About

Cabane à Sucre Bouvrette provides a traditional sugar shack experience focused on authentic Quebecois maple production and rustic regional cuisine. The menu highlights heritage recipes, centering on wood-fired maple syrup production used to glaze thick cuts of cured ham, savory pea soup, and crispy pork rinds. Large communal tables fill the expansive hall, designed to accommodate groups for a hearty feast of seasonal specialties. Freshly tapped maple sap fuels the evaporation process, resulting in the rich amber syrup that coats the signature fluffy pancakes and baked beans. Guests observe the boiling process firsthand to understand the transformation of sap into golden syrup. The atmosphere reflects the deep roots of local forest harvesting through its straightforward architecture and dedication to time-honored rural culinary methods that define the essence of the northern harvest season.

Review Summary

Cabane à Sucre Bouvrette offers a mixed experience where guests are often divided between the quality of the traditional food and the declining standards of service and facility maintenance. While many visitors praise the delicious meals and welcoming atmosphere, others express disappointment regarding inconsistent portion sizes, long wait times between dishes, and a perceived lack of upkeep in the buildings. Recent feedback highlights a noticeable drop in overall consistency and staffing levels, leading some long-time patrons to consider alternative locations despite the enjoyable musical entertainment and pleasant carriage rides available on the property.

If you're going to this place, be careful! Guests are treated with utmost kindness here. This is a small area where every corner is made for your relaxation. There are separate pets, a railway with a train & crossing, a corner with swings for children & other surprises. We were most impressed by the fact that you feel surrounded by the culture of Quebec, the French language everywhere & delicious home-made food. Maple syrup on sticks was so yummy, we didn't want to stop))) In the restaurant, we were served by the waitress Sylvie, she was very attentive to us & we felt like part of a big friendly family. Sorry, I wrote a lot of letters, but this place deserves to be praised! Thanks to the whole team who organizes such a weekend! You are incredible guys!

Food was ok but not great. I was expecting to have any sort of dessert but nothing was served after our meal. We obviously had the maple sirop on ice but no other desserts. Not much to do for kids. When we went, the train was not operating. There was a mini farm & a few arcade games but that was about it. The service was great though, people who worked there were very friendly.
