Overall, reviews highlight Côba Sushi for fresh, high quality fish and ingredients, with standout signature rolls and creative dishes that impress and a presentation that earns praise. The service is consistently attentive and friendly, and the ambiance is cozy, moody and inviting, making it a strong choice for a date night or a relaxed visit. Many guests feel the value is justified by the quality, while a few note small portions or occasional slower service, and some mention that the pace can affect the experience. The restaurant is frequently described as among the top sushi spots in Montreal, with strong praise for consistency, variety, and memorable items that keep diners returning.
Everyone working there was politely when we arrived (we were the amongst the first customers of a slow evening). Nevertheless it took quite a while to get our beverages (party of 2), which we had to remind the staff to please bring.
The appetizers came at a decent pace & were very good. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of the mains, as after a long wait the Coba team brought my aunt's dish, only for me to wait almost another half hour before receiving my food. She waited for ten minutes to start eating, so we could enjoy the experience together, unfortunately despite the pause she was long done by the time I got the food I had ordered. This was not a busy day in the restaurant, I counted only 6 parties in total. The food itself is actually very good, but you will not have a pleasant dining experience as Coba is very poorly managed.
The staff were polite enough about the fact they were committing mistakes, but seemed to do nothing to remedy it, neither when during the experience or not as a token in the final bill.
Meanwhile the general manager was standing by a table chatting for most of the evening to customers who looked that they would have rather been left alone, & the 4 people in the kitchen seemed hard at work to fulfill Uber Eats orders while completely under prioritizing dine in customers.
Overall, just order takeaway if you want Coba's food, as it is clearly what they focus on. Especially at $100+ a person, you definitely don't get the experience that goes with along with it.
The sushi was incredibly fresh & delicious, every bite felt high quality. The atmosphere is super cozy yet luxurious, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal. Highly recommend!

Ambiance relaxe, service incroyable.
Excellent sushi & outstanding service. Ken helped us pick our dishes & made fantastic choices-the specialty sushis were our favorite & made the whole experience unforgettable. Will be going again!
As a New Yorker, I still remember walking into Coba Sushi for the first time over a decade ago & realizing immediately that I had been humbled. Call it love at first sight, or first bite. Montreal sushi simply plays at a higher level.
Whether it's a date night or just a solo trip the ambience is moody & inviting.
The service is consistently polished but warm, anchored by an owner who makes you feel genuinely welcome every single time. The standard rolls are unfailingly precise & balanced, the kind of consistency that keeps locals loyal. & the truffle tuna roll remains my personal north star. Rich & indulgent it's pure perfection.
At this point, a trip to Montreal without Coba Sushi feels unfinished. NYC may have the attitude, but Montreal has the edge when it comes to sushi.
