About

Byblos Le Petit Café focuses on the authentic preparation of traditional Persian recipes centered around saffron-infused rice, tender grilled skewers, and slow-cooked stews. The menu highlights a variety of vegetable-forward dishes, incorporating fresh herbs, legumes, and dried fruits to balance bold aromatic profiles. Patrons encounter a setting defined by cultural artwork and vibrant textile accents that mirror the rich heritage of Iranian culinary traditions. The kitchen prioritizes the use of high-quality proteins seasoned with classic spices like turmeric, sumac, and cinnamon to ensure depth of flavor in every serving. Each plate emphasizes careful assembly and natural ingredients rather than complex fusion techniques or modern culinary trends. This establishment remains a consistent destination for individuals seeking genuine regional flavors served in a straightforward, culturally immersive environment that honors long-standing Middle Eastern cooking methods.

Review Summary

Byblos Le Petit Café is widely recognized as a cozy, welcoming, and aesthetically pleasing destination in Montreal that offers a unique fusion of traditional Persian flavors adapted for a Western palate. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its signature feta omelet, homemade jams, and authentic tea service, frequently highlighting the bohemian atmosphere as an ideal setting for a relaxed meal. While several patrons describe the culinary experience as delicious and reminiscent of traditional home cooking, others express disappointment regarding recent inconsistencies in food quality, portion sizes, and service speed. Although opinions on the authenticity and value of the offerings remain divided, the restaurant continues to attract those looking for a flavorful brunch or dinner in a charming, vibrant neighborhood environment.

I've eaten here twice now & it has been delicious both times. I went on a busy day my first trip, & we put our names on the list & wandered around. The cafe is situated in a beautiful neighborhood, so it is easy to pass the time. The second time was a quiet day & we were sat immediately. The Iranian tea is amazing & beautifully served, & my favorite food is the feta omelet.

I love this place as a cafe strictly. The food is, as most people have mentioned in reviews, lackluster. Good chocolate cardamom cake, but I probably wouldn't have supper here again. You really want to stay for the atmosphere, but the service is always terrible. After returning multiple times, it seems the staff begins to ignore you after coming by once, & will not clear your table until you leave...dirty plates with bones were left on our table after we were done eating & were not cleared for 30+ minutes even though we wanted to stay for tea afterwards. Consistently poor service & rude waitstaff, unfortunately.

If you're used to Western breakfasts like omelets, English ham & sausage, & Mon coco etc, try a traditional Iranian breakfast.

Byblos Restaurant is named after a city in present-day Libya with a 7,000-year history, once ruled by the Persian Empire.

Naan, feta cheese, dill herbs, olives, & radish, along with a cup of sweet Persian tea, make up the essential Persian breakfast. The warm, freshly baked bread & naan, paired with homemade jam from an Iranian mother, & the aromatic flavors of ginger & rose petals, create a rich & complex flavor.

Add scrambled eggs between pita bread for a complete & luxurious Iranian breakfast.

Great spot to bring your laptop or a card game & some friends & to spend the day! In the summer their windows open fully into an open air terasse & in the winter you can tuck yourself into a cozy bench with cushions & Persian tea!

They're not the fastest service so it's more the spot to head when you're not in a rush, but the food is delicious & the decor & ambiance is really special too.

I love this place! This is just the type of restaurant I had been looking for in Montreal: beautiful simple space, quiet (no loud music & tables not too close) in a way conducive to conversation, with tasty & healthy food & lovely presentation. & the tea pots & small cups on these individual trays are a pleasure. I had the koukou with a perfectly seasoned side salad, & my party had the feta omelette. We had a delightful time. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality & surroundings. I have already told my friends about this restaurant & will be back. Thank you!

Family owned restaurant! Beautiful. Amazing atmosphere- I enjoyed my plate of the day, the mint tea was amazing. The employees are incredibly nice. Service was quick. I would definitely return. The menu can be confusing for newcomers, but it isn't really an issue for most of us who just want to enjoy a nice day !

Perfect delicious cute lovely ambiance & hosts!! This spot is so tastefully decorated with Persian art, in a beautiful neighborhood + delicious food & tea. We were visiting from NYC & will definitely come back with friends. This a place to bring your friends! One of our favorite hang out spots in the city.

1. clockwise: sweet bread & pita, unlimited persian tea with 3 different types of sugar cubes presented in a beautiful little brass dish..., extraneous side of feta, honey, assorted yoghurts. & an unpictured tomato onion feta omelette 2. assorted dips + bowl of coffee everything was delicious, the tomato omelette especially so but probably because it reminds me so much of chinese tomato egg but with a different texture. & i love how the entire wall is completely open window lined with so many plants!!! perfect for people watching & enjoying summer ai
