Afficher toutpasta(41) italian(25) mushroom(18) recommend(18) sauce(16) vibe(14) wine(13) fresh(11) highly recommend(9) dessert(9) focaccia(9) bar(8)This restaurant is fun! The food is very good, the service was excellent, & the noise level decent. The pasta dishes served as mains are a generous size - the Italian-American influence some have commented on. We loved the orecchiette with a mushroom/truffle sauce. All the wines are privately imported. The bottle of pecorino (from Abruzzo) we had was first rate.
You should check this place out, ASAP. The dining experience I had there tonight was the best I can remember in a very long time. Mind you, I went solo. It was a lovely, extremely busy evening in St-Henri. I was curious about Figata, but pessimistic about getting in. The welcomer at the door told me it would be tight, but she would see what she could do. She spoke to the maitre'd & the kitchen, & after much discussion, I was given the option of a solo spot, but I had to be out in 50 minutes, to acommodate an existing reservation. I accepted the offer. & I'm so glad I did. I was seated at the bar. I was served quickly. I ordered a Moretti, & the fish crudo of the day, tuna carpaccio. I asked the bartender to choose a wine to pair with the tuna. Just before the food arrived, I was offered a sample of a white wine from Sicily. The barkeep explained that it would be somewhat bold, but not to overpower the fish. Wine pairing 101. Easy to say, but not to do. It was great. A perfect pairing. The wine had a significant, but subtle body, on-target acidity, & a hint of Riesling-style minerality. I asked the bartender what the varietal was. She wasn't sure, then proceeded to consult with no less than four of her very busy colleagues before returning with the answer that it was an Inzolia, also known as Ansonica. You should try some. The fish was amazing. Fresh, with a sweet sauce & some small hot peppers & capers. It was a refreshing protein dish, hence the crisp white wine being a perfect match. I would bet that everything on their menu is of similar high quality. But what stood out for me the most was the customer service. Making a serious effort, without hesitation, to find an improbable spot, & to answer my question about the wine made me feel the best looked after. & isn't that the whole point of going to a restaurant?
We were a group of 5 set on a round table of a perfect size. Cocktails, excellent red wine, digestifs. Bread & charcuterie were excellent & generous. We were able to order almost all the main courses & all were perfect! Service was attentive without being overwhelming. Price was very reasonable. We closed the place without realizing it was so late. Will definitely return!
An Italian restaurant that focused on mastering what Italian cooking is, simple ingredients, prepared in order to let the ingredients shine. Service was excellent & the wine list has a lot of interesting options. If you have a special occasion to celebrate I recommend here
Charcuterie board was good, could have used a less basic cheese though. The artichokes were a pleasantly unique touch but not sure why they were piled on the sun-dried tomatoes. The sun-dried tomatoes were delicious. The cured meat was nice. Olives were good quality. Maybe serve it on a board?
The focaccia wasn't really like any other focaccia I get at other places. It's passable with the above platter but otherwise I wouldn't get it.
The Zozzona was disappointing, you couldn't taste & barely could see the sausage. There was nothing to balance out the strong cheeses.
I enjoyed the funghi e tartufo, very solid mushroom pasta dish.
Tiramisu wasn't cut properly & was mostly mascarpone. Didn't really have enough flavour to it.
Overall I think more effort could be put into presentation.
My Negroni Terra was good, very similar to a typical Negroni.
Cute decor. Nice 80s music. Excellent service. Was very helpful with the wine. Called me when my friend forgot her bag, which was very appreciated.
Figata is just a really solid Italian restaurant that gets the basics right-& that's exactly why it works.
The vibe is warm & relaxed without feeling trendy or overdesigned. It's comfortable, well-lit, & feels like a place meant for eating & talking, not taking selfies. You sit down, order a glass of wine, & you're immediately at ease.
The food is the star. The pasta is excellent across the board: properly cooked, well-seasoned, & not drowned in sauce. The flavors are clean & confident. Nothing feels overworked or gimmicky. Whether it's a creamy mushroom pasta or a tomato-based dish finished with cheese, it tastes like someone in the kitchen actually knows what they're doing.
The appetizers are simple & done right. Burrata is fresh & creamy, vegetables are treated properly, & everything tastes like quality ingredients instead of kitchen tricks. It's classic Italian cooking with restraint, which is harder to find than it should be.
Service is friendly, efficient, & knows when to leave you alone. No hovering, no attitude, no upselling nonsense. Just solid, professional service. The wine list is strong, leans Italian, & pairs well with the menu without being overpriced.
Figata doesn't try to reinvent Italian food or chase trends. It focuses on execution, consistency, & comfort-& it delivers on all three. If you want dependable, well-made Italian food in Montreal, this is an easy five-star spot & a place you'll want to come back to.
The two pastas we got could use a bit more salt. Great atmosphere & portions, nice wine selection
