Overall, Café Cherrier emerges as a Montreal institution that consistently delivers classic French bistro fare with generous portions, a warm Parisian vibe, and attentive service. The menu is praised for reliable staples like onion soup, gravlax, onglet de boeuf, gigot d'agneau, ris de veau, and steak tartare, with brunch and desserts such as eggs Benedict and tarte tatin earning frequent compliments, and the terrace is often highlighted as a superb setting for al fresco meals. Prices are considered reasonable for the quality by many, though a few reviews note that they have risen and some call portions or value not ideal at times. Service is repeatedly described as friendly and professional, with staff remembered for their attentiveness, yet some experiences mention slower pacing or occasional missteps in busy rooms or in wine recommendations. The atmosphere is described as convivial, intimate, and often lively, sometimes noisy, but with a consistent level of comfort and charm that keeps diners returning. Taken together, the reviews suggest a dependable, well loved bistro that balances tradition and quality, with room for improvement in noise control and consistency.

The food was good, the choice of wine adequate, our server was friendly. Because there was a table of 9 people beside us, the atmosphere was compromised because it became very noisy. But overall as a french Bistro it is very good & I would recommend it.
I was fairly impressed by how simple & still tasty the dishes were. I took a salad & a dessert, & both were copious, well-prepared, & had great presentation.
Also, the service was great & super quick! Definitely coming back if I happen to be in the area.
We had my mom's 100th birthday celebration in their private room. ~20 family members from all over. Cindy, our server was lovely, the food excellent, ambiance perfect & support for preparation, including a special menu beyond our expectations. Locking in a private room on a Saturday night in any city is special so the rest was, pardon the pun, gravy.
