Still my favorite Thai place in Montreal, vegan or otherwise. Flavors are on point - the dumpling sauce is some of the best I've had - & the restaurant itself is nice & modern. Good, efficient, friendly service. However, the prices have shot way up & the serving side has gone down (the price for a tiny bowl of fried spinach is unreal). Stick to mains instead of entrees.
We got the Thai Princess drink, dumplings in peanut sauce (Kiao satay), the vegan chicken skewers (Gai Satay), the vegan beef in 3 flavor sauce (Neua Sam Rod), the eggplant & vegan shrimp (koung pad makere). I would recommend the Gai Satay & the Neua Sam Rod, it was really flavorful & the vegan beef had a nice crispy texture. I'm personally not a fan of the shrimp texture, which was probably made with konjac jelly. I've been here before & tried the crispy vegan duck & would highly recommend it as well. The ambience is really cozy & chic. The staff is really friendly & explained all the dishes we were curious about. I would visit again!
As a lacto ovo vegetarian, vegan restaurants are a special haven for me, given that I can order anything & everything, no holds barred. I had the spring rolls & pad Thai & I have to say this was just some of the best Thai food & vegan food that I've had. It was a good omen from the get-go. My mom & I didn't have reservations (albeit we did walk in after 8pm on Saturday eve) & we were seated right away. Staff were extremely friendly & attentive without being over-bearing. The spring rolls weren't fried & were wrapped in rice paper (this was a plus for me as I'm always trying for healthier options). Although the rolls were cold, they came with a warm peanut sauce. We ended the night with the vegan cheesecake & I can honestly say we were left feeling light, well-fed, & full of endorphins! Highly recommend!
Delicious food & great service! To start, we had the het waan krob (breaded crispy mushrooms, which were sooooo good), & the kari puff (which, admittedly, I would have liked with a sauce). For our main course, we had the royal pad thai & the kang daeng ped, which were both so rich & succulent! They nailed the vegan shrimp taste & texture. I couldn't really tell the difference between the tofu & vegan chicken, but it was still tasty. The staff were really friendly & quick, & the whole place was clean & classy.
10/10 across the board! We got the Kiao Satay (dumplings in peanut sauce), Waan Krob (crispy seaweed), Poe Pia Tod (Fried Imperial Rolls), Ped Palo (Crispy duck), & Neua Sam Rod (crispy beef). The peanut sauce was so delicious we could've drank it. The crispy seaweed was perfection. The crispy duck is something I thought I would never find but they have absolutely gotten it right, I'd say better than the real thing. & the beef was the favorite of the table, even better as leftovers the next day. The service was wonderful, & bonus points for mocktail options on their drinks. We're only visiting for a week but will surely be back at ChuChai!
Excellent all-vegan restaurant Recommend several entrees to share across party Our favorites: Royal Pad Thai (lots to try) Dumplings (vg chicken in peanut sauce) Vg chicken skewers (thicker more dusky peanut sauce) Neua Sam Rod (vg beef in 3 flavor sauce - nice & crispy outside!)
Just Wow. I had the beef curry with rice amd let me tell you that this was the best curry I ate. It was delicious well balanced & full of flavour. For the dessert my man had the cashew cream cake with black cherry sauce, it was creamy but light, not too sweet & really I am ditching the cheesecake this is my new favorite cake. Thank you for a wonderful experience, I will definitely come again soon.
