About

Croissant Monkland serves as a dedicated destination for artisanal French-inspired pastries and high-quality café offerings. The menu features a robust selection of laminated dough creations, including buttery golden croissants and flaky pain au chocolat that demonstrate precise technique and consistent texture. Patrons select from a range of classic bistro fare designed for efficient service within a modern, functional environment. Each item emphasizes foundational ingredients such as high-fat butter and premium flour to ensure structural integrity and flavor depth. The workspace functions as an integrated café setting where focused pastry production remains the primary objective for daily output. Regular offerings include savory options alongside sweet confections, catering to those seeking traditional baked goods in a streamlined, urban-focused culinary space that prioritizes ingredient quality and standard production methods.

Review Summary

Croissant Monkland is widely celebrated as a premier destination in the neighborhood for authentic, high-quality pastries and fresh bread. Patrons frequently praise the exceptional variety and buttery quality of the croissants, which many consider to be among the best in Montreal. While the establishment is consistently busy and well-loved for its friendly staff and delicious baked goods, some customers note that the popularity leads to long lineups and crowded conditions, making it less ideal for dining in. Although opinions on the coffee are mixed, the overwhelming consensus is that the bakery offers an unpretentious and satisfying experience that captures the essence of a traditional French bakery, earning it a loyal following despite occasional concerns regarding service flow or peak-hour congestion.

We've only picked up from here, not dined in, but their croissants & breads are good!

Been coming here for years. Whether its a quick bite at lunch, a beautiful cake for dessert, or picking up some bread, everything I've had there is good. The service can be a little confusing everyone kind clusters & you forget whose next. Other than that would not change a thing

The croissants & baked goods are of high quality. It seems like a popular spot for coffee. I'm not into those things but I sometimes for bread which is very good. The wait times are long on the weekend. I find it frustrating to wait in a line up right to the door where people are picking out ingredients for their coffees & asking about muffins just stopping in for a simple item. I kind of wonder if they could have a short order line?
The verdict is probably good for coffee & desserts, but not for picking up household basics.

They have amazing, fresh options of croissants & several other goodies & fresh bread! One downside: Mr/Ms Owner: PLEASE add the option of leaving a tip on your interact machines as your staff definitely deserves that- they are all lovely & have always been!

Croissant Monkland sells some of the best bread in the neighborhood, which is why I try to go there. Alas, they have two widely-spaced steps in front of the store. This is a barrier for me -- I need a walker to get around. There is a railing, which helps. I try to go with a friend, who can hold the spring-loaded door open while I struggle with the walker.
They offer pastries, both savory & sweet, & very pleasant light lunches.

Whenever I'm in the area, I grab a pastry here. I got an almond & a chocolate & almond pastry today. Delicious! I took some olive bread for tomorrow. I haven't tried it yet but it looks & smells good. :)

The almond croissant had no volume, was soggy, & the texture was terrible. It tasted awful. The staff put the croissant & blueberry tart in the same paper bag, so the croissant absorbed the blueberry flavor. I bought more than 10 types of bread, but they didn't put them in a shopping bag. Instead, they left 4 small paper bags & a cake box on the counter after I paid & just stared at me. There are far better bakeries in Montreal than this one. Don't go here. I do not recommend it.

I absolutely love this little bakery! The croissants are delicious (the raspberry one is out of this world), as are their chocolatines & fresh bread.
