That is what their bread is reminiscent of. We had the Duluth & the killer tomato & both were really great. The staff were super friendly & they mentioned that they have a relationship with a local bakery to make their bread & baked goods. They provide the recipes, the bakery makes it happen. I loved that. We also got a lentil & fennel soup, an incredible chocolate & rosemary cookie & a chocolate lava cake for the gluten free folk in our crew. We will be back.
Macaroni & fauxmage ultra sec, la soupe au pois goûtait uniquement le thym, la serveuse a renversé de notre boisson sur la table & a juste dit « désolé » sans revenir pour essuyer.
Best sandwiches I've had in Montreal!! Highly recommend their tomato soup as well. Will be my go to spot every time I'm in Saint Laurent!
I have been going to Santropol since they opened many years ago. Yesterday I was there for an early dinner & was looking forward to having my usual. A tuna sandwich with salad. I was horrified to find out that the sandwich options were chicken salad & ham. The country bread is always cut super thick & it is heavy with sharp crusty edges. When there is something soft like tuna inside it is easier to keep together. I ordered the chicken salad which was vile! Imagine canned chicken consistency - thick pieces & dry with barely any mayo. Not chicken salad. The bread was 1.5 inches thick & the heavy meat chunks fell out with the salad & tomato. This led to a disgusting experience of everything falling all over me as I was trying to eat it. The only other non meat choices on the menu are vegan. I also ordered the Carrot/Orange soup & it was thick pieces in watery broth which was not what I was expecting at all.
I am a foodie & eat in restaurants on a regular basis. What chef prepared this meal?
I am embarrassed to say that I wore the sandwich.
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. Its a vibe! I'm not vegan but the food was so good & comforting. I puedes a chai, which is housemade & so good. I also had the split pea soup which was good. The space is very cozy. I can highly recommend.
Beautiful serene patio, semi boho decor, chic & elegant interiors. Classy place but staffed by soulless youngsters who need intensive coaching or happiness or another job. The welcoming server was cold, unhappy to be there & uninterested. Forget to take my order & then forgot what my order was & no apology or no warmth.- what a joke. Gave my seat to another person when l went to order inside after waiting 10 mins aimlessly in the patio. My main server just took my order & gave the food & disappeared. Was glad to speak to the smart Supervisor who said she will coach her staff. The servers here are unhappy & cold. Sometimes you might have a medicore restaurant but a very good service team, that could elevate your experience overall. Here the ambiance & the service are not in sync. The food was good. The soup was delicious, the salad was not bad, tofu was well seasoned, lots of veggies & the tea Santropol was the highlight of my visit - 6/5. The chili was average. I would easily give it 4/5 for good service & 5/5 for exceptional service but will try it once more before writing off completely if time permits.
Very lovely café, I love coming here to catch up with friends. I always end up taking the Soup du Jour, & I have not been disappointed yet. The drinks prices are very standard for a café in Montréal.
What I prefer the most is the ambiance of the place. The staff is always friendly, the decor is very artsy & cozy, & the backyard adds another touch of nature that ties the whole together. I always come back around the sunset as the light is beautiful then.
Will always recommend!
Went there at noon for our first visit.
We went on the terrace even though it was a little cold
We had soup & bread which was delicious
Each had a large sandwich with a very small salad which was also delicious
For dessert I had a carrot cake which is so good that after our after lunch walk I went back in to buy a piece to bring home
Cookies are also excellent
Service was top notch
A bit pricy
Atmosphere is like a ln eclectic dream
Very relaxed
Would definitely recommend
Tks to Clara for her excellent service
I found my new favorite magical place in Montreal!
I saw their ad on Instagram & had to check it out.
It teleported me to a gem I love on Costa Rica, so for me, it was quote special.
There are several different areas to sit, each with its own style & ambiance. I sat in the garden in the back. The coy fish pond was a particularly magical addition to the place.
The food was great. I had Borscht soup. Brought me back to my childhood when my dad used to make this soup often.
Reasonably priced, too.
Will 100% come back ! Thank you for making the IG ad !
(Video has bad sound quality.. don't mind the sound)
Accueil chaleureux, service attentionné, menu de salades, soupes, sandwiches. Délicieux chaï glacé. Impossible de résister au pain maison & aux biscuits. Magnifique terrasse.
Food wasn't more than tolerable, except for the soup which was great. Service was untrained. Overall needs to tighten up in many areas.
The place is beautiful & very cozy. The service was good, & all the soups I tried were delicious & definitely worth the price. I also tried a sandwich that I didn't enjoy as much, but overall, it was a great experience. I would recommend this place to others.
This is a great place with a great vibe & really pretty interior but if you're going to come here on weekend be ready that it's very crowded & you'll have to wait in a queue a lot. I was surprised that even tho there's a lot of people it's still quiet & cozy. Drinks & soups are very good & very affordable!
I want to mention the people that are working here, they're doing a great job & even tho it's so hard & stressful to have a non-stop flow of clients they're still nice, patient & respectful. I'll 100% come here again but will try to find a day when it's a little less crowded.
Special thanks to the hostess at this establishment, she is wonderful 🌟
Worth the wait! Primarily vegetarian &/or vegan menu, with options to add meat & dairy to some dishes. Huge sandwiches on fresh pillowy bread & hearty soups (ask about the soup of the day!) Charming & cozy atmosphere with expansive & secluded patio & curated decor. Will be back next time I'm in Montreal!
Fabulous sandwiches & soups The Triplex is a great combination of tastes... Only blah thing.... No coordination with kitchen../ Got the Sandwich before the soup....-& ordered 2 coffee's & dessert .... We finished dessert almost before getting the coffee Not your common resto ettiquette Staff was amazing & so on, just needs little tweeks... But an outstanding place to come & enjoy 12 months a year , always fresh & healthy combo's..
This place rocks! The sandwiches were massive & very flavourful. We started with soup which was also exceptional. They have a great vibe, an outdoor patio that almost gives the feeling of eating in the country rather than the city. The line to get in was about 10 minutes but the food & the atmosphere are very much worth it.
We came here on purpose, it was rainy weather, & I wanted hot soup. I chose the place because of the reviews, which were really nice. Cuisine: basically the whole idea is for vegans, so they take vegetables from their own garden - I thought so, but I didn't find a garden, but there are also meat products, not a lot, but there are some. We ordered two soups of the day, two sandwiches & tea. The soup was too sweet because of the sweet potatoes, but overall it was okay. The sandwiches, for me, are too simple, I'm not saying simple is bad, I'm saying too simple. Interior: cozy & homely, we didn't sit in the garden because it was raining, but initially it was planned to be something in Japanese style, judging by the fish & sakura outside, overall 4. Service: there is a problem here, I won't go into details, but it's worth it grow & grow, thank you, but the place is not mine, again, I'm an absolute meat eater. but thanks
Very cute place to sit inside/out, the food is very good, great vibes, great service, make sure to try their soup of the day. 10/10 must try.
