The BEST bakery in Montreal, maybe even Canada! Visit Cheskie's every time we visit from Toronto, their babka is so insanely good never had anything like it. Try the Russian babka if you're a fan of chocolate, it's a game changer!
Awesome bakery with sooo many delicious treats to choose from! There was a big lineup when I went but it's definitely worth the wait! I've been going there for a few years now & will probably be back very soon 🩷

If you're in Mile End, a stop at Boulangerie Cheskie is non-negotiable. This legendary Hasidic bakery is a must try, & the chocolate babka is truly the star of the show, rich, gooey, & perfectly decadent.
Beyond the babka, the selection is breathtaking. From their famous mini-cheese crowns to a dizzying array of black-&-white cookies & rugelach, every inch of the display case is packed with perfection.
I had a friend who hyped up this bakery & their small cheesecakes. When I bought three of their cheesecake crowns, all of them were really dry & it didn't have that savory strong cheesecake flavour. Didn't live up to the hype when I visited.
The moment you step into this bakery, the warm aroma of butter, sugar, & freshly baked bread instantly sets the tone. Everything on display looks inviting, clearly made with care & a passion for quality. The bread is exceptional while the croissants are perfectly flaky, light, & rich with buttery layers.
The sweet treats are just as memorable. Cakes are moist & balanced, cookies have crisp edges with soft centers, & fruit tarts taste fresh & vibrant. Even the simplest pastries feel special, thanks to excellent ingredients & expert baking.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere is cozy & welcoming. The staff are friendly, attentive, & genuinely enthusiastic about what they serve. This bakery is more than a stop for pastries; it's a comforting experience that leaves you satisfied & eager to return.

Was craving babka & this bakery was surprisingly still open in the evening. We got the babka loaf, a chocolate cheesecake muffin, & a rectangular cheesecake piece in the fridge section. The babka was pretty good, although I personally prefer the fragrance of the Montreal Kosher Bakery's one. The other desserts were just basic, mostly only tasting sweet. Service was just ok, employees were speaking Spanish to each other & not that friendly.
The bakery itself is in a very bright & modern looking space.
My son & daughter discovered this bakery on their many trips to Montreal. I went with my daughter & I really loved the place! The counter staff were so friendly & welcoming!
I am heading to Montreal now & this will be my first stop!
This place is the bomb!! They moved to a brand new, modern location across the street & the baked goods are as good as ever.
This is one of Montreal's true old school kosher bakery.
My wife & I discovered a sweet slice of heaven while we were exploring Rue Bernard in Outremont named, Boulangerie Cheskie. This small bakery was full of customers patiently waiting to be served by the friendly staff behind the counter. There was a huge variety of baked goods & pastries to choose from, but our biggest problem was trying not to buy everything in the store because it all looked so delicious. We finally settled on some eye-catching Cheese Muffins & a decadent Chocolate Babka. These delicacies were absolutely scrumptious & we will definitely be returning for some more heavenly delights.
This is by far our favourite bakery in Montreal. It was an awesome experience bringing Chris'The Babka King' in for some delicious treats. We tried a lot of different desserts. The one that is our absolute favourite is the Chocolate Russian Babka.
A little bakery filled with wonderful goodies for a very reasonable price! I loved the cheese crown & the apple cake, but found rugelahs to be a bit too sweet (even though I've got such a sweet tooth!). Still, I'd love to go back to try other items! The servers were not friendly or helpful - they looked rather bored/tired. Could it be that I annoyed them because I obviously didn't fit in + wanted to ask questions? I wonder.
