Expected this to be an overpriced date spot but was pleasantly surprised. If given the choice between white & brown bread, I'd take white. Luckily, I wasn't offered a choice. The triplex sandwich was great.
The filtered coffee was underwhelming.
The best sandwich you will ever have in your life. The triple-decker. Soups amazing too.
Une superbe découverte!!!! Les cafés sont très bons! Le dessert est juste magnifique!!! & le vibe était super cozy & amusant ! 🤩 & la cerise sur le gâteau était les biscuits fraîchement sortis du four!!!! Mon dieu ! Je goûtais le ciel ❤?
Waited like 10 minutes & literally no one came to seat us… even asked & got ignored. Someone skipped in front of us & got sat too?!
This was my favorite spot for amazing sandwiches & soul healing level plant life on the ceiling. Now you can barely spot a plant but I was delighted to see dogs. Even if I ordered the wrong sandwich option: the bread crust was as dry as day old, the chicken salad lacked seasoning of any kind & the itsy cup of dressing was utterly insufficient. The thrill is gone
A beautiful atmospheric cafe no matter what season the city is in. The drinks are always delicious whether it's a latte or an apple cider. A great spot for studying, bringing a friend to catch up or even for a cute date in the summer. The service is warm & quick, guaranteed to always have a nice time here
A cloud & a hug have a baby. That is what their bread is reminiscent of. We had the Duluth & the killer tomato & both were really great. The staff were super friendly & they mentioned that they have a relationship with a local bakery to make their bread & baked goods. They provide the recipes, the bakery makes it happen. I loved that. We also got a lentil & fennel soup, an incredible chocolate & rosemary cookie & a chocolate lava cake for the gluten free folk in our crew. We will be back.
Honesty the experience was ruined by the long wait outside to get a table. First we were excited, then we were cold but still hopeful, & by the time we finally gave up & accepted a table *near* the terrace instead of on the terrace, we were feeling a bit grumpy. The line moved incredibly slowly. & when we got inside we were shocked to find that there were people camping out at tables with their laptops nursing a single coffee forever. I can't understand the mentality of someone who would take up a table like that while there are 30+ people lined up in the cold outside waiting to get in. The restaurant should limit the time at each table & ban laptops, at least on the weekend when their restaurant is insanely busy. In the end the terrace was indeed beautiful, & the food was pretty but tasted just okay, but we were left with a bad taste in our mouths after waiting for so long, it pretty much ruined the experience for us :(
Macaroni & fauxmage ultra sec, la soupe au pois goûtait uniquement le thym, la serveuse a renversé de notre boisson sur la table & a juste dit « désolé » sans revenir pour essuyer.
Hot chocolate & spice is an interesting combination… thankfully the rock hard burnt cookie entered the competition & made for a fun debate on which was worse. Amazing vibes & great staff. We're definitely going back.
Cute & cozy spot. Perfect for coffee or lunch with a friend or to get some work done. Great London fog & great scones. People working here were very nice as well.
Excelente café pour une petite pause, pour un rencontre entre amies ou une date. En été la terrasse c'est spectaculaire.
A little gem... Santropol is a cozey & welcoming café where service is amazing. All members of the staff are attentive & pleasant. Sandwiches are huge & tasty. Plates are well presented. The Hot Spiced Quebec Apple Juice was a wonderful discovery & exactly what I needed to warm up on a cold winter day.
I would like to go back in the summer to enjoy the courtyard.
This cafe is an experience. The sandwiches are fulfilling & the beverages are on point. Reasonable quantity & price.
I'd definitely visit again to try something new but I'm more into the place & how it's designed. Loved it !
The sandwiches r so good the bread is so fluffy & fresh. I also tried the hot chocolate it was delicious not too sweet & the carrot cake was amazing as well. The place itself is so homey & cute, the staff were so kind thank you !!
Best sandwiches I've had in Montreal!! Highly recommend their tomato soup as well. Will be my go to spot every time I'm in Saint Laurent!
I have been going to Santropol since they opened many years ago. Yesterday I was there for an early dinner & was looking forward to having my usual. A tuna sandwich with salad. I was horrified to find out that the sandwich options were chicken salad & ham. The country bread is always cut super thick & it is heavy with sharp crusty edges. When there is something soft like tuna inside it is easier to keep together. I ordered the chicken salad which was vile! Imagine canned chicken consistency - thick pieces & dry with barely any mayo. Not chicken salad. The bread was 1.5 inches thick & the heavy meat chunks fell out with the salad & tomato. This led to a disgusting experience of everything falling all over me as I was trying to eat it. The only other non meat choices on the menu are vegan. I also ordered the Carrot/Orange soup & it was thick pieces in watery broth which was not what I was expecting at all.
I am a foodie & eat in restaurants on a regular basis. What chef prepared this meal?
I am embarrassed to say that I wore the sandwich.
