Review Summary

Casa Azul offers a visually stunning and warm atmosphere that transports guests to Mexico with its beautiful decor and vibrant cultural touches. While many visitors praise the authentic, flavorful dishes, the impressive cocktail selection, and the exceptionally friendly and attentive service provided by the staff, experiences can be inconsistent. Some patrons have encountered issues with slow service, cold food, or smaller portion sizes, leading to a divide in customer satisfaction. Overall, those who enjoy the experience often highlight the passion behind the cooking and the welcoming environment, making it a destination that many look forward to visiting again for a genuine taste of Mexican hospitality.

First & foremost, the food wasn't even hot. For context, we had the all?you?can?eat brunch option. The food took a minimum of 20 minutes to arrive, & the drinks came about 15 minutes after the food. The waitress never stated her name, & her attitude was unpleasant throughout our visit. She kept serving other tables, including empty ones, while ignoring ours.
Second, the water had a yellow tint & tasted like soap. We never saw them replace the water jar on any table during our entire stay.
Third, the tres leches didn't taste right.
Fourth, when my friend complained about her drink & asked for a new one, the waitress went to speak with the bartender. I genuinely believe she told him not to serve the replacement drink.
Before I forget, there were food items we requested twice, but we never received them.
Lastly, the waitress who took our order at the beginning didn't want to give us the bill. I gave her several glances & hand signals to let her know we were ready to leave, but she never came. In the end, the bartender was the one who brought us our bill.
The only redeeming aspects of the restaurant were the decoration & the bathroom. We actually had a pleasant time doing a little photoshoot because the place is visually appealing.
So, do I recommend eating at Casa Azul? The honest answer is no. Sure, we didn't know much about Mexican food, but that doesn't justify the horrible attitude we experienced during our visit.

The place is very nice & aesthetic, the food is super basic (para gringo) el servicio mal organizado & it is ridiculously expensive for the quality of the food, as a Mexican I do not recommend. I paid 35$ plus tip so more than 49$ for 1 person. Just go to St Hubert in Jean Talon & you will find way bette

Starting with the positive aspects, this place has a very nice decor. The cocktails & agua frescas were tasty. Unfortunately, the food was terribly underwhelming. The'fried seafood' appetizer seemed straight out of a frozen box & a third of it was just fried onion rings. The dishes did not taste flavourful or authentic. I had the shrimp fajitas as a main & it came with whole unseasoned beans that looked straight from a can. (Was expecting frijoles) It was served with only one giant flour tortilla instead of smaller tortillas, which seemed odd for this type of dish.
The service was extremely slow even though the restaurant was mostly empty. All of the drinks took an unusually long time to come. (We received the first one after probably 30 minutes & the rest of the order at later intervals) We sympathized because most of the waitresses were on their 1st/2nd day. The restaurant did not even have 5$/10$ bills to provide change on our friend's cash payment. Overall, it was a disorganized & disappointing experience that came to a steep price. Not worth it at all.

Great food, friendly staff, & the owner was super helpful when dealing with my wife's food allergies. I highly recommend Casa Azul.
