I'm surprised I forgot to leave a review right after.. but better late than never. Everything about this restaurant was impeccable from the service to the food they served. Kinda felt like I should've dressed up a bit instead of my typical casual wear. Splurge for the tasting menu if you can.. If you're going with a la carte, don't miss out on their duck! It was .3631017028537E+24;🤌!
What a great dinner. Our waiter Fredrick was outstanding. Charming, had great recommendations, & made us feel like we were in France but didn't have to speak the language. Outstanding.
This restaurant is something special! First, it is in a beautiful setting with lovely lighting. George our waiter extraordinaire, made our whole evening delightful. Professional & knowledgable he helped on suggestions in the specials & truly seemed to care about our dining experience. He has such joy in his being!! Maxime, the bartender, delivered an excellent Sarah to pair with my veal. & Agile was attentive to clear our plates at just the right moment, never being intrusive or rushing us. The entire staff at this restaurant (& hotel) is beyond wonderful. The best of the best. They appear to truly enjoy their work & their customers. Don't hesitate a moment to come & have a splendid dinner, wonderful wine, super soufflé & mostly an appreciation for a staff that genuinely enjoys what they do.
Top quality meal & service. We shared the mushroom risotto for starters & both had the roast duck breast for mains which was out of this world good. Presentation & taste were top class. Wine choice was excellent & our server was very kind & helpful. Would absolutely recommend for a special occasion!

Updated review: ambiance is good, staff is a bit less experienced than it used to be but did very well :)
Food took a nose dive since our last visit. We had the tasting menu & this was not our first time so our expectations were high. The lobster bisque lacked depths, salt & the twist you would expect from such a place. It tasted like lobster bouillon mainly. The Smoked Salmon & the scallops appetizers were amazing. The mushroom raviolis were dry & crunchy around the edges as if there were left outside under a heating lamp too long.
The mains were good. However my wife was disappointed by the size of the lobster serving. About one claw… I was expecting also expecting the desserts to be at the same level as last time but was let down. Dried out macarons are just not Ok for a place that charges 150$-200$ per person . If it was a regular restaurant maybe our expectations would be lower, but a place of this standing & price you expect impeccable food & service. Not to mention the fact that the neighbouring table returned their dessert & didn’t seem impressed.
Disappointed to be honest. It used to be a favourite.
A great experience at Bonaparte overall. We found the host to be a bit unwelcoming in the beginning, which was odd, but our waiter was outstanding. The food was presented beautifully & tasted delicious. The mushroom ravioli appetizer & duck breast main dish were major highlights for us. The soufflé dessert was tasty & worth the wait as well. One disappointment was that we advised in our reservation that the reason for our visit was our anniversary, but there was no mention of it by the service staff. Not a deal breaker, but why ask if there’s no reason to ask? Merci beaucoup Bonaparte! Highly recommended.
Every aspect of our dinner was delightful, from the first cocktail on through to dessert. The food was better than I was anticipating; absolutely delicious. & Pauline, our server, made the experience even more special with her humor & positive attitude. We will definitely be returning!
We wanted to treat ourselves, so we went to Bonaparte & ordered the tasting menu. A little bit of everything for $124 each!
The staff were very attentive. I enjoyed the service very much. The food was also very good... but not to the level I would have expected for paying so much. The presentation was beautifulbut in some cases, the flavor was just okay.
In the end, I enjoyed the time with my wife. It was worth doing (once every 5 years or so... lol)
Our Anniversary trip to Montreal started with a stellar dining experience in Old Montreal at this renowned restaurant know as Bonaparte.
Service was exceptional our waiter helped us choose dining options which paired perfectly with the amazing bottle of wine suggested & we were even granted a wonderful window table amid the bustling atmosphere.
If indeed it is true the menu has not changed in more than 36 years, the original chef must be commended for being so far ahead of the times - or perhaps we appreciate even more today the quality & care which are poured into exquisite meals which are prepared for those lucky enough to dine at Bonaparte’s. Superb dining experience!

Thoroughly enjoyable evening & amazing experience start to finish. Despite being 20 minutes late we were accommodated with a table quickly. Food was incredible & had a good laugh with the server Jean-Michelle practicing our dodgy french.
Great place. Got in a little early & immediately seated. Host was great. Waiter was knowledgeable & wonderful. Onion soup was superb, duck was perfect. Well portioned. Pace of engagement & moving through meal was nice.
We had the dégustation menu, which was lovely & perfect if you’re wanting to get a little taste of everything. The staff were kind & attentive, & the food service was well timed! Overall, we really enjoyed our experience here :)
