend the tasting menu. The interior decor is also well appointed. Was slightly disappointed in the service as they forgot orders / items multiple times.

Great experience, tasting menu was 160 per person (a tad overpriced) but the quality is there & the service was great.

Super food & super staff who chose our meal for us with an impromptu'tasting menu' & wine pairing at lunch. Thank you Tessie.

I've gone here for valentines, birthdays, date nights & more - it is by far my favourite restaurant in the city!

Cannot recommend the tasting with wine pairing enough, & if you don't want a full course, we've always had amazing custom menus made by waitress Karin that pair beautifully together for an amazing meal.

Damas through & through never disappoints!

Overall it was a negative experience but I will break it down:

The service was fantastic. All the staff from the lady who checked us in to our server were very accommodating & friendly. They explained the food options & took care of us. However, everything else about our experience was bad.

The food was average. Nothing special. The server highly recommended the tasting menu so that is what we ordered. Unfortunately that was the wrong decision. All the serving sizes were small. The taste was ok. It was overhyped by the server so we thought it was going to be good but we did not like it. You get the same food at a regular supermarket.

The restaurant was noisy & very dimly lit. Everyone around us was using their phone flashlight to look at the menu. We had the same urge but we knew it was too distracting so we resisted it.

The worst part & the thing that ruined our night was the bill. It was unbelievably expensive. Way to high & not worth the experience we received. It was insanely overpriced & we just felt tricked.

$200+ per person is insane. Google Reviews does not even have that option in its system haha. The maximum you can tap is'$100+' & we had to pay more than twice that amount for a bad experience.

Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience at Damas. We booked the Christmas Eve tasting menu experience in August for December, & had high expectations based on the restaurant's strong reviews.

We had a 6:00 pm reservation, & our first drink was served 50 minutes after we arrived. The first course was served 1 hour & 20 minutes after arrival. Two other couples arrived around the same time & were served faster; they had food on their tables within the first 20 minutes.

The next two courses were served, & then a we mentioned that service was slow & that one course had been skipped. A new waitress took over, was very accommodating & understanding of the situation, & informed our assigned waitress about the missing course.

After we raised concerns about the delays, a few courses were delivered at the same time.

At around 8:30 pm, we still had two courses left: the duck & dessert. I asked whether they could be served at the same time, as I had another commitment at 9:00 pm. Unfortunately, this was not possible, so I asked for the bill.

Two waitresses came to confirm that we were okay leaving without the two remaining courses. After we confirmed, the manager came to double-check. We explained the issues we experienced, & the manager adjusted the bill to ensure we were paying a fair amount given the poor service & incomplete meal.

When our waitress, Joseph, brought the bill, he confirmed that the restaurant was short-staffed on Christmas Eve.

The food was tasty, but the service delays caused significant distress & impacted our ability to enjoy both the meal & the experience. Given the level of the restaurant & its price point, I am not sure I would return to Damas.

I was shocked & surprised in the best way.

We sat at the bar as we booked last minute & even loved that vibe.

Every course was even more amazing than the last. Colorful, unique, flavored.

An incredible atmosphere as well. I will definitely be back. Try the tasting menu you will not be disappointed.

Service. Amazing. Fun & upbeat. Thank you!

My wife & I went here on our honeymoon & the tasting menu was one of the highlights of our entire trip. There was a lamb dish so good that it literally made me laugh with delight. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was so lovely, the food was UNREAL. They've also got a lovely drink menu, & their mocktail options are just as tasty as their cocktails. If you're in Montreal this is a spot you should not miss.

Exceptional, but too much quantity.

We went with the tasting menu, which was delicious from start to finish, however it was too much. We ended up feeling'full' to the point of not enjoying the last meals/desserts.

Your mileage may varry, but I'd say we're'good eaters' & are generally used to north american meal sizes. But here sadly, it was too much. & we were left wondering if it was worth paying that much (660$ taxes & tips included for 2) for a exceptional menu, that we ended up not appreciating around its end.

So, I would recommend going with'a la carte' items or a more classic menu, rather than the tasting menu.

Otherwise, everything was great.

You'll read a lot of mixed opinions about this restaurant, but honestly-aside from the price-don't pay attention to the noise. This is a high-end restaurant, & the quality & execution of the food are truly unique. I've tried many Lebanese & Syrian restaurants, & to this day, nothing beats Damas. The food is outstanding; it's one of the best restaurants in Montreal. The fact that reservations are so hard to get isn't hype-people genuinely love the food here.

If you're wondering what to wear, opt for something nice & elegant. I've been there on Mondays & even then you'll see corporate guests in suits & ties.

For first-timers, I highly recommend the tasting menu. You get a little bit of everything, & it's very filling. I've tried almost the entire menu, & honestly, every single dish is excellent.

Street parking is available, but there's no valet.

Our table was late. We were a large group so we had to take the tasting menu . We were not even shown menu we couldn't order a few things à la carte. The tasting menu is okay , it missed the dips. I recall it being more generous & flavourful in my previous visits .
