Such a difficult experience here, always.

The entrance layout is a disaster - the person who essentially works behind the counter is not the host, they will do their best not to greet you. The individual who's running around is probably the host although they're probably too scattered to greet you.

This sets the tone for the entire experience here, every time I've been. It's chaos, staff are visibly tired, grumpy. No one wants to make eye contact with you in fear of having to do more - the staff there are clearly over worked, underappreciated?

I've frequented the place on & off for over 10 years & it's always the same sorta bizarre energy - disorganized, overly curt, smug, not great.

Food is really, really good. The space is absolutely gorgeous. Something is broken here :|

First meal in Montreal & we were really impressed by both the food & the service. The vegetables & cream cheese were the standout dishes. I'm usually not a big fan of either, but this place definitely raised my standards.

Their sandwiches are giant & unbeatable! The bread, which is homemade, is very soft & delicious with a nice crust. If the weather is good, I recommend sitting on the back terrasse!

Very cute cafe with a beautiful garden & atmosphere. I had a nice iced chai as well as a delicious cheesecake. The prices were on the expensive side but not outrageous. Also the utensils were not clean, containing leftover sauce & general grime.

I came here for lunch yesterday, & honestly, I left pretty disappointed since I've enjoyed coming here in the past. We got served by 4 different people, which made everything feel confusing & disorganized. It took 20+ minutes to get our coffees, & the food came around 40 minutes after we ordered. What bothered me was that there was no apology or acknowledgment of it.

I've volunteered at the Roulant before, & yesterday the café really didn't embody its values of humanity or community. I also found the hostess particularly insolent. It's okay not to like a client, but becoming apathetic that quickly shows a lack of basic compassion.

Maybe I'll come back & give it another try, but meh.
