Review Summary

Croissant Monkland is widely praised as a standout bakery in NDG, with a strong focus on freshly baked croissants and a wide range of pastries and breads that keep locals returning, from plain and almond croissants to chocolate, raspberry, pistachio and Nutella varieties. Reviewers often call the almond croissant among the best they have tasted and note that everything is baked fresh and served quickly even when the shop is busy. The atmosphere is described as warm and welcoming with friendly staff, though the space can feel tight during peak times and seating is limited. Some mentions of coffee that could be improved and a few concerns about hygiene or service on rare occasions, but overall values remain high with prices described as reasonable for quality. The place is seen as a neighborhood treasure and a must visit for pastry lovers, and many reviewers compare it favorably to other bakeries in Montreal, highlighting the variety, freshness and the bakery's long-standing local appeal.

Best in town for me. Best almond croissants, period. I introduced this place to my US friends, Ontarians, & everyone loved it.

Pretty good fare, apple tart had fibrous intruders, croque-monsieur was tasty. Google sent me there for a UPS sendout, mistake! They have NO UPS counter.

My sister, familiar with the area, suggested we try this place. Her recommendation was well-founded. The pastries we selected were of excellent quality & freshness. The staff was welcoming, & the pricing was reasonable. Parking was conveniently available. I strongly recommend a visit.

First of all the food is fantastic, they have amazing pastries & baked goods. The reason i'm rating them so low however is because of some hygiene issues i observed , i've been here twice now in a row where they allowed customers to fully put their hands over the glass casing practically touching the food. the man i just observed doing this leaned his head fully over & was talking over & waving his hands inches from the food, he then sneezed directly into his palm while he was at the cash. I feel very uncomfortable & wish the staff had told him to stop, i understand it's an uncomfortable position to be in but honestly don't know if i'll be going back after seeing that.

The best French bakery-pastry place in North America, maybe even the best I have been in the world. Never left so so so so so satisfied from any other French style bakery. Love it! Must try!

✨ Hidden Gem Worth Every Bite! 🥐💸

I stumbled on this place by pure chance while staying at an Airbnb just a 15-minute walk away. One evening, I was browsing Google Maps to see what was around-& this spot instantly caught my eye. Intrigued, I had to check it out… & I'm so glad I did!

I was in Montreal for 5 days, & once I discovered this place & tried their goodies, I couldn't stay away. I came back every single day-no shame! 😋

My girlfriend & I probably spent around $350 during our stay (& yes, they absolutely deserved every cent). The pastries are next-level delicious. I seriously wish I had two stomachs. 😂

⭐ Top recommendation: the almond croissant-pure heaven! 🥐✨ To this day, I still haven't found a better one anywhere.

Do yourself a favor: GO HERE. SPEND YOUR MONEY. WORTH. EVERY. PENNY. 🙌💯

Croissant Monkland sells some of the best bread in the neighborhood, which is why I try to go there. Alas, they have two widely-spaced steps in front of the store. This is a barrier for me -- I need a walker to get around. There is a railing, which helps. I try to go with a friend, who can hold the spring-loaded door open while I struggle with the walker.
They offer pastries, both savory & sweet, & very pleasant light lunches.

delicious, fresh baked good & awesome coffee, i wish there was more sizes available for the beverages but the affordable yet delicious pastries & sandwiches makes it worth it, it is always PACKED which says alot about their efficiency & quality (10/10) but i would not recommend dining in because it is a pretty small café.. fortunately right in front of many, nice parcs!

Top tier croissants, one of the best in town. Absolutely recommend the almond croissants. The raspberry croissants are also quite good.
