The homemade breakfast, soups, & cookies were delicious & thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family. Savannah was a delightful host, & a huge thank you goes to the three chefs in the kitchen for their hard work & excellent food. While the line can be long, the experience is well worth it-though a digital sign-in system would be a great addition for those cold mornings. Highly recommended!
Good coffee & food, I particularly enjoyed the grilled cheese (slightly spicy) & tomato soup. The deluxe breakfast sandwich was yummy but felt more like a lunch item. Service can be slow
The breakfast sandwich is so freaking good, the pancakes are so fluffy & buttery, even the maple syrup that they offer goes so well with it. Trust me people, it's worth the lineup 😂
This is the most overrated breakfast place in all of Montreal. People who think this place is good haven't properly experienced the Montreal food scene.
The good:
-Staff is friendly
The Bad:
-Very long wait outside
-Very overpriced (18$+tx for pancakes with no fruits or sides)
-Extremely loud, could barely talk with friends
-Seating is extremely uncomfortable, most are seats with no back support.
-The place is tiny & super crowded so you stand in line again inside to order & pay & everyone is in the way
-Burger was a 6/10 meanwhile staff told me it was the best thing on menu. Brioche bun was decent, meat was bad
A place really has to be disappointing for me to give a two stars, I know the restaurant industry is hard, but this place is not it.
When you come here, you expect a queue. & my God, was there a queue. We waited about one hour to get inside, which was frustrating as reservations would be an easy solve. Each time I've tried to come here, I've had the same problem. Great food & fairly quick though. I recommend the pancakes & the breakfast sandwich. Vibes are pretty standard inside but it was a Bit tight as they are obviously trying to fit lots of people in.
Unfortunately, there is no table service even after waiting an hour.
Whilst it was lovely & we enjoyed our time, I would not go back as it's not worth the queue!
LOVEEE THIS PLACE!!
Their breakfast sandwich has a special place in my heart & the grilled cheese with tomato soup. & the pancakes…!!!! I would always recommend my friends to come here.
I completely understand the hype of the place. Such a niche vibe. The crowd felt amazing, the place, though tight in space, felt a hearty. I would say that finding space was an issue but if just stick around for 10 - 15 minutes, you will find a nice table.
good coffee, good matcha & good food. Must try is the breakfast sandwhich & their burger. A must try of you are in Montreal for more than 5 days.
September Café - Montreal
Out of all the places we visited in Montreal, this one was my favourite. The pancakes really hit the spot-soft, warm, & perfect with butter & maple syrup, especially in the cold weather. The place was busy, but the food arrived fresh & well presented. Very cozy & pleasant spot for a good breakfast. One small suggestion: adding a side of fruit with the pancakes (banana or berries) would make them perfect.
I took the breakfast sandwich & my friend took the pancakes. The staff is kind, the food meets my standards & the place is clean. There are two clean bathrooms. September Café is known for being consistently full unless the weather is snowy. The culture of the environment is bold & other customers will ask for your seat if you're done with your food. You go in & order at the cashier & sit wherever you want. I recommend this place for pairs, not large groups
Probably the best pancakes I've ever had, the avocado toast was unreal as well, coming from someone who makes it regularly for breakfast theirs just hit differently.
Also tried the grilled cheese + tomato soup. It was good nothing to go wild about.
Also it's very busy & first come first serve we were able to get seats fairly quickly. Would definitely go back just for the pancakes alone 💯
Visiting from NYC & this spot did not disappoint. The pancakes were fluffy & delicious, the breakfast sandwich was perfectly toasted. Cozy vibe & great service, will definitely return next time we're in Montreal!
Went there mainly for the pancakes. It was my first time here & I had high expectations & feel they were not met. I did not enjoy the pancakes as I found them to be salty which was lightly off putting. I ordered a London fog & found it didn't taste much like one & was more on the cold side. The breakfast sandwich was delicious, well cooked egg on a brioche bun & the toppings. There's zero service in my opinion but once again maybe that's their identity. You stand in line to order, wait for your drink, bring it to your table, they do bring the food to you & that's as far as service goes. You have to get your own maple syrup if need be & even water. I would not like to sit on the high face to face tables as they're so tightly close to each other except if your entire crew takes the entire space. Glad I went, would I go again… debatable.
Great food, i bit on the pricier side for breakfast/lunch but service is amazing
Wait time in line is long, but definitely worth the hype. Heard about this cafe all the way from Toronto. Would definitely recommend. I got the grilled cheese & tomato soup. My husband got the breakfast sandwich. Both were fresh & delicious. Also bought a chocolate chip & matcha white chocolate cookies & they were mouthwatering-ly good.
Nice breakfast spot. Gets very busy, so come early or be prepared to stand in line.
I got the classic pancakes which were great. If you're coming with someone, easily share with someone & get two sides to share together. You can taste the buttermilk & flavours.
I also got an orange juice & the halloumi. They fried the cheese into thin pieces which is nice as a side dish. Would come back to try other dishes.
Lively. From the heart cooking. Best pancakes I have ever had. The owner was so welcoming & kind. I told her I was from Toronto & they were the best pancakes we have ever had. Everything else was also delicious. Lattes. Breakfast sandwich. Chicken sandwich. This is a MUST STOP in Montreal.
Kaylie gave great service! No one has ever made ordering breakfast so enjoyable!! The brunch god has been revealed to me & her name is Kaylie! We will be returning! 10/10 best breaky sandwhich in the game on god
The food was absolutely phenomenal from this restaurant. I can't wait to come back next year! I had a fantastic deluxe breakfast sandwich & a pancake. Those were probably the most delicious versions of those two foods I have ever had. Don't hesitate to come here but make sure you show up early enough if you don't want to be stuck waiting for too long!
Very nice place, good & welcoming atmosphere, absolutely place to visit at least few time to try all their breakfast menu, pancakes & avocado sandwich is one of the best
