Le Lion de Bourgogne n'est pas un pub « traditionnel » selon les standards montréalais, ni britanniques. Nous cherchons à présenter un produit supérieur aux autres pubs établis, côté nourriture, service, et ambiance. Le Lion de Bourgogne offre une sélection impressionnante de whiskeys et de bières, ainsi qu'une carte de vins et de cocktails modernes.
Les avis convergent sur une ambiance pub britannique chaleureuse et authentique au coeur de Montréal, avec une carte qui mêle classiques britanniques revisités et plats réconfortants comme fish and chips, Scotch egg, pâté en croûte, le tout accompagné d'une riche sélection de bières et de whiskies. Le service est majoritairement apprécié pour son accueil chaleureux et son professionnalisme, parfois réhaussé par l'effervescence des soirs où la musique peut être trop forte et les temps d'attente plus longs. My food was cold, not bad altogether, but cold poutine is not the best. The atmosphere was OK, if you're clubbing.. At supper time, 5 people around the table, the music was so loud we had to shout.
I apologize for this long write-up, but unfortunately I have to write a negative review for an establishment that's been at the top of it's game, but has been going steadily downhill :/ I live & work in the neighbourhood & have been going to the pub since it opened; my colleagues & I normally go there for lunch once in a while as well. On my last visit, I went for brunch on a Sunday late morning, with a friend. We reserved in advance. 1) Once seated we were pretty much forgotten by the waitress & had to literally run after her to get served. 2) The pub was showing a game on the TVs (which is great), but there was a group of people on the 2nd floor that were so loud that my friend & I couldnt hear ourselves talk, despite seating inches appart in front of each other & our table was diagonally at the opposite end of the pub where the soccer fans were sitting - other customers (many elderly people) were clearly disturbed by this racket as well - the folks upstairs were literally acting as if they were in a stadium - louder than loud. That being said, when the waitress brought us our food, I asked her if there was some special event going on & pointed out the inconvenience of the excessive noise.. as an answer, I got (with an unwelcoming tone/attitude).. & I quote.. ".. this is how it is here.. this is the pub experience.. you should expect this kind of atmosphere when coming here"; not even a "sorry for the inconvenience".. almost as if to say "you don't like it you can leave" - This was ON A SUNDAY MORNING For the record, I also visit their sister pub, Wolf & Workman, & there is never such atmosphere there; the staff is very warm & welcoming & even if busy, there is never a racket, at least not a ridiculous one like this time at the Lion 3) Last but not least, while the food is quite good, the presentation & portion size of some dishes is totally not worth the money; I ordered eggs benedict with salmon; while the price was within the norm ($24), all I got was a few very tiny slivers of salmon & barely a tablespoon of hollandaise (on english muffin with eggs, of course) & a little bunch of potatoes; no fruit, no effort in presentation, nothing.. it looked like it was just slapped together in a hurry.. This place is becoming less & less desirable & makes us feel less welcome. Once again, my apologies for this long review.. & thanks for having taken the time to read it.
Service lent malgré que le restaurant n'était pas bondé de clients (50 minutes pour prendre les commandes), mais serveurs gentils Scones pas assez cuits, la cuisine les a remplacés par de nouveaux scones pas assez cuits (intérieur à la texture de muffin cru) Scotch egg qui goûtait le poisson Plat de rarebit délicieux OEuf bénédictine froid avec patates trop salées Dans l'ensemble, nous sommes déçus.
Nous avons tenu une rencontre d'une quinzaine de personnes au salon du troisième étage. Atmosphère chaleureuse & service absolument impeccable (Erin ). Les gens ont beaucoup apprécié la soirée!! Nous reviendrons sûrement!!!

Awesome place to eat & drink in Montreal. Staff is very helpful & fun to talk to. There is a variety of food choices. They open early if you have to see a soccer game with other fans. Saw them line up from our rental.
When I visited Burgundy Lion 2 years ago, I came out of there very happy & satisfied. Not so much this time, a week ago. The food was just ok. I ordered the Fish'n Chip, ans in my plate there was not a french fry longer than 1 inch. In other words, the fries were only small bits of very dark fries. Very disappointing. Then for dessert, I was looking forward to have their famous Sticky pudding. The portion was the size of a deck of cards, there was no syrup around it, very dry, & the $3 scoop of ice cream I ordered with it was the size of a golf ball, & I'm generous. Again, very disappointing. This was my last time at Burgundy Lion, & I don't think I will recommend it to my friends & collegues.

Always a great time at the Burgandy Lion. Toby Lyle always put on a great show, gives terrific value for the money you spend, & you get to try a range of wonderful whiskies.
The music was so loud our group spent most of our meal yell speaking to be heard. The waiter was not super attentive. We left after a relative good meal in search of a less loud ambiance. I remeber better times at this place so i was disappointed.
Établissement prévisiblement excellent, de toute évidence géré par des professionnels. Je salue en particulier le menu rafraîchi & les heures d'ouverture de la cuisine qui, après une courte pause, sont revenues à leurs habitudes tardives comme on les aime. Il n'y a pas beaucoup de restaurants avec un menu décent à Montréal dont la cuisine est ouverte jusqu'à 23h, & on y retourne en grande partie pour cette raison. Tant pis pour les autres. À un certain moment post-pendémique se faire servir en français au bar du Burgundy Lion demandait un miracle, ce qui m'avait forcé à soutenir (à regret!) la compétition. L'endroit demeure aujourd'hui surtout anglophone, par contre le service impeccable est de retour en formule éminemment bilingue. Works pour moi.
