The squire and his cur’.

My mother & I ate here last night & not only was this the highlight of our trip to Montreal, it became one of my favorite restaurants in just the two short hours we spent dining here. The owner, Benoit, has run the place for almost 15 years, & he & his children (both waiters/bartenders) were overwhelmingly hospitable. They shared family stories & the history of the restaurant throughout the meal, making our experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend sitting at the bar not only for a better view of the whole restaurant but also for the chance to talk & learn from Benoit (who will not pull his punches if you are American or don't finish your food 😂). The fish is also spectacular, & the combination of incredible food & atmosphere made this one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in years.Voir plus

My server William was very helpful in navigating the menu & was incredibly personable & charismatic. It was also a real pleasure meeting the owner of the restaurant. The food was delicious & the staff really made me feel at home. Loved the seafood pasta. Best gin Martini in Montreal. Will be sending people in the future.Voir plus
It's rare to find a restaurant that truly delivers on every front-ambience, service, & most importantly, food-but this place absolutely nailed it. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt inviting, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience.
We started with a selection of appetizers that impressed across the board. The grilled octopus had a wonderful smoky flavor, perfectly complemented by well-seasoned greens. The calamari was delightfully crispy & light, not greasy. We had the following soups: the tomato soup was rich & creamy with a beautifully balanced flavor, the lobster bisque was loaded with tender lobster chunks, & the clam chowder was indulgently creamy & brimming with fresh clam meat.
For our main courses, we tried the walleye, scallops, the Creole crab & lobster ravioli. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared & bursting with flavor. The ravioli was stuffed generously with real lobster meat & none of the usual tasteless filler (cheese). Every plate was a hit with our group.
Service was top-notch, & a big part of that was thanks to our server, William. He was friendly, attentive, & genuinely made our night better. If you're heading here, definitely ask for William's table-he's exactly the kind of server you hope for when dining out.
This restaurant has earned a spot at the top of my list, & I'll definitely be back when I'm in Montreal again.Voir plus
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. From the delicious cuisine, the incredible service & the cozy atmosphere, I would go back to Montreal from Pittsburgh solely to return to this incredible family run restaurant. Merci!!!Voir plus

We had lunch here recently & can highly recommend this restaurant. Both food & service were great. Staff were super friendly.Voir plus
Great seafood restaurant! Pricey but top quality, fresh ingredients & generous portions. The greeting is fast & professional, the service is efficient & friendly. Overall a special place, a family owned restaurant, the interactions between the owners & their children are hilarious & makes the atmosphere very special. Arguably the best seafood restaurant in Montreal, certainly the oldest, just a 3 minute walk from the Notre Dame basilica in the Old Port. As you come in you are greeted by one of the owners through the bar section, where you can see the original stools & lamps from the 1930s. You get the feel of a classic neighborhood joint, full of regulars, very busy. The cocktails are generous (6 oz martinis). They have an outstanding seafood tower, very festive . The seafood pasta is outstanding. The Dover sole Meuniere is the house specialty, & it's the best i've had anywhere. Also we tried lobster ravioli, which was a highlight. The staff is super friendly & professional, & the owners are charming. Strongly recommend, overall a great value. Valet parking.Voir plus

Good service by an eager young staff. Walleye fish was great, but the Dover sole meunière was disappointing & the comment caught the owner by surprise…he wants us to come back for another try!Voir plus
