We went with high expectations given the hype & despite good service & a trendy atmosphere, the food was positively mediocre. After waiting quite some time for our drinks had to send back a negroni sbagliato because it just tasted like prosecco & a vodka soda that tasted like soda. They didn't have the bufala mozarella, suggested the meatballs which were flavourless & seemed undercooked. The curly fries with meat sauce tasted likd Mccain frozen fries & a canned sauce. The mushroom & truffle pasta did not contain any actual truffle had a gooey texture & defintely needed salt & pepper. Unfrotunately won't be returning here.
This restaurant is fun! The food is very good, the service was excellent, & the noise level decent. The pasta dishes served as mains are a generous size - the Italian-American influence some have commented on. We loved the orecchiette with a mushroom/truffle sauce. All the wines are privately imported. The bottle of pecorino (from Abruzzo) we had was first rate.
Such a vibe. Love this neighborhood spot. Great staff, awesome decor & even better food! The truffle mushroom pasta & polpettes are def a must!
A restaurant that actually deserves the hype.
We went to Figata for dinner as a group of six two nights ago, & overall it was a great experience.
They sat us at a round table in the middle of the restaurant. At first, we thought it might be too small for six people, but it actually created a really nice atmosphere & made it easy for everyone to talk together. The vibe of the restaurant felt warm, friendly, & home-y.
Now for the food: my friend & I split the meatballs, the curly fries with the sauces on the side, & the mushroom pasta.
Meatballs: 10/10
Curly Fries: 9/10
Mushroom Pasta: 9/10
Overall, the food was delicious. I heavily recommend the meatballs especially. The curly fries & pasta were also great. I do feel like the pasta was missing a little something flavorwise, but it was still really good overall.
We also got dessert, the tiramisu: 7/10. It was good, but there was slightly too much cocoa powder, which overpowered the cream a bit & threw off the balance of the dessert.
Overall, definitely a spot worth trying if you're looking for a cozy dinner with friends & good comfort food.
Just an absolutely incredible place for Italian food. They've done such a good job with the rebrand & it was really good value for money. Could not recommend this place more!! I highly recommend the mushroom thingy. I can't remember the name, but it was really great.
Absolutely delicious food just came across it while walking in the neighbourhood. Even impressed me with the mushroom pasta & I dont like Italian lol. Shoutout to Viral our host he was super kind & helped us choose. Will def be back.
Charcuterie board was good, could have used a less basic cheese though. The artichokes were a pleasantly unique touch but not sure why they were piled on the sun-dried tomatoes. The sun-dried tomatoes were delicious. The cured meat was nice. Olives were good quality. Maybe serve it on a board?
The focaccia wasn't really like any other focaccia I get at other places. It's passable with the above platter but otherwise I wouldn't get it.
The Zozzona was disappointing, you couldn't taste & barely could see the sausage. There was nothing to balance out the strong cheeses.
I enjoyed the funghi e tartufo, very solid mushroom pasta dish.
Tiramisu wasn't cut properly & was mostly mascarpone. Didn't really have enough flavour to it.
Overall I think more effort could be put into presentation.
My Negroni Terra was good, very similar to a typical Negroni.
Cute decor. Nice 80s music. Excellent service. Was very helpful with the wine. Called me when my friend forgot her bag, which was very appreciated.
Overhyped, my mushroom pasta had no taste, the lamb skewers are like the ones you get at maxi frozen, the shrimp & calamari were horrible all the coating was falling off & soggy. The fries on the other hand are very good. Another problem was sitting right next to another couple we couldn't even talk without being heard or feeling comfortable. Not sure if ill be back.
Montréal you know very well I have an affinity for Italian food & all things pasta 🍝. Figata a new Italian restaurant in the Saint-Henri neighborhood has just opened its doors & is already making waves in the local food scene. From the moment you walk in you feel the comfort, vibe & passion from the chef to the wait staff. The food is generous & delicious from the polpette, to the caesar salad & pasta's especially our favorite orecchiette, mushrooms in a cream sauce.
A definite must try restaurant that should be on your list.
