pub(122) fish(75) drink(62) fish & chips(44) beer(39) tea(36) recommend(35) selection(33) vibe(31) group(31) game(30) whisky(29)Probably my favourite pub in MTL. The food is very good (relative to pubs) - I've had their Shepherd's Pie, Burger, Fish & Chips, & Tikka Masala. So far, my favourite is the Fish & Chips. The Tikka Masala was average, the burger is quite good although inconsistent, & the Shepherd's Pie was tasty. I love their Murphy's Irish stout. It always tastes great & they're generally poured well. One small critique would be bubbles in the head. Otherwise a great pint. I recommend this place to anybody who loves a pub with good food, beer, ambiance, & old-style decore. It doesn't disappoint.
Lamb was great, their stout poured real well & they had a lot of whisky options, easy choice if your at corona theatre for the day
Noisy, crowded, waiters are super busy, food are okay but for example toast on my onion soup was black burnt, with almost no cheese on it. Can not say it was my favorite place but might come back for the atmosphere
Your passport to the UK. Great drinks, delicious food, & authentic British charm. Plus, catch all the football action here! A must-visit spot!🍻⚽
We went there with a group, the service was pretty good. The drinks were average, but I guess this is the kind of place where people drink beer. The fish & chips was good. The salmon wellington was also good with the mushrooms & the sauce, it was perfect for that dish.
Before you book a large group know this ... We all ordered meals, appetizers & were heavy on the contrails ... The birthday girl blessed us all with beautiful Gourmet cupcakes..they then charged everyone at the table a 3$ "cutting fee". That's something that should be mentioned upon booking & asking if we can bring birthday dessert!
Bonne bouffe, le Fish & chips était excellent. Beau choix de bière pour accompagner le repas. Belle ambiance de Pub Anglais. Good vibes!
We had the chance to host our masterclass of whiskys at Burgundy Lion ! It was a huge success, the staff was great, efficient. We had excellent pairing with our tasting. We will defintely come back for other events ! Thanks Toby !
First time trying the afternoon tea. The service was excellent but the food was okay. Wished that the scones were warm. One side of the sandwiches were dry, the other side was soft. Compared to the Cardinal Tea Room & Gryphon D'Or, they're are at the bottom of the list. Sorry, for me, it wasn't worth the $45 + tax + tip for each person.
Generally nice & the service was good. We had the Burger, Fish Cakes & Fish & Chips. Unfortunately the fish in the fish & chips was a crispy chewy overcooked hollow shell. I was going to ask it to be re made or get something else but didn't want to distract from the nice moment I was having with my family. I would go back & probably get the burger but there are plenty of other food options to choose from.
Was there for High Tea. Great atmosphere, great tea, but lacking in the food ( small bites). Both the cucumber & smoked salmon bread on the cut sandwiches were dry, I was told by our server, they make them earlier in the day? So by high tea at 4pm - I am to expect to eat dry bread? Another food comment, the scones were cold, room temperature. I've been to other high tea rooms & the scones are warm to slather on butter & jams. Overall I would dissuade anyone from high tea at Burgundy Lion, the food doesn't match the beautiful atmosphere or the lovely tea itself.
Was delicious as always. Their shepherds pie hasn't changed a bit since I was last there & was the main reason for going. Service was impeccable & waitress was nice enough to give us a great wine recommendation.
Great whisk(e)y selection, friendly staff. Good bar vibe all around
Fun pub atmosphere. I have been there twice now & will definitely go again. Beer selection is good & I've yet to try something I don't love from the menu. (we've tried the onion soup, scotch egg, fish & chips, cod, & my favourite so far is the shepherd's pie). This year I plan on trying their whiskey tasting & high tea. Staff is fast & friendly.
Visiting Montreal for the first time, it was a nov e place to grab a pint, music was a lily tale loud.
