Review Summary

For Boulangerie de Froment et de Sève, reviews collectively praise the bakery as a standout Montreal spot for buttery, flaky croissants and original pastries, with many calling the croissants among the best in town and a must visit for authentic French bakery flavors; the scene is described as welcoming, cozy and charming, with a good early-morning start and friendly service, and the selection includes galette des rois, kouign amann and a range of breads and pastries. While the baked goods are repeatedly lauded for quality and butter-rich flavor and textures, several comments note some inconsistencies lately, such as croissants that feel less laminated or a bit oily, occasional misorders or packaging issues, and occasional service hiccups or long lines. Packaging and value are mixed, with some praising generous in-store selections and thoughtful gift platters, while others report disappointing in-store packaging or higher prices. Additional notes mention gluten-free options and a wide assortment beyond croissants, reinforcing the bakery's reputation as a top destination in Montreal, though a few reviews warn that quality and service can vary by day. Overall, the place remains celebrated for its butter croissants and authentic pastries, inviting returns to sample fresh offerings when possible.

Such a cute spot with delicious baked goods. Their sandwiches & croissants are amazing, & their matcha was pretty good as well! Not too much seating at this location so definitely best to take it to go.

This is an amazing little bakery & is worth the extra walk to get to. I love the mini versions of their pastries, which allowed me to sample different things. They also have authentic & less common treats such as Paris-Brest. & their kouign amans are very generous in size. I enjoyed sitting in with my mini pastries & a latte. Highly recommend!

A Hidden Gem for Those Who Appreciate Authentic Flavour.

I recently visited this place & was truly impressed. As a lover of croissants, I can confidently say these are some of the best I've ever had. I tried the chocolate croissants & the raspberry croissants-both were absolutely delicious, with an exceptional flavor & an incredibly tender, flaky texture.

This place is a true treasure for anyone seeking original, high-quality baked goods. I will definitely be coming back for more. Thank you so much for your hard work & dedication!

This is the type of French bakery Montreal is well known for. The authenticity of their goods is unquestionable. Good selection with some cool breads too. Definitely leaning more towards small-batch, craft goods.

Vraiment dommage.

We tried their Galette des rois & it's absolutely amazing! Right amount of almond flavor with flaky puff pastry. Yum yum 😋

This place has the best butter croissants ever!!! I've tried plenty of places & this is the place to go trust me. Perfect texture & flavour it's unreal!! Not to mention, it is not heavy whatsoever which is phenomenal. We ate so many & can't wait for our next visit!! Space is quaint & cozy with excellent service.

Pastries are fresh & pretty. I bought around a dozen pastries as a holiday gift to bring to my doctor's staff. At the cash they had orders aside which were nicely presented in plastic catering trays. I asked if I could buy a tray for my order (or alternatively get a box) & the woman serving us very rudely told me those were exclusively for online orders. She seemed annoyed there were even people there ordering food. Their pastry platter in a catering tray when bought online start at $25. I spent $75 & they shoved everything on top of each other in a paper bag. I was frustrated that they did not offer packaging for a significant in-store order instead of ramming all of the pastries (some of which have icing, filling, or are delicate) into one bag together.

The brioche was tasty enough-although it's not Parisian brioche, but more of a dense salty-sweet cornbread.
