Review Summary

Charyū par Thés Guru emerges in reviews as a charming, tranquil tea house with a zen, airy decor and plenty of seating that invites lingering or working nearby. The tea selection is a highlight, with a strong focus on matcha and a range of drinks such as hojicha latte and matcha yuzu, complemented by a variety of desserts including mochi, mouchis, and matcha soft serve or ice cream. Guests praise the friendly, attentive staff and small but meaningful gestures like helping with a laptop charger or speaking a bit of Japanese. Several posts note hands on experiences such as wagashi making and matcha ceremonies, often recommending reservations, and describe the events as memorable and worthwhile. The ambiance and thoughtful service are repeatedly cited, as is the ability to reserve space for events and the shop’s appealing selection of teaware and accessories. While a few drinks are described as good rather than outstanding, the overall sentiment is that the venue offers a unique, welcoming tea focused experience worth a visit.

Naturally, we started with their rich, velvety matcha. Smooth, vibrant, & perfectly balanced, it's a lovely showcase of the quality they're working with. We also tried the hojicha, which was equally impressive, bringing its warm roasted flavor & cozy, nutty notes to the party.

They have an impressive lineup of matcha & hojicha-flavored treats that make resisting absolutely futile. (We tried. Briefly.)

Beyond the drinks & sweets, the space itself is a gem. They offer beautiful tea accessories for sale, adorable tables you can reserve for 4-6 people for a proper tea time, & even host workshops on weekends for anyone looking to deepen their tea appreciation.

The atmosphere is calm, relaxed, & inviting-the perfect place to sip, chat, & perhaps spill a little tea (both figuratively & literally) with friends. From the extensive tea menu to the delicious lattes & desserts, everything felt genuinely delightful.

Safe to say, we'll be back soon-partly for research purposes, & partly because we're already thinking about that matcha again.

Long time customer of Thé Guru on Beaubien here, I went to try their 5 à 7 tea tasting this week. They gave us a broad range of tea flavors from the same tea family, with quite different flavors to compare. The girl in charge of the tasting was very knowledgeable, relaxed, & friendly, & Maître Han Le was also there to give up more detailed information about the teas. The ambiance is very relaxed & easy going, a lovely way to spend a friday evening.
