Don't be fooled by the Instagram videos. My friends & I left because there was no actual written brunch menu & just a general feeling of uneasiness.
First & foremost, the food wasn't even hot. For context, we had the all?you?can?eat brunch option. The food took a minimum of 20 minutes to arrive, & the drinks came about 15 minutes after the food. The waitress never stated her name, & her attitude was unpleasant throughout our visit. She kept serving other tables, including empty ones, while ignoring ours.
Second, the water had a yellow tint & tasted like soap. We never saw them replace the water jar on any table during our entire stay.
Third, the tres leches didn't taste right.
Fourth, when my friend complained about her drink & asked for a new one, the waitress went to speak with the bartender. I genuinely believe she told him not to serve the replacement drink.
Before I forget, there were food items we requested twice, but we never received them.
Lastly, the waitress who took our order at the beginning didn't want to give us the bill. I gave her several glances & hand signals to let her know we were ready to leave, but she never came. In the end, the bartender was the one who brought us our bill.
The only redeeming aspects of the restaurant were the decoration & the bathroom. We actually had a pleasant time doing a little photoshoot because the place is visually appealing.
So, do I recommend eating at Casa Azul? The honest answer is no. Sure, we didn't know much about Mexican food, but that doesn't justify the horrible attitude we experienced during our visit.
I came here for brunch with my friends & we had a really great experience overall. The food was absolutely delicious-everything we tried was flavorful, fresh, & very well prepared. You can really tell they put effort into the quality & presentation.
The place is beautiful & has a nice atmosphere, although it is quite small, so it can feel a bit crowded, especially during busy brunch hours.
The buffet is on the pricier side at $35 per person (plus taxes), & drinks are not included, which adds up. That said, I do think it's worth it for the quality of the food.
One thing that could definitely be improved is the service speed. The staff are very kind & friendly, but the system is a bit slow since you can't serve yourself-someone serves you, which creates long lines & waiting times.
Overall, despite a few downsides, I would still recommend this place for a tasty & enjoyable brunch experience!
Extremely disappointing experience. Reserved a large group for a birthday brunch. Arrived at noon to find a locked door, were finally let in after a few minutes of knocking. Staff seemed disinterested in providing us any information nor did they seem prepared for us or any other guests. Server was completely uninformed about the menu & drink options & appeared to be inexperienced & overwhelmed by a single table.
The only option was a buffet. After being seated at 12 the buffet was not ready until almost 1pm. Once it opened they only had a single staff member serving & the line was 15-20 people long at all times with a 20+ minute wait to finally be served. What was meant to be a fun birthday brunch turned in to a long wait, overpriced food, & god awful service.
Bills came & it was time for more confusion as they needed to be reprinted several times to account for erroneous items.
Would not return, would not recommend & would not force this place on my worst enemy.
I don't know who give them 5 stars , we just came from this place , 4 peoples for brunch . Overpriced place . Says a buffet , but was nothing to eat , everything is cold , sweet chicken , no posole , service too long , I took frites but wasn't ketchup, Beautiful restaurant decor . . However, the service was slow & a little confused, but the servers ok.
I think those people never visit buffet choice because what they propose cost not more then 12$ . Very disappointed with menu ( absolutely different from picture ) & prices .Never come again & don't conseil to my friends . Wasting money ..
As a Mexican, discovering this place made me proud. From the decor to the service, everything reflects authentic Mexican culture. I went to brunch (must try ) with my partner & we were really happy to see our culture & gastronomy represented with such care & respect. Paisanos, let's support places like this!
As a Mexican I had great expectations about this brunch especially because I've been here for dinner 3 times.
Honestly this brunch does not worth 35CAD.
They basically offer you tacos dorados (fried tacos), enchiladas, pozole & eggs…
If this place is run by a Mexican they should know that they need desperately offer: fruit, juice, unlimited coffee, bread, & more options for food. There are plenty of options that could be offered apart from their very sad eggs.
I would recommend this place for dinner & nice drinks, but their brunch is basically made of tacos dorados & eggs. All other stuff are sides!
:( so sad our experience was this bad. I hope the owner can take a look at this & make sure local people get a real Mexican experience because our breakfasts/brunchs are much more than this.
J'adore!
