No wonder it is the best restaurant in Montréal. I loved almost everything. Dress something nice, you will feel like a King/Queen. It took us about 1hr & 40mins to complete the tasting menu. First of all, the atmosphere was beautiful. The music, the walls, the tables, the menu, & the plating went very well together. The Christmas tree was beautifully decorated with dried cirtus. I had to take pictures up close. Servers were very professional & attentive. It was a busy night, but they all had a smile on their face & looked very happy working there. Clumsy me, I dropped the butter knife as soon as I got to my seat. I was so embarrassed, but the servers replaced it right away without us asking or getting their attention. Now, the food, we tried the tasting menu, & it was an awesome choice. My husband & I ordered different things & shared them. Salad & lobster bisque - both were great choices; Salmon was no doubt, Duck Foie Gras Crème Brûlée was not for my taste, but I was glad that I tried it; mushroom ravioli was so wonderful, rabbit confit was not my style but again, l loved that I tried it; pear sorbet cleansed my pallet well (but was too boozy for me); roasted duck was heavenly & was the highlight of my meal (got it medium) & lamb was also heavenly (medium as well); tea (gave me a whole pot, loved it) & coffee; cheese option was really great & Pastry was is the only plate I couldn't finish. We didn't take the wine pairing option. We ordered drinks separately. Overall we were very satisfied. Highly recommend to try.
Best food we had during our Montreal visit! The wine selections are superb!
We had a good time here, the food was very good, we went for the Degésitation six course tasting menu. Delicious. Great wine good atmosphere & service. Would go back. Expensive but worth it.
We had the tasting menu with wine pairings for $192 CA each. The meal was a major disappointment. The lobster bisque with ginger tasted like burned lobster carcass. My "filet" was gristly & tough. The accompanying wines were pedestrian at best; I can't imagine that any of the bottles (of which we had a small pour) cost more than $25.
we were lucky to get reservations on two evenings & the food & service were excellent. Wonderful flavors & accompaniments to the dishes. A very wide variety of meat, fish, & game with excellent wines by the glass. On the second evening, the manager sat us at a beautiful window seat so we could see Montreal at night. Highly recommended!
4.5/5 Great ambience & vibe. The avg age of guests there is high, meaning it's a consistent & authentic restaurant. The interior gives some French castle vibe. Love it. The service was good except that our server was covering half the tables there by himself. He was nice but too occupied with other guests. Food was great. Appetizers were better than the mains. Great seafood, foie gras, lobster salad & duck breast. Beef bourguignon & lamb shank was alright. P.s. their wine list was impressive
Classic French menu. We had both duck breast & duck confit. Waiter suggested great wines.
This restaurant is something special! First, it is in a beautiful setting with lovely lighting. George our waiter extraordinaire, made our whole evening delightful. Professional & knowledgable he helped on suggestions in the specials & truly seemed to care about our dining experience. He has such joy in his being!! Maxime, the bartender, delivered an excellent Sarah to pair with my veal. & Agile was attentive to clear our plates at just the right moment, never being intrusive or rushing us. The entire staff at this restaurant (& hotel) is beyond wonderful. The best of the best. They appear to truly enjoy their work & their customers. Don't hesitate a moment to come & have a splendid dinner, wonderful wine, super soufflé & mostly an appreciation for a staff that genuinely enjoys what they do.
Top quality meal & service. We shared the mushroom risotto for starters & both had the roast duck breast for mains which was out of this world good. Presentation & taste were top class. Wine choice was excellent & our server was very kind & helpful. Would absolutely recommend for a special occasion!
Our Anniversary trip to Montreal started with a stellar dining experience in Old Montreal at this renowned restaurant know as Bonaparte.
Service was exceptional our waiter helped us choose dining options which paired perfectly with the amazing bottle of wine suggested & we were even granted a wonderful window table amid the bustling atmosphere.
If indeed it is true the menu has not changed in more than 36 years, the original chef must be commended for being so far ahead of the times - or perhaps we appreciate even more today the quality & care which are poured into exquisite meals which are prepared for those lucky enough to dine at Bonaparte’s. Superb dining experience!
