Review Summary

Across the reviews, Byblos Le Petit Café comes across as a warm, cozy spot with a calm, sunny atmosphere, a décor that blends bohemian charm with Middle Eastern touches, and a menu that offers a wide range of Persian and vegetarian options, plus gluten-free bread on request. The food is praised for bold flavors and nostalgic touches, with many diners raving about the feta omelette for brunch, the variety of egg-based pies, the traditional Iranian breakfast, dizi, and dips like hummus and beet spreads, with several dishes described as memorable. The staff and service are frequently noted as friendly and helpful, though several reviews flag slower service during busy times, occasional missteps with timing or table management, and cleanliness or upkeep issues in some visits. The venue is described as both a hidden gem and a great place to share plates with friends or family, especially in good weather when windows open to create an airy terrace, while winter seating is described as cozy. Price points are described as reasonable by some and overpriced by others, and a few reviews caution that expectations can vary and that the experience can be inconsistent. Overall, the consensus is that Byblos Le Petit Café delivers a distinctive, comforting Persian-influenced dining vibe with opportunities to explore a broad menu, but visitors should be prepared for occasional service delays and a few maintenance flaws.

I love this place as a cafe strictly. The food is, as most people have mentioned in reviews, lackluster. Good chocolate cardamom cake, but I probably wouldn't have supper here again. You really want to stay for the atmosphere, but the service is always terrible. After returning multiple times, it seems the staff begins to ignore you after coming by once, & will not clear your table until you leave...dirty plates with bones were left on our table after we were done eating & were not cleared for 30+ minutes even though we wanted to stay for tea afterwards. Consistently poor service & rude waitstaff, unfortunately.

If you're used to Western breakfasts like omelets, English ham & sausage, & Mon coco etc, try a traditional Iranian breakfast.

Byblos Restaurant is named after a city in present-day Libya with a 7,000-year history, once ruled by the Persian Empire.

Naan, feta cheese, dill herbs, olives, & radish, along with a cup of sweet Persian tea, make up the essential Persian breakfast. The warm, freshly baked bread & naan, paired with homemade jam from an Iranian mother, & the aromatic flavors of ginger & rose petals, create a rich & complex flavor.

Add scrambled eggs between pita bread for a complete & luxurious Iranian breakfast.

Great spot to bring your laptop or a card game & some friends & to spend the day! In the summer their windows open fully into an open air terasse & in the winter you can tuck yourself into a cozy bench with cushions & Persian tea!

They're not the fastest service so it's more the spot to head when you're not in a rush, but the food is delicious & the decor & ambiance is really special too.

I love this place! This is just the type of restaurant I had been looking for in Montreal: beautiful simple space, quiet (no loud music & tables not too close) in a way conducive to conversation, with tasty & healthy food & lovely presentation. & the tea pots & small cups on these individual trays are a pleasure. I had the koukou with a perfectly seasoned side salad, & my party had the feta omelette. We had a delightful time. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality & surroundings. I have already told my friends about this restaurant & will be back. Thank you!

Family owned restaurant! Beautiful. Amazing atmosphere- I enjoyed my plate of the day, the mint tea was amazing. The employees are incredibly nice. Service was quick. I would definitely return. The menu can be confusing for newcomers, but it isn't really an issue for most of us who just want to enjoy a nice day !

Perfect delicious cute lovely ambiance & hosts!! This spot is so tastefully decorated with Persian art, in a beautiful neighborhood + delicious food & tea. We were visiting from NYC & will definitely come back with friends. This a place to bring your friends! One of our favorite hang out spots in the city.

1. clockwise: sweet bread & pita, unlimited persian tea with 3 different types of sugar cubes presented in a beautiful little brass dish..., extraneous side of feta, honey, assorted yoghurts. & an unpictured tomato onion feta omelette 2. assorted dips + bowl of coffee everything was delicious, the tomato omelette especially so but probably because it reminds me so much of chinese tomato egg but with a different texture. & i love how the entire wall is completely open window lined with so many plants!!! perfect for people watching & enjoying summer ai

The fluffy feta omelette is delicious! Warm bread & a good variety of jams. The service was friendly & kind. We had two different teas & both were great! Will come back for lunch & dinner.

You wish there was a place with a warm inviting atmosphere, but not too granola, with rich textiles & natural light, & authentic delicious food? It's Byblos. Grab a small table by the window & have some cardamom chocolate cake with Iranian spiced tea, or a cookie plate to share with a date. Their long group table in the back also makes this place perfect for large family dinners, or work gatherings. Their staff are friendly & considering how great this place is, I'm always shocked there's a free table. Enjoy this place now before it blows up & has a line down the block!

The place is cozy & the old traditional Iranian design making it a calm place to spend an hour. In between there is no parking close to the place. I recommend you to order tea & enjoy the place because the food portion is very small & it isn't worth it to spend money . We heard about their special "Dizy" , which is basically meat/ beans like "Abgoosht" but has to make in special pottery pot & that make it special. However the food was cooked in regular pot & it served only in special pot ( Dizy), it was also cold. The table was not cleaned. They didn't bring spoon for Meze. The waiter was nice guy & had artistic style which made him special.

Such a cute & pleasant local resto...Byblos serves Persian style cuisine for breakfast, lunch & dinner...organized in their menu by chapters (a very nice concept). The decor in this two room bistro is somewhat simplistic but gets the job done; & you are there to try some interesting takes on dishes that you probably would not normally have had the opportunity to experience. We were a large group & ordered a wide selection from the First Chapter of the menu: Fried Eggs with Dill (very good), Feta Omelet (good...a bit on the salty side), Date Omelet (excellent...a mix of sweet & savory that we have not experienced before), & the Feta/Halva/Sweet Bread plate (very good...nice assortment of jams to apply to the breads & pitas allow for a lot of experimentation). All the meals include tea or coffees (all of which were very good). NOTE: The omelets are not prepared in a typical way & are very runny & loose (see picture for reference...so be prepared). Service was excellent...super friendly & informative with the meal being served quite quickly even though the restaurant was almost a peak capacity. Certainly worth a visit...& after you meal, take a stroll along this section of Laurier to check out the many unique local shops. Enjoy!
